Just got the Kickstarter notification... tempting!! I'm still satisfied with my K3 V2 though, I love the optical switches sadly this one only supports gateron🤕
Wish they offered custom keycaps. Assigning macros to key layers is "nice" but common functions could be printed on the front face of keycaps. Or, at least keycaps with such printing SHOULD be available.
If ever, this will be my 4rth keychron keyboard. K10, K4V2 and my latest one is Q5. But I'm hoping that they will consider to release soon a K5 pro like which is compact, PbtDS, and more programmable.
hope keychron got this k3 pro with non backlit version so it can stand for a month + hotswap + double shot pbt + all white (k3 v2 style) + wireless (3 conn). should be perfect
@@semikolondev I just hope the PBT keycaps are not too difficult to mold. I get that it's hard to do all these different versions, but I'm too lazy to learn a US layout. I'm also a dev, but I also type a lot of german.
I'm not sure yet whether I would take the K3 Pro or the S1. I actually only use it with a cable and don't know whether the battery will suffer. And whether the writing feel is better with the S1.
Bought the black pbt caps for the k3 v2 with mint switches. I prefer the cap legends to be highlighted, and they made the keyboard feel mushy to me. The stock caps feel better to me, so I switched them back. I like the idea of being able to program this version though.
Womier makes low-profile shine-through PBT keycaps now. Though you won't be able to change some stabilized keys on K3 because of how they positioned them.
The keycaps alone is worth it. I just wish there's a version with protected edge and without any led lights. And call it "K3 Pro Essentials" or "K3 Pure".
Same! I have a K3 v2 and I was thinking of upgrading, but losing the transparent keycaps is the big thing holding me back. I want to swap the home/end/pg keys... (not using sharpkeys/etc cuz I have 2 keyboards attached).
@@strifej1333 I have K3 v1 and bought the additional PBT keycaps from Keychron. I like feeling and how it looks, but I almost stop to use backlight. I prefer to have PBT with shine-through keycaps. Original keycaps made from ABS plastic and space button got a some polished effect.
Is the white backlight version hotswappable?! The website does not mention anything that its not. What confuses me is when one selects the RGB variant you can see hotswap written in brackets !
@@KeychronKeyboard I'm happy to hear this, as I live in the UK. If it's so close to the Kickstarter fulfillment would you not considered adding this to the campaign?
I like this keyboard, I was going to buy it, I have seen many videos to see if the keycaps were translucent, but I see that no, the keycaps are opaque, so I do not understand what sense has the backlighting on a keyboard with opaque keys... it is something strange for a PRO product. I will try for the moment the K3-E3-ESP, although it's a pity that there is no SDK/DLL that allows to program the LEDs..
What a scam company!! Bought K3 Pro directly from them for $119 on 3/21/23 - it won't stay charged longer than 2 days. No warning or anything and shuts off. The RGB lights have stopped working now too. I contact them and they say "Oh, you must ship back to Hong Kong, it will be expensive, plus you lose initial shipping". They didn't want to deal with it. They wanted to send me a battery - sorry, no..this is a brand new keyboard. Now, they say to ship it to this scam place in Portland, OR and they'll refund me. Yeah, just ship it to ChenYaoQiang...Seriously? Do NOT buy from this scam company. There's no warranty or after purchase support. They're scammers!
As a satisfied K3v2 owner, this is tempting. Also, please make a low-profile numpad. I want a seperate numpad on the left hand side but unfortunately all Q0 keyboards are not low-profile.
I pulled off my finger from BUY button when i saw that caps are not shine-through. I often work/play at night, all my previous kboards had backlighted letters. So its a dealbreaker to me. K3 (basic) has them but it is not supported by VIA :(
I’ve owned for few months Keychron - K3 Ultra-Slim V2. The battery life is decent. Gets me roughly through the week of programming. Charges in about 2 hrs.
I can see below in the comments there are plans to make a UK version which is great news, are there any plans to include shine-through keycaps? It would be the only thing stopping me from ordering the UK version when available
We ordered one of these from your website about a week ago and get very strange tracking info by some bizarre 'Shop' app. It shows the keyboard is in England somewhere having arrived from China, then the next step of the tracking process shows it back in China.
@@GudieveNing The keycaps on the K3 pro do not have shine through. Absolutely no idea why, seems ridiculous to me to have all that RGB with no shine through
@@MKitson well if you want the coolest rgb experience no keychron product will be a good choice. Its a keyboard focused on typing experience and most pbt keycaps are not shine through. Its impressive for the budget that they even include pbt keycaps imo. and there is still plenty of light so you can see it in the dark
@@mikeenslin3009 As a person who often work/play at night its a dealbreaker feature for me. I had many keyboards with different kinds of backlight - letters, sides, whole keycaps backlighted and definetly light from the caps sides and monitor will never be as good as light FROM the letters. Its a thing which will bother A LOT anyone who already is used to shine-through letters.
Don’t support this company; they’re not bringing VIA and QMK support to the V2 even though the K3 Pro and K3v2 are the same internally. Scum company. Buy an MX Mechanical Mini
@@Okay-cd6be But the MX Mechanical mini is made mainly for MacOS, I guess. This seems to be the better alternative in terms of having both worlds, including windows.
Honestly, considering I already have the K3, I'd love to get those low profile keycaps cuz I really like this colorway. Any chance to purchase those separately?
@@jonathancasanova3029 That's been honestly my main concern. Keychron has about 8 different low profile keyboard variations on their website and they have only 1 set of keycaps (black/white). We need more customizability if they want people to buy them.
They have black and white doubleshot PBT low profile keycaps for the original K3, however I don't think the K3 colourway is available yet. I would also be wary of buying it aftermarket for your existing K3 if they ever do introduce it. The original K3 has non-standard stab positions for the "big" keys like the space and enter, whereas the K3 pro is standard layout. That said, as an existing K3 owner, Keychron's doubleshot PBT low profiles are very nice (especially for the price) and are definitely a must have upgrade from the original cheap painted ABS keycaps the board came with.
@@KeychronKeyboard interesting. These don't appear to look any different from the low profile double shot PBT keycaps you currently sell, aside from colorway.
Now please bring to life a K7 Pro, that would be a great travel keyboard! If possible please replace the Fn2 key with a CTRL key and use Fn + CTRL combination to get Fn2 :)
