Google has provided FREE UX content and some people in this comment section have done nothing but insult the instructor. A lot of you will never make in this field as you lack one of the key skill: EMPATHY!
Come on boot licker this is not free content, you pay $50 per month if it takes more than a week. They should be ashamed of themselves for not making these free. As they are they are mostly worthless.
One thing I am grateful for these videos: it helped me decide I don't want to do UX design right now. The video is so helpful breaking down the common work responsibilities and environment that it helped me realize that my strengths lay elsewhere. I was bent between this and the Data Analysis Certificate and couldn't tell where I'd be better off spending my time. Now that it's clarified I can tell I'd be too uncomfortable and feel more pressured between the many groups and goals involved in the UX Design career. I would lose my mind trying to balance everything, and instead will be better focused and constructive with the time needed to data and a smaller group for most projects. I really do appreciate the hard work and clarification of these videos, and I wish everyone luck in their self-taught journeys.
Bro, Data Analysis or Science pays way more and is more linear. That said I would not got for the Google certificate. I would get a Oracle Database certification course from Udemy, I would get the Power BI cert or the Tableau cert, and then Excel. Thats it... linear progression and make tons more money.
Just received the email today. So excited to start. Even though I've already spent a year studying ux on my own, a legit certificate from Google will definitely add some weight to my c.v!
This is a very good overview of user experience as a careere. The UX program at my local design school costs $7,000 so that's why I'm checking out this program. Google is making this program accessible for everyone. Both programs are teaching the same information and both give certificates.
I went shopping today....couldn't stop talking about Grow with Google...SEER...etc. Nothing but tech explosion on every mind. Way too cool to describe...everyone's talking. Doctors, receptionists, Hair Salons, Liquor\Tobacco shops, Grocery stores....WoW. Just Wowed. Thank you.
This was great a breakdown of everything from top to bottom. This video alone holds a lot of value. I've seen other RU-vid videos breaking this down in much more convoluted ways.
I'm really glad Google is branching out into other categories with their certificate programs. There is a strong need for targeted, middling educational programs like these and Google is well-suited to provide them. If I had one criticism about the production of these videos, it would be to not sacrifice clarity for interest. I completed the IT Automation with Python certificate about half a year ago. It was a great program; it had a diverse range of teachers, and they tried to keep it fun, but each one delivered their material is the same mind-numbing, even-paced, manner, verbatim to the script. It makes it pretty difficult to stay engaged in what the speaker is talking about. I still enjoyed the IT certification and I look forward to exploring the new ones, and overall I enjoyed this video as well....just trying to give some constructive criticism.
I'm excited about this! I already work in this field as a freelancer and there is definitely a lot of demand for good designers. I'm planning to attend this program to get the certificate and brush up on the fundamentals.
@Google if you REALLY want to make these certificates a game changer, get them all ACE certified so we can transfer the credits into a college degree later. Ensuring that these courses can become stepping stones to further a degree would literally change thousands of lives.
speaking of user experience: Google is an extremely rich company. They need to pay someone to write accurate closed captions. Auto-generated "craptions" don't count. Even rich companies don't want to get sued for not following accessibility laws. Google also needs to hurry up and add subtitles in many languages. So the users can experience their content!
The problem, at least from my perspective, is not a lack of learning, but the fact that there are now so many people getting into UX that the market is flooded. Companies have the luxury of picking the best of the best, and often even the best are willing to work for free as interns just to get a foot in the door at a top company. Another thing is that many hiring managers that actually got a degree in HCI or related, are very reluctant to hire boot camp grads. There is a lot of snobbery and ageism in UX and tech overall.
Yup. On the ageism. Yup on the snobbery. But isn’t it nice to learn new things? And anyways, who, in Silicon Valley , that is over the age of 18 doesn’t work, and or attend school already ? Hey, if you can’t add another 10 hrs week minimum to your already busy schedule.. you DEFINITELY cannot work HERE.
Amazing video by Google and the instructor in this video was so clear with his points that were actually important for landing in UX design life. The way he breakdown each and everything is highly appreciated . Thank you Google 🤗
Hello and thank you so much for uploading this course. Sadly, I tried to register and it's only available in the USA and Canada. I live in Argentina and I'd love to enroll on this and other courses.
Designing and developing a website is a complex and thought provoking process which encompasses many technical and non-technical elements. Linking these elements together is vital to creating a website; it should be both easy to find and provide an excellent experience for the user.
I received the email, I was super excited... but why are the OnAir information sessions (starting March 15) only available in the US and Canada? I tied to register but couldn't. This makes me think that the entire course will only available the US and Canada. I'm in Ireland.
You had me at history. I believe knowing history helps by understanding the origin or genesis, or reason something came to be. For example, how do IT terms come into being? Thank you!
I think most of the teachers are GPT 3 -g2 generated. The secret is looking for wardrobe repetition..... Probably based on the faces of the original composers. But it's hard to tell. Turing 5⭐
It’s a bit crazy to have that many ux roles. Usually, small and medium size companies have 1-2 designers that do all work from idea to high fidelity design. It’s often, a matter of luck to have a designer who also applies ux practices
Most times user experience roles are done by the same person it depends on the company like a smaller company would have one person doing research and design and a larger company would split it
✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️Lol. Fun fact: when they talk about UX roadblocks around clicking a button(min: 12-20) at the same time in their course Register form website “Submit” button doesn’t work 👀Haha. So they made user(me) to fill out the form and then made me hang without ability to complete it....interesting. I assume we will be able to register only at March 22 in between 1-2 pm EST. Sounds good but at least as a user I need to see modal about that after I click “Submit” or even disable “Register” button until March 22nd 1 pm EST.
can't waaaait!! I'm super ready too. I have just started to study on a international university (IUBH) in Germany Bachelor of Arts User Experience. This courser course will be a good advantage to my studies *_*
Hello Kim Im super interested in this BA user experience at IUBH. I'm already think about it for a month to start there. What is your experience so far? Can you recommend it?
While I have not read or seen any reference of Dr. Don Norman on user experience there has been some studies of user design and user interface back in the mid 80s. One of the best books was written by Willian M. Newman in 1987 ISBN 0-07-046332-8 . In Chapter 3 It focuses in the user interface but the entire book is as well a great starting point to understanding user experience.
can people from India take up this course too? I've been waiting for this since the longest of time but to register it says that we need to be currently residing in the USA or Canada
I think the registration that they sent through email was for an information session on the certificate. A seminar of sorts. I think the certificate itself is available worldwide.
Once they release the course it will be available through Coursera. That registration link was for just for some pre-course seminar but it was not to register for the actual course. I believe as long as you can access Coursera from your country, you should be able to take the course. So i will recommend you to definitely check it on Coursera once they release the course.
To access the full certificate program, including assessments and hands-on labs, you can take it through Coursera: goo.gle/44CzxwG. Once you complete the program on Coursera, you will receive your Google UX Design Certificate!
Being a user of many google services, It’s hard to believe you’ve got good ux design, even for main businesses like ads. Analytics, tag manager, gmail are pretty confusing. Only drive and docs are more or less convenient to use.
I was waiting for this course and I am grateful to Google for doing this. The only drawback I can see now is that the lector lacks emotions so the huge amount of info sounds overwhelmingly boring and hard to focus on. I do appreciate the emotional level of the Project Management course and The Data Analytic one.
