When I tried skipping it, the game told me that the servers were offline. I rebooted the game and watched the intro and it led me to the tutorial just fine. I think they take treason very seriously LOL
Showing Sympathy towards the enemy is early signs of traitorous conduct, please report to your nearest Helldiver Recruitment Center for reeducation and deployment to the frontline.
The Automatons showing up was something that happened after release as a surprise, hence the lack of promotional material about them. Supposedly, there is a 3rd enemy faction inbound eventually as well.
I love how in this game you don't have some basicass loading screen, instead you have a hellpod shooting towards the planet and epic music pumping you up for what's about to happen next. I didn't even realize it was a loading screen the first few times I saw it.
@@mmarshfairc3 I just imagine they are in the same universe. While you kill bugs for 710 on the surface, the dwarves mine for metal and resources underneath to fuel the war machines.
I think my favorite transition in the whole game is when you go to a different location on the same planet. Messes with my brain watching the ship go from one place to the next. It's just so fun to watch.
@@aguy7095i think you mean to say managed super democracy 😂 you got 2/3 right though so I will refrain from reporting you to the nearest super democracy officer 😅
I love that the bile titan and the little ‘uns surrounding it aren’t being aggressive towards the Helldiver in any way until after he shoots it in the head. Sounds like that’s more or less exactly what happened with first contact with the Terminids, they weren’t hostile towards us at all and then we realized they could be harvested for something useful and- [ILLEGAL BROADCAST TERMINATED]
@@paulsd9255 Yep, it is implied that "Liberty" is their God, or something akin to it. Same with the "flag." I think government is their religion and liberty is somehow an icon in it.
I love the details in this cinematic. Like how that seemingly idyllic suburb has drones flying over it and masked, armed guards in the street. This game is a satirical masterpiece.
Same cars, same houses, same clothes . Looks like the real comunism, but in that case they have a money and the soilders collect them to by new equipment.
When people legit falls for satrical exaggrated deconstruction of the military industrial complex, this is why there is always more meat in the meat grinder baby! Yeeha!

Intro and tutorial was the best I've played in years. Didn't feel like a chore and all I could think about was being a kid and watching starship troopers.... now I wanna watch it.
Agreed! Also, the hellpod launch loading screen never gets old for me. That triumphant music playing while your hellpods are burning through the atmosphere which sounds incredible with a subwoofer. Gives me chills everytime!
Getting blasted to bits by the gatling turrets because I was too busy loving everything I was seeing and being balls deep in starship troopers nostalgia to see the blood on the ground ad register it as a warning might be one of the greatest moments in a tutorial I've ever had. Genuinely jumped in my seat when the guns opened up and ripped me a new asshole.
It would be difficult to get the same satire into an add where they do this to people and not bugs, at least without it becoming completely genocidal^^
But it does! "Be all that you can be!" or "Army Strong" like, bitch, I'm on profile for running 10 miles on Monday and sit around doing absolutely nothing in hopes to actually shoot my gun.
@@asare240Yeah there seems to be two types of recruitment videos irl, one that tries to build up soldiers as some sort of superhuman brotherhood of warriors, or the other that appeals to their humanity and solidarity with the people they are supposed to protect. Sadly the former is the "normal" method as it's easier to make people feel special than helpful.
On May 6th, 2024, the year of our Liberty, Helldivers from across Super Earth stood side by side in solidarity and defeated Sony’s tyranny. We put aside our petty differences and strifes as we demonstrated the true power and greatness of humanity. For Liberty. For Democracy. For Freedom.
Pure Democracy, Liberty, Supreme and more. No cringy stuff, mediocre animation and narration, etc. Oh, and don't forget the most important ones, that is "pew pew haha bugs go kaboom" instead of bragging the fact that you have two moms.
Guy in civilian clothes - what a goofy looking guy Guy now with buzz cut in helldiver armor - dang he looks pretty cool Puts helmet on - I’d follow this guy into hell itself
The greatest and funniest part of this game is the community it builds. Because the game is designed in a way that everyone is always working together and not against each other in the name of a funny parody of global nationalism, every player is always supportive of each other to the end. That's exactly why Sony's attempt to exclude some players fell so flat and even a massive corporation like Sony was forced to retract their decision. When you build a community like that, you create the ultimate force against such decisions. Sony created the perfect weapon to fight against their own plans.
As a fan of the first game, I absolutely loved how they went all-in on the starship troopers vibe in this one. I was cracking up. Fun fact: if you use a machine gun and fire an entire mag in one go, your character will shout “FOR LIBERTYYYYYY”
And pressing the stim button while out leads to some panicked, guttural cries for more stimpacks, lmao. This game picked a theme, and rode it hard, I absolutely love it.
@@zhassulan.omar92Afrikans themselves just enslaved their fellow African brothers and sold them out to other masters. Europeans didn't even have to lift a finger, all the slaves have been already enslaved by various african warlords.
A lot of the lines in this game had a great amount of consideration to pick on. So to prove that you are worth your citizenship, you have to fight for it in a hellish war that never ends. But it also means if you can overcome the hell you're forced to be in, would ironically give you the greatest sense of freedom. It's propaganda yet it's empowering despite sounding so cheesy at times and making you fight for your life just to be a citizen.
The transition from victim to an aware man and then the snap with his armor +shaved head +the bloodthirsty eyes and expression of an angry predator, along with the theme song make the most epic scene transition I have seen with my life. This quality of production does not belong in games. This game is way beyond it's supposed pay grade. Imagine what these guys would accomplish with 10x the resources and the level of talent and inspiration they brought to the table.
The first grenade I throw every mission is the beacon for precision Orbital Bombardment. Waiting for that sweet Orbital Laser. I WILL have a Hammer of Dawn on my ship, Hammer of Dawn. No, I didn't know it was an option when I named the ship, but I absolutely joy-shrieked like a school girl when I found out it was an option.
Can't help but kinda love how it subtly pointed out a weakspot in that bug through the cinematic. Getting a headshot with a spear rocket in particular is practically enough to instakill it at times.@@Merc7734
When I first saw the intro it took me a good bit to realize the guy was cg amazing how high quality the game is and its not the usual nearly $100 asking price. More games need to be like this.
Unreal 5's new cinematic tools are next level. I saw a video where they did a demonstration. Had an actress come out and do some lines with a cell phone recording her. Live on stage they transferred her footage into in game CG in like 3 minutes and it looked great.
“Why would we drop right in the middle of the nest we need to destroy?” “I hate walking” Seriously, has anyone tried dropping hellpods right onto egg patches? I’m wondering if it would work.
So if u Helldive into a bug hole it destroys it but there is a chance that the pod will go inside completely still destroying the hole but u die on impact.
at 0:52, when he snaps his fingers is exactly when I opened my wallet and bought this game. Greatest transition in a videogame trailer in the history of Super Earth.
@@user-mrdVere the only one of those I have and support is steam so no, not really. If you don't even have a Playstation then it's BS to have to make an account to play a PC game.
@@user-mrdVere who said he likes having those other ones? sony is just a step to far, because the game didnt have it at launch, but then it did. only clown here is you
Tell this to 120 countries where the game was officially sold, but it may be taken away due to the lack of PSN service in the region. If you try using VPN, you will be banned for violating the agreement. I personally from Russia did not sell the game in my region, but I bought it as a gift in a steam through intermediary services, but here's the problem I can't register the PSN because the region's mail is not supported.
The animators for this game did an incredible job. Your running changes based on terrain, even gradient. The reload animations, throwing animations, even the transition from aiming to sprinting etc are incredible
*snaps* " Prove to yourself that you have the strength and courage to be free " idgaf, that transition goes hard mfker. Now 30 hours in, hhh boi did i miss this feeling of getting sucked into a game. Let's enjoy it fellas, for Liberty!
Everything from the hammy dialogue to the love letters of the best sci Fi movies dripped in every scene to the satire war propaganda recruitment video is absolutely genius. The Devs would be fools not to go all in. Hell, they could probably do a movie or two and invite the fans as faceless extras getting killed.. FOR LIBERTY!!
Not NEARLY enough people are acknowledging how well animated and how funny the facial expression at 0:29 is, I fucking love the happy to exaggerated shock/horror expressions!
Literally could not agree more… his facial expression animation probably was the first thing I noticed that made me laugh out loud and it’s one of the reasons I never skip this intro… ministry of truth mandates aside
It's not even just how funny the facial animation is, but how spot on and realistic it is. Pretty much every other attempt at realistic CG facial animations always look uncanny and weird, like their is this odd disjoint between the words they are saying and the way their mouths move. Like they are some kind of puppet. But in this trailer, the faces move so naturally and feel alive, I don't get that uncanny valley feeling. Could almost believe it was live action to be honest.
@@pjwander8998totally agree. Very first time I watched it I was like 'Are these graphics or people?" It's crazy, soon we won't be able to tell a difference between the two.
I saw this advertisement and a tear began to fall down my cheek and then turned into a bald eagle. Where is the nearest recruitment center? I must go to impart democracy. (?
Granted ST:E is only in Early Access while HD2 is in full release. Lets look at it upon release, infacht HD2's success might help improve and steer ST:E : ) I like games from indie devs.
I went to college, got a degree... it was ok... but me earning my cape? Not gonna lie, cried just a little until I remembered that Heroes of Democracy dont cry!
Yoooo! I took Voice acting lessons from this guy. He's really nice and really well versed in it. Really cool to see him in this cinematic as a random surprise.
"Join....The Helldivers"....fckin Goosebumps. . . Chills. . .heart racing even 3 weeks later and I feel like I am letting someone, something, some group of collective colleagues or fellow soldiers down when I am not diving. For Democracy and for Freedom. HELLDIVERS EVERYWHERE! I SALUTE YOU.
I took my first dive this past weekend. Mark one more Diver on the roster. If a given diver is in need of anti-material sniper support, I got you. Keep hitting 'em until they choke on democracy itself. Godspeed and solid landings to you, Diver.
It is. You don't get slaughtered by bugs serving. You just give your life to liberty! The ultimate privilege! (THIS THREAD IS NOW BEING MONITORED FOR NON-DEMOCRATIC ACTIVITY.)
