Hi Bill , I do miss building saws, but I wanted to hang up the old porting tools while I was still at the top of my game. My mind said “Just One More WestCoastMuscleSaw” But My body said Time To Throw In The Towel “ , Lol I enjoyed building for you and hope the WestCoastMuscleSaws last a long time my friend, Stay Safe and God Bless.

been watching you for years your videos have helped me become a better tech and solve a lot of issues on different types of saws keep pumping out the videos always really informative stuff! for example like the videos on the Stihl 362 m-tronic the issue with the intermittent wire had a bunch of those that came to the shop!! if I didn't see that video I would have been throwing parts at it save me lots of time and save the customer money and heartache! again thanks a lot for your time and effort on videos
@@WestCoastMuscleSaws we've done business in the past here and there on parts and on specialty tools, and some power heads I've had a 125 in my collection for a long time haven't had time to work on it it was used in Mount Saint Helens after the eruption and ingested some ash from the volcano so I was told kind of a cool story one of these days when you have time it would be cool for you to go through it see what it needs I know you're the master on those 125!!😂
I just bought a hyway titanikel big bore with a popup piston. I reused the oem circle clips. Other than that it's a good looking piston and cylinder. My kit came with caber rings. I only used one ring. I ground the transfers with a Dremel, and the plating did chip a little. It cleaned up but I'd be very careful porting one. I did not go crazy on the numbers. I may go more later after I run the saw some more. I'm cutting firewood to heat with so I don't need something over the top. The saw is a husky 372 xt converted to xp. I reused the larger xt carb.
I totally agree about the small engine business being very profitable I have been a timber faller for 30 years thinking about doing saw/small engine business full time any advice would be appreciated
I have a question i hope you can answer for me. I have a Husqvarna 335 XPT it's a great climbing saw well after we use it and sit it down it leaks out some oil especially storing it leaks all its oil so we place it in a cake pan. Hopefully you can help us with what to look for. Thanks for all your awesome advice
I ordered a Husqvarna 55 Hyway closed port cylinder kit a couple of weeks ago and the 1st cylinder came with a really bad pitted base, the replacement cylinder came with an off centered intake with one side partially missing and the rest of that side of the intake wall is as thin as an aluminum can, 2nd replacement is on its way. So far my experience with Hyway is their quality control is lacking some.
I have a question i hope you can answer. I have an old homelite super XL. I need a bar and i can't seem to find one that will work. Could you recommend a bar that will work? I do know it is a 3/8 pitch and .050 gauge
It was my understanding that Meteor and Hyway merged. Meteor was always the go-to aftermarket piston if they made one for your saw. Hyway was thought to be of dubious quality overall. So when they merged, I thought maybe Hyway would drag Meteor down. Maybe it's been the other way around?
Hyway and Meteor cylinders are cast in same plant in Taiwan, but Meteor finishes them in italy. Hyway and Meteor both produce their own pistons. There are people that use Hyway with great success in chainsaws. I personally have not used Meteor or Hyway cylinders, but i have used few Meteor pistons and they seem to be good. I have even used Lil red barn pistons with great success.
Richard you still don't believe in the Amsoil Sabre Professional Synthetic 2 cycle oil @ 100/1 mix ratio. Been using it for 20 yrs now. I know from past dealing with you only know how to do thing the 100% right way. Research Amsoil Sabre Professional 2 cycle oil nothing compares. respectfully, Rafael (Mojave Desert)
Good to hear from you Rafael. Amsoil is good oil. While studying about mix oils from manufacturers they all concluded, start with one oil and stay with it thru the life of saw. There never was a strong Amsoil dealer in our county and saw users would use it and then couldn’t find it when needed. As for the staying with it thru the life of saw, changing oils changes the characteristics of the surfaces of cylinder walls. Marketing ? Maybe. I used and sold Grendberg 100:1 in the 80’s. Saw guys loved it, then started seeing many seizures, Granberg had to pay for many repairs. Cans were not filled correctly, short on oil. Saw guys would never feel comfortable using 100:1 again.
