Awesome video guys. I’m just now exploring getting competitive shooting outside of IDPA and want to do rimfire, but not much knowledge on where to start. This was very helpful.

Great video! I always appreciate someone doing videos on Rimfire stuff that are informative because there is such little out there and it’s growing. As far as the rifles go I tell everyone to NOT buy the Savage. It’s a good gun but the feeding issues are horrible. Some people don’t have them but a lot of people do. Mine has F’d me at some NRL22 matches and I’ve seen it happen to others as well. Forums are full of the complaint. I actually did a 30 second short video review that’s on my page about it. Great video though and I appreciate it! I’ll be forwarding it to some friends. Keep up the good work.

Very helpful video guys. Speaking as a complete noob and someone who has never shot one of these matches before, it was quite instructive to see what the stages would actually look like. Thank you. Well done.

What would be a good starter gun available with a left handed action, or would a semi auto be a better option for a wrong handed person?

Awesome Video, I am in Manitoba and I was wondering where do I go and what websites should I look at so I can get a start in rimfire PRS? also is Rimfire PRS exclusively .22lr or are .22 MAG and .17 HMR also included?

Hey, u can take a look at practiscore for any public matches happening nearby. You’ll connect with great ppl at those matches and probably eventually get your way into even better private events/ranges.

Great video guys. Full of good information. But please remember the 4 rules of gun safety though. It is something that we as competitive shooters are judged on, by the public. Yes I know the bolts were open ( rule #1 ). Beyond that, like I said great video, good content. Keep it up. Just subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to great vids with good info. May all your cross winds be lite, and consistent.

Good info. Just sorry you also spread the myth of transonic instability of the bullet. It is the consistency of manufacturing of the ammo that makes the difference. The same as with subsonic bulk ammo, it is not near competition class accuracy and consistency you will get from it. If manufacturers put in the same effort to manufacture high end supersonic ammo as they do with high end subsonic ammo, it will by just as accurate.
@OutdoorsAnonymous
@OutdoorsAnonymous Год назад
Thx for watching. I agree with what you’re saying regarding ammo consistency and quality. I’m just talking from my personal experience and there’s gotta be a reason why most if not all high quality 22 ammo are subsonic. However I’m no scientist nor have I scientifically tested out in detail the transonic theory so my mind is always open to the counter argument.
@L.V-Rider
@L.V-Rider Год назад
@@OutdoorsAnonymous The main reason why high quality, consistent ammo is subsonic is that it was used for target shooting from when .22 rimfire was used for competition the first time. It is low noise, low recoil ammo and that is wat target shooters from most if not all disciplines prefer and buy. Manufacturers make what is selling and therefore they concentrate on making the subsonic more consistent. High velocity ammo is used mostly for hunting and plinking and people mostly don't care about competition grade consistency when hunting and will buy anything that is expectable accurate / precise. For that reason manufacturers don't concentrate on making super accurate high velocity ammo. Eley does make a HV more accurate round but it is not there yet. If the market is there, other manufacturers will enter the race for accurate HV ammo and it will get better. But I don't think it will increase in competition use soon.

Based on my recent experience lot testing Lapua Biathlon Xtreme on a warm day, I think there is something to transonic instability. Running a chassis mounted Magnetospeed, I saw a direct correlation between velocity and group size / flyers while shooting 30 10 shot groups over several hours. I went from approximately MOA at 103 yd in the morning, to first round flyers from each mag, to several flyers (random POI) per 10 shot group which opened up the groups to 2 - 3 MOA. All my flyers corresponded to 1130+ fps (typically 1135+) while my MOA groups were all 1130- fps (typically 1125-). Transonic instability is not something I give much thought to as I typically shoot Center-X during summer and Biathlon Xtreme during winter but I'm curious if a 1:13 twist would behave better than a 1:16 in this region.
@Nerdthan2
@Nerdthan2 4 месяца назад
Then why does anything that breaks super sonic constantly throw flyers
@L.V-Rider
@L.V-Rider 4 месяца назад
@@Nerdthan2 The same reason why cheap subsonic ammo throw flyers. It is not manufactured as match ammo. Like the Geco subsonic with a extreme spread of more than 130 fps. You cannot expect that stuff to shoot accurate and not throw flyers. Most of the high velocity ammo is also in the same low cost category and not manufactured for best accuracy. If manufacturers want to build accurate high velocity ammo they can, but it will be more expensive and plinkers who normally shoot cheap high velocity ammo will not buy it as much. People doing competitions like subsonic because of the noise factor and manufacturers cater for that market.

What size are the targets typically at 200 yards and beyond? I have trouble hitting smaller than 6” targets just because of wind and also because of lack of skill 🤣😅

Really stage dependent but on average I’ve shot anywhere from 50-200yds. Some matches I’ve shot have targets out to 400+ (usually some sort of bonus round or side match) on regular targets safe to say within 200 yds on avg

@RS-dc7wy it’s the “schmedium game changer shooting bag” from Armageddon gear, if you have any local shooting shops they’ll probably stock it it’s a pretty popular one otherwise order it from Armageddon gear website! Wiebad makes good shooting bags too. I’d suggest getting the wax canvas one, the surface holds the rifle better
