By the way, not taking anything away from Mike because the guy is amazing, I've learnt a lot from watching his videos over the years.

If you have the ankle and hip joint mobility the knees will look wide like that as you are supposed to push your knees out during the squat (and deadlift) to create a stable position

Question: on the one arm complex - do you do both arms\legs at the same complex or do you do the other side on the next set? In that case, do you do 3 sets for each side?

Great info. Thanks. What about the length of the complex. How many sets for endurance?

the best part of the video for me is the gentleman explaining the movements while standing on his left hip during most of the video. :)

How come when he Squats his feet aren’t flat on the ground? How come he is primarily only on the outside of his foot?
@kickstartfitness3618
@kickstartfitness3618 10 лет назад
My immediate thought is not about how wide his knees are because I don't see that as a problem but how the guys ankles are supinated in the lowest position on the front squat, surely this is placing a lot of stress on his ACL in his knee?

Curious.....his knees really go out to the sides on the squats is that ok?
@kettlebellmusclegain
@kettlebellmusclegain 10 лет назад
laterally is fine it engages the hips and is safe on the knee joint . plus keeps the ankle from caving in
@wimtje
@wimtje 10 лет назад
I agree, he can go out with the knees , but be stable on the foot, his foot is supinating to much and loosing stability in the medial part of the foot!! He probably needs some work on stability and mobility of foot ;-).

Hmm I'm no expert but perhaps this has been inspired by Kelly Starrett's super knees out idea. Look at his feet going down into the squat position. The others saying that it's fine...... look at his ankles he's massively rolling outwards on his ankles on the way down. That to me looks bad and he could be straining his ankles and knees doing this. This opinion also correlates with my own personal experience doing those kind of movements

To the squat analysts. He's in running shoes on astro-turf. Knees tracking over little toe is perfect, BTW.

What is Boyle's relation with Stack? Is he a founder?

steezbird I don't think he is a founder. He's described as the coach/trainer for their Elite Performance Series of exercises and workouts.

That's how the guy squats. no need to pathologize physiological differences. honestly, you guys know nothing about the guy, his genetic makeup, his training or injury history. don't try to attribute issues without knowing anything about the guy.

I watched the whole video hoping he was going to give credit to Istvan Javorek and not just straight rip off the life's work of one of the greatest strength coaches to ever live... Unfortunately he did not. Sad indeed.

José Mendes I agree but this is all the rage in No California. Diane Fu and other well known coaches demand it.

Too bad for those who practice on these conditions. Hope they get smarter
@austinguhl4962
@austinguhl4962 8 лет назад
+José Mendes These are functional exercises specifically for athletes. The concentration is on form with light weight. If it were squatting for squatting sake, with the goal being to put up as much weight as possible, then you're right, this would be an injury waiting to happen. That's not the point of combos and complexes. Well, maybe it is in the crossfit universe but that is another story.
@josemendesno1
@josemendesno1 8 лет назад
I don´t like crossfit because the mouvements do not respect the range of motion, articulation properties and function, I just can´t understand what my eyes can see under any perspective...it´s just wrong. Can´t you see when he looses foot and knee stability? Not even a grandma would do that movement that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He talks about energy consumption with this "type" of complex of wrong patterns developed, but it´s just an excuse for the amount of ignorance. Any first year sports student would get that....honestly!
