I've seen this several times before, but watching it today on here, I realized what a fantastic acting Kim Crosby does is in this.

I think it's so wonderful how two of the weakest characters who couldn't make up their own minds were guiding the two strongest characters... so sweet... What a wonderful play! I was in the orchestra pit for this-- flute and piccolo... my sister was the stepmother! :)

That usually happens for most shows. People clap more for the parts they see as "better" for whatever reasons they have. Plus Bernadette Peters is beyond amazing (the witch). Also the curtain call tends to be organized by part, going from smaller and/or less important roles up to the biggest/most important character.

Cinderella looks very pretty at 0:43 seconds. And Danielle Ferlands' (Little Red) teras are real in that scene. There must have been such emotion in the atmosphere.

Oooh, Bower as Jekyll would be fun. :) And no better way to stretch an actor's legs than to have him play both hero AND villain.

we did this whole musical at our school. it was great. a lot of things messed up though. like the golden agg broke and things like that. it just made it even more funny because we had to add lib to make up for it.

Our school did this musical three years ago. I never saw it, though. Although, I was even more interested when I discovered that it was a Stephen Sondheim production. Sweeney Todd (the film)was what I saw first. It's excellent, as is this musical. Heck! Who am I kidding? I just love musicals!

This is a brilliant musical, and I love it, but I must say it is very very very dark! The first act is all happy and cheery, but act two is so so so dark and has a lot of dark overtones. Still great though.

Well, I'd really like to see Kristin Chenowith and Idina Menzel take up the roles again, since both of them have proven their worth on screen as well as stage, and basically ARE the parts. But I really have no idea on my own.

For all you Hardcore "Woods" fans out there, I plan on directing this movie once I make it to Hollywood. You needn't worry that I fuck it up, I've been watching this play ever since I was 5 years old (on a crappy old VHS that I STILL have :P). Rest assured, I'll be fighting as hard as I can to cast Bernadette Peters as the Witch. She's a bit older now, but she's still hot and, come on, who ELSE could play her?
@SweeneyTodd98
@SweeneyTodd98 15 лет назад
Lol yep.I love it he did that amazing
@CherryFairy02
@CherryFairy02 16 лет назад
Well, originally, fairy tales were told to distract children from the harsh lives that they were living, thus violence was not quite so shocking to them. However, in OUR society, I believe children should be spared of violent and morbid themes until later on in life. Then again, that's just my opinion.

I have the same feeling about adapting a certain musical to film-for me, its either Wicked or Jekyll & Hyde. My ideal leads for the two musicals would be Emma Watson and Natalie Portman for Glinda and Elphaba (Harry Potter and Star Wars united!) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Anthony in the Sweeney Todd movie) for Jekyll/Hyde. The latter may be more likely when he matures a few years, but the Wicked leads may be different, but you can't help dreaming, right?

If you watch very closely on "Sometimes the spell may last", you'll see the Mysterious Man in the Narrator's spot, thus loosely explaining the connection between the Narrator and the Mysterious Man!
@harrietamidala1691
@harrietamidala1691 16 лет назад
quoting sondheim, I'd rather have actors who can sing than singers who can act-and I want the whole package. Alright, so my dream leads for Wicked may not be likely or realistic, and it is not a good suggestion (I'm reconsidering that myself). Who would you recommend for Glinda and Elphaba, since my suggestions aren't well liked?

What do you mean? Rent conveys a message of licing life at the fullest, along with plenty of other messages. But, I DO agree with you that musicals should have meaning. Poppy little cheese-fest musicals are fun, but they pale in comparison to shows like these.

too bad Into the Woods had to compete against Phantom of the Opera for the Tonys-ITW should have won best musical (the 2002 revival is, at best, in my opinion, a make-up for not awarding the original production-it looks like cheap high school production! Unlike this original beauty).
