I think my favorite little detail of the movie is how the glass still sticks to his hands and breaks when Miles does his leap of faith. It shows that he is absolutely not relaxed at that moment. He's still terrified and doesn't think he's ready, but he takes the leap of faith anyway.

Miles Morales really established himself as the current generation’s version of relatable developing teenage characters along with my own Generation’s Terry McGinnis and Virgil Hawkins, and they each do so without being a cookie cutter of each other or any individual archetype.

In what you were saying, I can completely see a lot of kids loving Mile Morales *over* Peter Parker. I don't see the Spider-Verse giving many, if any, kids the impression that Miles Morales is Spider-Man *instead* of Peter Parker because a key idea of Spider-Verse is that anyone can be Spider-Man.

@@Zikkartan Lee, the literal creator of Spider-man said he loves the character because anybody could be under the mask. So objectively your wrong and the whole foundation of Spider-man isn't based on the identity of Spider-man but the ideals behind the character like doing the right thing and belief in yourself.

I cried when Stan Lee passed away and again when I saw his scene in the theaters. I grew up reading Spider-Man and X-men comics in the 90s. Much of the theme of Spider-man was that anyone can be a hero. Stan’s stories in comics were always more memorable to me than any books I read in school. His passing felt like I lost a grandfather. RIP “Smiling” Stan Lee

I know this video isn't about the cinematography of this film, but a fun fact that I love in this is that the animators punctuated Miles's doubt/confidence in his abilities in that while he doubted himself, he was animated on the 2s (only changed 12 frames per second rather than the standard 24, making him a little more choppy), but in the moments when he found his stride - when swinging with Peter with the computer and then for the final act - he was animated in every frame.

First of all, you are rocking that Spider-hoodie. Secondly, that line Spider-Ham says, "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody." Really chokes me up, even to this day. In every single superhero story, someone important to them that they couldn't save (like Uncle Ben, or Gwen Stacy in the spider-Man comics,) is a traumatizing memory that stays with them the most, their driving force to do their very best and try not to let anyone else die. But it's an impossible task, the cruel reality, and a rather mature theme that I'm glad they touched on.

Another great video! And damn... This video made me feel ashamed (wait, please read it all as I'm not trying to make you feel bad) that I forgot the movie's biggest lesson when I had seen it 4 times in theatres. "You won't know when you're ready, it's just a leap of faith." For so long, most of my life, I have let perfectionism and anxiety rule me, and the subsequent depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation it gave me only made me feel worse. I will never be "ready", it's just a leap of faith. Thank you for the reminder, Georgia. I hope you're well off screen and that you end each day with more lemonade than lemons that life has thrown at you.

I love this movie and Miles so much, they did such an amazing job. Some details that I absolutely love about this movie and the What's Up Danger? scene are - the glass comes off the building he jumps from because he's terrified, and he was still stuck to the wall when he jumped. He was scared, but he took the leap of faith anyway. They understood the assignment, it's exactly what you were talking about! So gooooooddd- - for the rest of the movie, he's animated more choppy than everyone else at 12 frames per second, compared to the 24 frames per second that the movie is animated in, it makes him feel awkward and off. But the moment he takes the leap of faith, he's animated at the full 24 frames per second and is smooth as silk. SUCH a cool detail!! - Aunt May (honored to have accidentally named myself after her LOL) saying the webshooters 'fit *perfectly*', which reflects when Stan Lee said the suit always fits *eventually*. - When he's swinging through the city, we see parallels of the first time he tried and failed to be Spiderman (grabbing and vaulting off the flagpole like a gymnist vs falling on and bouncing off of the flag pole, the WOOOO text following him going up vs the text following him falling down, etc.) - In the script, it says "Miles walks to the edge of the roof, the wind buffeting ... and LEAPS! The camera is UPSIDE DOWN. Miles isn't falling through frame. He's RISING." LIKE THAT IS SO GOOD!!!! Whenever I think about doing something scary or fear is stopping me, the beat of What's Up Danger that you showed at 14:40 starts playing in my head. It's nice, and when I have the energy to do the thing, it helps. 5:24 this sentiment (which the way you talked about it made me tear up too don't worry lmao) is something that playing Elden Ring and Geometry Dash is teaching me too. That if you bash your skull into a wall enough times, it will eventually come down. If you keep on trying and trying just to improve, you'll get there eventually. And that making mistakes is an inevitable and productive part of the process of learning (failing a jump and learning the correct timing a bit better, dying to a super fast attack and noticing that a boss always does that attack after a specific other move, etc.). It's still hard for me not to have negative self-talk and I haven't fully absorbed that concept and applied it to my life in general yet, but its nice. Thank you for making this video, your insight into things is always so nice.

Great to see you take on the Spider-Verse. I hope you've got a video on Spider-Gwen coming, too. As someone who doesn't really read comics, I was vaguely aware that Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen were characters, but I didn't really know anything about them. Having seen these movies, I now consider them two of my favorite Marvel characters. (Or at least, their characterizations in these movies. Hello Georgia! I've been meaning to ask if you ever made a video covering ADD. As someone who is 99% sure he has it (still need to go to a psychiatrist) are there any ways of finding motivation and/or focus in things that I dont't find interesting. Ie. studying for a retake of a college exam that is in 1-2 months
@GeorgiaDow
@GeorgiaDow Год назад
Great suggestion!
@captainzork6109
@captainzork6109 Год назад
I hope she makes a video still, because I think she's really smart and catches a lot of nuances other people don't. Still, as a person with ADD myself: 1) Surround yourself with people you want to be like; i.e., find a (serious enough) study buddy or study group you can meet with 2) Get yourself to the appropriate space which facilitates the desired behaviour, such as the library 3) Try the pomodoro technique. Focusing for long stretches at a time on something which isn't stimulating is difficult. So try studying in 25 minute intervals with 5 minute breaks in between. When it's study time, it's study time: so no looking at your phone until break time. Time your study time and breaks. 4) Don't overdo it. Allow yourself some leisure time. You are simultaneously your own employer and employee. If your employer asks of you to work all the time and doesn't allow for any fun, it's not weird you'd call in sick for work so often. Be a good leader to yourself. Hold yourself accountable, tend to your needs, and allow for a few longer breaks to keep morale up 5) Plan it out. Try to figure out how much work you need to do, and make it visible on a single piece of a4 paper. How many chapters do you need to do each day in order to have each chapter properly covered by the time you have the exam? Aim a week earlier than that, so that you can rehearse everything. This should also help with the idea it feels necessary to do something every single day. 6) Study depending on the subject matter. If it's math or something, more focus on exercises. If it's like psychology, more focus on learning the material. Moreover, it depends on what resources are available to you, and if they're good quality. Sometimes lectures are extremely clear, at other times it's better to rely on the book; still other times both the lectures and the literature are useful. Whichever the case may be, make sure to take good note of the learning objectives or topics. This is crucial to help you focus on what's important 7) To make it more interesting for yourself, you could try to figure out how this specific material is helpful to you. Knowledge is almost always useful, and can aid your understanding in other topics in surprising ways. (e.g., Vsauce.) 8) Studying isn't easy. And people with AD(H)D all struggle with different things to different extents. But if you keep at it and try to find what works for you, I'm sure you can do it!

We will often share our own experiences and failures with them to help them see it as natural and overcome able. Also, two questions. 1) When making a video do you A) have an idea for a topic and then find a movie to illustrate it. B) Watch something and get a topic idea from it? C) Have a fun custume that you want an excuse to use? 2) You mentioned Equilibrium! It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Lol, I do think it would be funny if when you cosplay male characters that those vids be sponsored by manscaped.

There's a lot to enjoy in your insights, but it's very annoying that you kowtow to the socialists periodically with your language. In this episode, the concern about being politically correct (which comes from the Maoists) was offensive and gross.

Nope. The phrase "politically correct", actually came from Russia. The Marxists, NOT the Maoists. I know. Spelling can be hard. Geography too. (Maoists are from China) And it meant to adhere to the party line. Ironically, U.S. Conservatives use it to denigrate those who DON'T adhere to THEIR party line. However, what Georgia was doing was being "polite", "kind" and "considerate"....because she is a quality human being.

@@classicslover Neat. Instead of originating in the socialist camp that used it to rise to power and then murdered one hundred million people it originated in the socialist camp that used it to rise to power and murdered only a few tens of millions of people. I stand corrected. Everyone who uses it to moderate their own behavior (or the behavior of others) is inherently gross.
