So the “humps” (I call them arches) are what I like most about this style but what I’m convinced I can’t duplicate. I have arthritis and I’m concerned about my ability to reproduce such exact work with cones. A paint brush would be impossible. Maybe a paint pen? Oh - how did you get a sharp metal compass point to stay on a sloping, slick gem without it sliding off??? I suppose I could start with a paint dot the size of my gem and then use the compass on canvas while painting then, after it’s finished, attach the center gem. But I feels like since it’s the eye of the whole piece it should be the focal point from the very beginning.

Cone work can take a toll on the hands and fingers, so it's important to exercise and regularly stretch them. If you have arthritis, you may find this a little difficult. I can recommend practising with a cone with a very wide tip so you don't have to press as hard the for the paint to flow - although, this won't give you small, intricate lines. You could try paint pens or markers with a very thin tip? You can get these in metallic colours. You just won't be left with the raised, textured effect but they will still do the trick! 💛

and as for the compass.. haha! Sooo I no longer do this, but what I did to begin with was press the sharp tip of the compass into the centre of the rhinestone so it would have a little indent. Once it was stuck down firmly, the tip of the compass would then just sit tightly in the hole/indent I'd created earlier. I wouldn't recommend this though, it does slip and it gets quite fiddly. I like your idea better, haha, I might just try that! In recent pieces, I do all my compass markings first or I add the centre rhinestone at the end. xx

@@beyondhenna- I literally just got a special 4 pack of Posca metallics plus white! Great $ on amazon Black Friday. If they work, I want to try Acrylista. I keep pushing myself to acomplish things healthy hands can do. I'm home chef level with savory cooking, have mastered macarons and am intermediate with royal icing cookie decorating. Mandalas and macrame are next. I'll watch your cone videos and will share whatever happens. Maybe i leave the stone pouring for others. Thanks for your sincere and realistic advice! ♥
