@@seahorse0009 Hehe, that was a bit of a generalisation I made wasn't it? Really the comment I replied to made me laugh and what I wrote I didn't really think about. But admittedly, I do assume all INTPs are witty based on the fact that all the ones I know are - to my sense of humour at least :). So yeah you based on your personality test probably are too in my mind if you're an INTP. Weird, hmm, I dont see INTPs as weird, but I do get very confused trying to figure out other people. Do you see other personality types as weird?

@@upsidedownkingdom5263 No, I don't. Well, I don't necessarily understand them, but I don't think that they are weird; just someone who I am not. After all, if there was only one true personality, then no one would have a personality. But it's not like I dislike people because of their personality, I'll be friends with them, it's just that we won't understand each other. So no, I just don't understand them, I do not think that they are weird. That probably made absolutely no sense but whatever.

I do - one minute we are having a great time and the next they are extremely mad at me and I can't quite figure out why :). Oh well, as long as we understand that we need the strengths of our differences, we probably don't need to ever understand each other fully.

i feel social when i am alone and i feel alone when i am social Edit: It's been 2 years since i posted this comment and it seems like a lot of people have the same experience of ther inner world when socializing or trying to. I just wanted to say that i don't feel like this anymore. Change is possible. I had a job for 18 months where i was forced to communicate with hundreds of people everyday, in person. You really have to put in the effort and try to get out of yourself. Before when i was standing in a group, i really felt out of place every time. Like a black hole who sucks in the good energy because of the lack of ability to contribute to a conversation or just hanging around and having fun. Look at your body language, your face and really try to be in the moment. I learned that it is a skill and not that i am born an introvert and can't do nothing about it. If you are a student or generally young take maybe for some time a job where you have to communicate with a lot of people, for example a waiter. I am now 21 and feel like for the first time in my life, that i belong to a group when we talk. In the beginning I used the trick of snapping my fingers in front of my face, the sound of it and the action brought me out of my head. Stop listening to your constant rush of thoughts and FEEL the energy of the people and give them also yours. Life is about people and relatshionships. Also: Put your thoughts into something creative, maybe it just has to get out. I discovered for example my love for creative writing a year ago and I am working on my first novel. Good luck.

Exactly, if they would just give me the world, I would show them how to run it. Everything has a specific finite logic. I usually understand perfectly what I am trying to convey to the listener, but if I'm too tired, in the moment of thinking, or just not in the mood; my explanation of the perfect socio political system, jazz chord melody arrangement, or electronic repair, just comes out...".....uh...shoe". Then, two seconds after it no longer matters, I think of the perfect analogy or explanation of my original idea.

"INTPs hate rules." False. We hate /bad/ rules. If the best reason is "Because I said so" and there is a laundry list of exceptions, then yeah, we're going to challenge those so-called rules. We want /good/ rules, but we just say "truth" instead.

Why is only maths and science considered so great for thinking. what about creating music, what about developing stories and concepts, or poems which can make people cry. It's sad that only 3% of population is like this.

Actually music is pretty related to math (many musicians are good at math) I used to hate math (mostly because I was so lazy and I didn't bother to do anything to improve my grades) before knowing how to play bass and guitar, after practicing a lot, my grades went up and I find myself doing math problems when I need inspiration in order to create more music. It's all about creativity, doesn't matter if it's science or art.

It's not sad. I have reading somewhere that as if we look at the all humans as a one being, cognitive functions are naturally well balanced. Imagine if 50% of population were thinkers, that would mean that world have too much people that think but don't actually make things. Portion of isus made to inovate and think, majority is here to actually do that job by following our rules if that make any sense. INTP and INTJ, biggest thinkers of all personalities, but do we enjoy working for others? Following rules and not questioning them? Not really. Its often said that science is for INTP because of thinking and the nature of work(you often work alone). But that doesn't mean you can write, create music etc. Those are skills and can be learned by anyone with enough will. It's just that different personalities have different approaches to all those things.

Glowing Gaze Obviously there is but when you create music you don’t need to know anything about maths. You create from your soul and there is no equation for your soul. You don’t need maths if you are creating music. There is difference between playing an instrument and creating pieces from it.

Real maths is maths like John Nash(just an example) Where you think and create. Not our school maths where we don’t have to think shit. It’s pathetic and holds no purpose. The kind of maths he is talking is the useful one which theoretical physicist use. So please he is talking actual math which is not done to get a stupid A or B grades and be such a good and nice student it’s done to change the world or explain how things work in the universe.

I'm a stay-at-home mom and wife. I get to listen to lectures, documentaries, etc. I also get to instill information and truths to my children. I'm homeschooling them. I don't want to send my children to school and have them come out like the rest of society. I'd rather teach them my self rather than have to undo bad information or stuff in missed or incomplete information after they've had a whole day of school. Plus, I don't like rules. Especially when I view them as a waste. Most of the time at school is wasted on classroom management. You can teach a single or up to 5 children an entire day's worth of school in 2-5 hours and use the rest of the day doing other productive things.

I am an INTP and have to say i find lots of interest in music, sports, philosophy, psychology but absolutely hate subjects that involve math. Im able to express my introverted thoughts through the music and I can lose my self with philosophical theories that I one day hope to find the answers to. It's definitely hard. Especially during training for a new job/position. People telling me what/how to do something but when asked why it's done that way, they get frustrated because they don't know. Best advise I can give, learn it, then try it different ways to determine the reason. It's a long stressful process for sure but learning something vs understanding something is completely different.

@@teefpowder9770 Ha! So true. I found out that I had amazingly fast analytical/reasoning/pattern recognition skills not too long ago. I got treated for anxiety and the skills just blew up. I always knew that there was something there hiding under the surface all of these years. Gut health = mental health as you know. Had I remained extroverted, I might not have recognized the change after treating the anxiety.

I usually don't notice an emotion until it spills out. I usually don't pay much attention to them, and I get annoyed when they spill out. I don't like having to deal with my emotions. I'm not a big fan of other's emotions either. (exhausting) They make things more complicated and get in the way. Like my fear of failure. It's just a feeling but it can send me into a depression then I can't seem to get anything done. ANNOYING!

nope, I only did okay in school because I was almost always bored.. I couldn't handle my classmates asking questions that seemed so simple to me, so I just blacked out, listened to the teacher as much as I could and that was usually enough to get decent grades without wasting another minute on homework :D

It’s surprising to see intps on here saying they hate math. I love math, it’s logical, you are presented with a problem and there are multiple ways to solve it and get a solution. I’m not very good at memorizing mental math like doing multiplication in my head, but give me a graphing calculator and I’m great at algebra, wondering if I should become a mathematician, engineer, research scientist, etc. but math does appeal to me greatly

I kinda suspect that a lot of them had rigid math teachers, which stunted their confidence to experiment with math. I don't like math that much in itself, but my brain would find ways and/or reasons to use it. I've always felt I'm better at math than I am at science, but I enjoy science more. As far as math my brain still reuses, the Pythagorean Theorem is the main deal, and sometimes I'll look at median vs. average if someone references a graph or data set. If I'm bored and want some number pondering food I'll go and reference Pascal's Triangle, or the Fibonacci Sequence.

I was thinking about that too. We're not driven to completion- that's an INTJ thing. I drop things I was previously interested and invested in all the time. I have a few half written stories too. I researched my material (for accuracy) to the point I wasn't interested in the subject or writing about it anymore at all.

Well, now I know why I'm not good at being friends with someone. I can befriend people easily enough I suppose, but after a few days I just lose contact with that person and don't really care about it. I only notice how alone I am when I realize that my classmates are making plans, going out, and having fun without me. That's when I became emotional and cry when I'm alone, but then I get over it and I feel fine on my own again. Life goes on.

I find it really annoying when I have to explain something more than one time. I even find it annoying to explain things in the first place because I expect people to just work their way through any any task or problem in an analytical logical way, like myself. However, I also realize that most people just prefer to be fed the solution to their issues rather than use their own brain. And of course, I have to be "polite and respectful" in order to not "hurt their feelings". The worst kind of people are (not evil people, just among the regular ones) are those who just state that they have some problems with their feelings. Like "oh, nobody loves me" type stuff. What the heck are we supposed to to about that? People are a hassle to deal with in general.

My gosh I know! I hate it when someone’s just having a tantrum and crying about how they get bad grades but then they mess around and don’t even take notes in class. I mean what do you expect? Of course if you have some sort of mental situation that makes it harder for you, you can go and get some official declaration from a psychiatrist so you can find an education program suited for you but if you don’t and only complain then it’s just your own fault.

oh internally organizing ideas and theories or your works of art in your case are intp like.. I thought u meant organizing plans and people which is intj like. I agree this test is accurate in my opinion but you gotta realize its a spectrum. For me I am mostly INTP but only 60% introverted and 65% Thinking so I know that I'm somewhere between INTP and ENFP. Which kinda makes sense since both INTP and ENFP puts freedom and autonomy on a pedestal

I’m a 14 year old intp. A lot of the traits people say an intp should have I do have. However, I sometimes hear people saying that we don’t care about our physical appearance. From my experience, I usually need my ego to be stroked sometimes just to feel normal or feel good. Is this normal and for the older intps did you guys have this and do you still?

I got fired from every job I’ve ever had except the one where the boss died. Supervisors think we INTPs are slow, doing nothing but I have a theory. We see the end then figure out the steps to achieve it. Other people tinker around with process first so they look busy. Anybody else solve problems this way?

I’m kinda like you guys except that I like going through really fast over and over, and then deconstructing and then rebuild the said concept/subject/topic until I have a solid understanding of the concept/subject/topic. Even then I repeat this process for the next month to year until I can confidently say I understand this concept/subject/topic. Also all the slashes were added in while writing this cause I felt like it wasn’t clear enough about what I was talking about.

I love being an INTP, though its hard for others to understand me or my thought process to me its like following the red string from point to point. I really dislike it when my friends say "oh that's good enough" I'm like no but its not it can always be better if you just try. I've found it hard to talk to people about things not supported by facts. Even watching this video I've wondered if his facts are right and then had to compare them to many other web pages and videos about INTP. I can say the best match for an INTP when it comes to love or a life partner is an INFJ. I've found mine and we work extremely well together.

I'm an early childhood educator (so good for studying authentic human behavior), an artist (abstract painting) and an artisan (clear resin jewelry with real nature cast inside). I have this wild drive to learn. If I'm interested in something I'll learn about it for however long it takes me to get distracted by something else to learn about (I do the same with skills). I will rearrange my entire worldview after learning and researching new facts.

Hi ! Well... Due to a lack of reviewed data for obvious reasons, such as human cloning being illegal in France and me lacking the funds and hideout to do such a thing, none can accurately answer your question. However, I've been said by my mom and many of my father's friends and former co-workers that I had reactions just like his, while I've only met him thrice in my 19 years long life (early divorce). But these few times were enough for me to realize that he was as much of an INTP as I am, just a more frustrated and thus not really nice version. On the other hand, one could tell you that twins, although they share the same genetic material, are often of different personality types even when they're brought up together... So I guess both parameters have an influence. Or we could ask Divayth Fyr...

Your upbringing plays heavily into your personality, however it settles when you are rather young. It can change wih conditioning but it is incredibly difficult.

Well you’d have to clone yourself as a baby and then place the two in different households with entirely different upbringings, then I’d say they’d be different. Humans are creatures of habit, and habits can be picked up from parents. Therefore altering the human , hence the two would be different even though they’re the same. I forgot to add morals and ethics but yeah lol.

@@targitausrithux2320 They use opposing functions though, so in that case it makes less sense. The functions Te and Ti, as well as Fi and Fe, are complete opposites. I recommend looking into all the functions and judging your type from them. It'll be more accurate than a fallible test, where the answers can fluctuate depending on your mood and memory.

"IT Guy" for a US chip maker. I analyze everything and I find myself constantly searching for "motivators" for other people's behaviors to answer the question "why did he/she do or react that way?" I don't necessarily have anything against watching television, but I never do it because I have too many other things that I need/want to do and it is so passive. I am married (my wife was a math major and works as a software tester) but I don't really have any close friends. I train my Weimaraners for bird hunting but a huge chunk of the draw for me is the solitude while watching my dogs work in a tall grass prairie or wheat field 25 miles away from the nearest paved road. I always question my beliefs and put my beliefs up against my own BS detector. I am what I am and there isn't much that I can do about it. ;-)

We work as analytical as we could but even as an INTP, what i think drives us the most is our passion. Yes, i know that passion is what drives everyone to do stuff but it's magnified to us. Being so pessimistic and skeptical to the point of questioning life, itself, when we get to find a field where we're so damn passionate about, this is when we get to shine.

I am the same. I've taken many different tests(even a paid one in college) and I have always gotten the same results. I am INTP but my T/F section is always about 55%T/45%F. And I think it is due to the way I think of the world. I put a high value on human emotions in whatever circumstances they might arise. I do think emotions interfere with logic and reasoning, but I also think there's a time and place for logic and in depth conversations/concepts to be thrown around. When emotions are high is not one of them. Or when the potential for emotions is high. Also depending on each individual situation. I just respect the fact that there will always be people more emotional than me, and their emotions are not something to be easily swatted away like a mildly annoying fly (like mine) lol, and there's a strong possibility they can't actually do that like i can. Using my INTP functions I think that I came to a decent conclusion and understanding of how logic relates to emotions in other (more emotional) people. Something like... other people's emotions aren't some useless bullshit thing to be trifled with or manipulated or bybassed, but something to be respected and dealt with in a correct way(compassion), difficult as it may be...

I do well in my caring career. I'm an early childhood educator. I really enjoy working with young children who haven't begun to hide their authentic selves. I'm not very sympathetic when they ignore my safety warnings then trip on something while running inside (obviously I still take care of them, but remind them it's their own fault and can learn from their mistakes), but I genuinely get excited to see them grasp new concepts, or get really excited about what we're doing that day. Children fall down knowledge spirals just the same as I do, and I get to help guide that. The ONLY aspect of my career I struggle with, stems from the fact that most people who work with young children are completely different than myself.

It doesn't involve having to bathe them, pick up their vomit, dress and feed them, wipe their asses, or comfort them every time they feel down. I used to teach as well, and while watching my (adult) students process and grasp everything I taught gave me a personal high, I absolutely hated having to go home and spend my free time creating lesson plans/printing/prepping materials/grading. I'd rather just work a reg 30 hr job that I hate than work 40-60 hrs/week teaching others. I'll leave that to the ESTJ's. That gives me more free time for the various hobbies and things that I love. INTP's are a touch selfish, which is probably why we're often disliked (although we tend not to care, since that opens up even more freetime).

It’s great that I learnt my personality as an INTP earlier in life. Since now I’m aware there’s some things that are natural for me to do, especially when it comes to weaknesses. Strangely I have a disliking to math, as it doesn’t capture my interest. This kinda ruins my grades, but I have a passion for English, History and Science because those are informations I find I can use in a future debate. I also find that looking for careers and hobbies I’m interested is hard. Since I can never finish any projects. And lastly I dislike how easily I can become distant with my friends since I can’t help them emotionally. I love being an intp an all, but I wish I can somehow improve or over come my weaknesses. Since it effects me badly...

Middle school, high school teachers can be quit stupid. I have a lot of distasteful experiences with many of teachers growing up. I did get lost in the clouds a lot. It wasn't until I went to college that I felt appreciated, heard, seen. My professors loved me. I made strong friendships with four of them.

I'm according to the test INTP. Everything you said at the beginning sounds very relatable, maybe except for "read people well" as I have autism/asperger its actually a bit hard to determine just how well or badly I read people. I don't identify with everything said later, for example I have lots of decor at home and really appreciate it. And for occupation I work in a wood factory, which sounds nothing like the occupations you suggest. I generally think its valid to settle for "good enough" in occupation, especially with how hard it is to get a job today, and its either way not the norm to love your job. From what I usually hear of I'm lucky to have a job I can tolerate and not be constantly stressed/worn out from

But as far as relationships go, im married to my intuition and intellectual ambition. I am an INTP, I got moderate grades in high school without doing a lick of homework, literally, love learning new things (particularly when I find it interesting). Have a bad habit of correcting people over the smallest of things. I love to debate/ I’m very argumentative, push the boundaries of rules, like figuring out how to do things my own way and I am quiet but always thinking and getting lost in my own thoughts, at first I thought I had ADD but I soon came to realize I just think a lot and love thinking

I believe I'm an INTP but I don't know about "reading people" ability bc I'm rarely around them.

So am i the only INTP that's empathetic ? that's a full package for me . I can think logically and emotionally which advances my knowledge on human behavior . I'm not emotional just empathetic to a certain degree since i have dealt with trauma as a child . One time at lunch ,while i was sitting with friends . One of my friends said she wanted to play basketball ( wnba ) when she goes to college and my logical ass just stared at her while my friends stared at me . i wanted to say " what the fuck , how ? you're like 5'4 and you're a people pleaser " but i didn't want to hurt her imagination . She has so many unrealistic expectations that annoys the hell out of me ! I also hate when people ask the dumbest most simple questions . When i critic peoples statements , i won't be surprised if people see me as a bitter know it all . OBV they don't understand common sense .

Any other INTP ever find them self always playing devils advocate on ideas. Im not exactly sure why I do it either but for some reason I will take the opposing stance on a debate even tho my ideas somewhat align with theirs just to challenge the ideas (in a way to challenge myself).

4:40 unfortunately i have an ESFP who sit beside me on class she is annoying. she does not listens to facts and logic ,does not understand maths even after 20 minutes teaching on a single question , I bet she is trying to make me just tell her all the answer. No, i can be almost 99% sure about that
