While Twisters was a fun movie, I was beyond disappointed that not an OUNCE of this incredible soundtrack or theme made even so much as a cameo. Some of the best film score put to tape
@@thomervin7450 How? Because it does not look over the top? The only tornado that really looks dated to me is the F-3 on the hill. Now I will say the “clouds” around the tornado’s look ugly.
@@thomervin7450 I would say some of it is - but then again I sometimes myself get fooled - will watch the documentary on it or something and be like ".....shit that was fake?!" but overall what DOES hold up 100% is the cast, the cinematography and of course - its score!
One of the main reason why I love this score so much is how diverse it is. It goes from a guitar like if it's a 90s collage movie. To a Horn that sounds like something from action movie To a Choir that sounds like Spirits or Ghost. To Cellos that obviously sounds like a horror movie TO A VIOLIN THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING FROM STAR WARS!!! And Mark Mancina just took all that and just made it work. Not only that but he made the score tell the story to the point where you can see what's happening with only the music.
Beautifully said! -Powerful, exhilarating, haunting, emotional. The same exact for me. There's absolutely nothing like it! -I'm a horn player so it really hits that special spot for me too!
I mean I can see what's happening as the music plays because I'm autistic and I've seen twister hundreds if not thousands of times (and I'm only 18 I havent had as much time as most)
Just watched my mum's original VHS tape of this and it's better than digital releases in every way imaginable, I hate ultra hd I like fuzzy pictures, god I'm stuck in the 90s, we even still have our CRT TV, it wouldn't be right without that, the only thing missing is the wonderful woman herself. watching movies won't ever be the same. R.I.P mum
William Davis The only good actors (to my knowledge) were Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. Other than that, just nothing more than a simple movie about tornadoes.
Actually, there was nothing simple about this movie! From the technical challenge of filming the moving vehicles and flying debris, much of which was in fact real, the animation of the twisters themselves which had not ever been done before, and the amount of dangerous stunt work that the actors themselves had to go through, this was an astoundingly complex movie to make. I'm actually impressed that it got made so well.
Who else notices this pattern F1: a mysterious, but simple melody F2: more upbeat and exiting F3: heroic/ intense and more complex F4: *E E R I E* F5: The most complex and used the most chorus Storm end: a calm and sad melody to represent the destruction (Also why th does the F1 do F4 damage)
For 1997 the cgi for the tornadoes was absolutely incredible. This movie is a legend & what I grew up with. I became a storm chaser for the NWS partly because of this movie. It only accelerated my passion for the storms. For me twister's "Humans Being" by Van Halen is my music for storm chasing. I blast that one on my way to a major storm. Storms fear the sound of a SKYWARN storm chaser. Of course I must pay respects to legendary Bill Paxton "The Extreme" & Seymour Hoffman "Dusty."
1996, but yes. Digital Domain did great job with Twister and Dante's peak as well, both these movies had incredible cgi. More realistic than in nowadays movies, tbh, if talking about tornadoes. The ones in Day after tomorrow and Into the storm...those looked more like computer game ones, and you'd think in nowadays cgi would've grown to be more realistic.
@@AJ1987LV Into the storm really did look like computer game stuff in comparison. The only other movie that has realistic tornadoes is the movie Supercell that came out I believe in 2021. The storm footage in that movie was real & from storm chaser Pecos Hank. That movie I can absolutely relate to the young boy in the film. The way the story goes, I was once that kid in high school.
@@jamhousestudios5596 CGI in the new film "Twisters" looks so real in some scenes that if I hadn't known it was CGI I would honestly say it looks 100% real. Universal has impressed me with the CGI & I'm not easy to impress when it comes to tornadoes in movies.
Boy of the Millennium Force I have my childhood movies (even tho I watched them when I was 6 in 2011) it was the first time I watched twister, the day after tomorrow
I love how the poster art in this video has the release date of May 17th. It's actually my birthday and Bill Paxton's! Having the Extreme as a birthday twin is such an honor and I became absolutely giddy when I found that out! I was born the very next year when "Titanic" was released. Thank you, Bill, for being a part of our childhoods.
After watching the film for the first time when I was much younger I’ve always wanted to see a tornado too. But it’s much more difficult living in the UK
@@MrPDodge I don't really know. I've missed two opportunities for seeing one near where I live. The second time I could have seen it if I looked down the street. I think statistically we get more than the US but the majority go unreported as they occur in remote locations. I've always wanted to come to the US though and go chasing them
I love how they utilize the choir to display the terror and majesty of the twister, but the brass instruments add a heroic sense of adventure. Such a diverse score. Very underrated 🖤
IMO a few of these soundtracks should be slightly altered for the new movie, more specifically Wheatfield and House Visit at the very least as they're the most iconic and memorable, kind of like what Rise Of The Beasts did with the Arrival To Earth theme.
This soundtrack always gave me chills listening to it. The movie scared me as a child, but now I can watch it knowing its just a movie. Not to mention that I live in an area that doesn't really have frequent tornadoes.
This could easily be my favorite film score ever. Criminally underappreciated. The whole Eye of God part would be a Super Hero's theme song in another universe.
I watched twister so many times that every time i hear the soundtrack i can mentally hear the movie lines too XD, best film ever!!!! RIP EXTREME & DUSTY
Really great job on the editing, what I would love to see is this maybe put in spotify or a CD someday, as it's only one of it's kind, but that would be nice.
I am not kidding you, for the longest of time I always thought this score was composed by James Horner. And then when I was looking it up I was confused by the name xD
I've seen it on my dvd so much in elementary school, i can't go through the title screen without it glitching, i still have it. Luckily my dad recorded it on the DVR or was it called the VCR i'm not sure....
I went through 4 vhs tapes be watching it since as long as I can remember, then I watched it on dvd and wat hed it enough times the disc won't read it anymore twice. I understand.
Wait, from the creators of Jurassic Park and the director of Speed? Well then! Guess that explains why the music is awesome! And the amazing chase scenes with the tornadoes!
Hiya. Thanks for uploading this really nice symphonic version. Do you remember where you got this track? It doesn't seem to be on any of the official CDs. (By now the original Mancina score is really hard to come by unless you're willing to shell out 65 bucks or more.) Thanks for your help!
Glad you enjoyed it. This suite was actually edited together by me from the tracks on the score album. That's why it doesn't exist anywhere else but on this channel.
Every time I start a chase, I play either this or Humans Being by Van Halen! Love this music, it's a shame it's so hard to find the original score on CD
Same! Always so much fun to pick up another friend to chase with (he was raised on Twister) and set out to NE CO or the Plains with our chase car. We ALWAYS play this as soon as we start to approach ANY rotation 😂
I listen to this soundtrack in my car at least once a month and just run the gamut of emotions. It is my second favorite movie of all time and this score is a huge part of that. It evokes emotion & really sets the stage well. It audibly addresses the majesty & overwhelming/unyielding force of nature that a tornado is. I could go on forever about this movie
