It's SO EXCITING bringing home a new dog!! And we all hope that the new dog will get along beautifully with any dogs we already have, but that isn't always what happens. So to increase the chances of getting your dogs relationships off on the right feet, I'm sharing 7 things that I do every time I bring a new dog home, whether it be a foster dog or one I intend on keeping. Plus, I give you my thoughts on letting the dogs work things out for themselves.

Help I’m kinda lost on what to do. Have a 7yr old Boston Terrier 25lbs and recently got a pit mix approx a year old who’s 50lbs and growing. Their both females and the Boston is the alpha. Anytime the pit gets worked up wanting to play the Boston goes after her and it’s getting more aggressive. The pit is still a puppy just wanting to play and it just gets her more worked up when the Boston goes after her. The Boston I’ll take to my moms to play wit her sister, who my mom has which she dominates her as well. While I was at work my gf’s 12yr old daughter was home alone and the pit had enough of the Boston and rolled her up for 20-30sec I was told. The Boston was scared that night, no blood drawn. I just think she had enough. Idk what to do cuz it’s only getting worse. Who do I correct, the pit puppy to calm down or the Boston who is set in her ways and was babied her whole life. She was the 1st and only Lil dog I’ve ever had and has that small dog complex. The pit has her crate and we use to correct her. The Boston has free run of the house. We’re about to call a trainer but anything I can do in the mean time?

Also I’ve had a Rotty & many boxers who I’ve never had any issues with. Unfortunately yes I’ve hit them to correct them in the past. Then I got my Boston, rarely ever hit her to correct her. Plus she was too fast. The new pit pup I don’t wanna got to correct at all, but putting her in the cage for her aggressive puppy biting, helping herself to anything on the coffee table etc. is only going so far. She was never taught any manners what so ever. But the basic commands she took to very quick. I know she can be a great dog. But a smack on the butt here or there isn’t the best thing for her?
