Introducing A New Object To Your Dog 

All dogs react differently to new or unfamiliar objects- how does yours react?

Our chocolate lab/aussie mix hated having her ears cleaned.. the smell of vinegar would send her running. One day I kinda cornered her and got her ear cleaned out and afterward gave her a treat as reward for allowing me to clean her ears. Now.. when she smells the vinegar she hops up on the bed and waits patiently while her ears are cleaned b/c she knows a reward is coming directly afterwards. Made the task of cleaning her ears so much simpler when we overcame her fear of the vinegar smell with the desire for the reward. I know that is not exactly what was described in this video but it is similar b/c now she is not afraid of the task of having her ears cleaned.. and as a result she is not injuring herself with the constant scratching at the inside of her ear. Simply turning a negative experience into a positive one in the dog's frame of mind makes everything easier.. for both of us. Peace

That is exactly as I got my Rottweiler's rid of his scared-to-death feeling towards muzzles. He used to be beaten wearing one. Now he will slide his nose through anywhere I put it, even 6 feet up in the air. He will stand or jump through it. Now muzzle means happiness, massive walks and eating right after.

I love my doberman she is my best friend lol literally hahahah. When i was getting a allergic reaction to my anyiobiotic she came to the rescue it was so weird to know she knew what was going on. She is amazeing forever thankfull for her keeping me calm☺

Hi Cesar I'm fairly new to your "fanclub" watching old episodes of all your shows & the newer stuff you post too. I'm a big fan, you've taught me a lot about 🐕 & how to teach & respect them. I've never had a pet before but about 2 yrs ago my sister moved from Colorado to Kansas to be near our parents. I live with them and she moved in with us until she could find a job she liked & a house she loved. So basically my parents & I got a dog too 🥰. He a great little Terrier mix & aside from a little barking here & there like when the school across the street gets out & all the little kids a walking or riding bikes home. Watching & learning from you has helped me cut this habit down & we are still working on it 🙏. Now my sister has moved out but we love the dog so much we make her share custody with us. He sparks joy for us & in return we give him the "grandparents/aunt" days with a bit more rules & affection than he's used to. All this is to say Thanks for helping me learn to be a better dog aunt & for the 1st time in his life teach him rules, boundaries etc, the right way to inforce such things & of course the right way to show love & affection ❤. Though Grandma has a hard time with the affection, affection, affection thing but I suppose that's her right after raising 5 kids she gets to spoils him & he always bring happiness to our home. Thanks for everything you do both for all the animals & humans. BTW what kinds of treats do you recommend the most? Jen from KCKS

I totally agree with all you are saying! It is all our energy - if we are doing something with the wrong energy nothing works! Thanks for the good advice to bring the dog back to his nose when he start to do things he shall not do. I would like to see a video from you how to stop the dog springing up and down and bite while he is playing with the kids - that would be awesome from you! Love XXXX

My dogs see their collars and leashes as leashes of freedom-- walk time!! They jostle for pole position and thrust their heads through the collars enthusiastically starting every walk with love and energy...not out of control. I never let them pull but lots of gratitude. 💖

Junior is busy living his best life, chewing balls and looking for treats. What a good dog.

Dogs make me smile .They talk with body language for instance ,my little dog says no thank you by assuming the Sphinx position .He doesn't like wearing a warm coat to bed,he liked it at first ,then he started to take it off.chewing the leg straps.Next night after fixing it he said no thank you by doing the Sphinx posture.. When I go shopping he sits and watches with anticipation .Did you bring me something,I nearly always have his packet of treats or a new toy .He waits patiently until I get it out of the bag, then shows much excitement and runs and plays with it .Or if it's treats he gets one ,runs to his room eats it and returns with a look of anticipation. Doesn't get one . Follows me to the treat cupboard where they go until later. If I ask him does he want to go in the car Sphinx position no thank you .He makes me smile a lot .Love your videos thanks Caesar.💕

Love Jrs collar! ❤ My pitbull, Luna, greets new items with curiosity & excitement. I have to redirect her to calmness quite often. But she's still an adolescent and learning. She'll get it! Also, I live in a cold climate. I don't leave her outside for long, I worry she'll get to cold. (I'm cold, she's cold) So "we" learned about how sweaters/coats mean more outside playtime. 😂 I have a Pitbull in Pink Pajamas!😂

I had two dogs when I introduced a kitten to the family. When we took both our dogs with us when we chose our kitten. My dogs were already well trained, so it was more what kitten fit in with the dogs. How did he react are them. My dogs were curious obviously, but, I made sure their curiosity remained respectful. We chose our kitten because he wasn’t overly frightened or excited. He just laid in our arms calmly as we passed him from family member to family member. All the while the dogs sniffed him. When we got home, dogs did get a bit excited because it was ‘a new toy’. Boundaries were set and after a few days they understood that this was a new family member. Not a toy! The elder dog paid him no mind. The younger more playful dog and the cat had staring then chasing contests. Then ignored each other. Then chased each other. Then slept with each other. Then chased each... etc. They were all great companions for one another. Do what works for you & your pets.

Thank you so much for posting this clip, I’ve been struggling a lot with my puppy. He’s a border Terrier, loves chewing, scratching & biting a lot 🤦‍♀️ he is a teething puppy after all! Me & my partner have introduced some great routines already from having owned two puppies a long time ago, but 👍 THANKS 👍 to this clip & CL’s Boston terrier (releasing pent up energy) the future looks bright 🤗🙋‍♀️

Cesar and Family, Thank you for what you do. I have an unfortunate thing to tell you. The little black puppy, Spock, passed away this past Friday(9Aug2019). However, the oddest thing happened. Another puppy came into our lives on the 14th of August. The new puppy was found at the front door of my Niece's house. No one in the neighborhood claimed him and he was not micro chipped. His name is Fáelán, meaing little wolf in Gaelic. Thank you and don't stop teaching the world.
