They are the definition of "Queens" Stan them and you will forever be in love with them

Still watching, but commenting to say that generally, dating isn’t something openly discussed, and some companies have a dating ban early on in the career. Mamamoo never had a dating ban imposed, and in fact, the CEO said the experience could contribute to their artistry. But they generally still keep it on the down-low. They’re a pretty uncommon case (compared to other idols that debuted around their time). And yes! Tattoos. I love all their tattoos so much. The only member without tattoos is Solar, just cause she doesn’t want them. Moonbyul’s most known tattoo is of her family on her arm (like...minimalistic, not a portrait lol). Sadly they have to cover the tattoos on public broadcasts, but all the fans love it when they can wear them openly otherwise. 😍

Fun fact for you: “Never Letting Go” is a special phrase between Mamamoo and their fans. There was a special event where the fans busted out signs with the phrase while they were on stage, and they started crying. (Moonbyul, bless her heart, is the crybaby of Mamamoo.) They also wrote a song (wrote the lyrics) titled “Never Letting Go” (in Korean; English title is “I Love too” ...they forgot the [you]) specifically for their fans. On a radio show that she hosts, Moonbyul received some voice messages from fans as a surprise for her birthday. At first she didn’t know whose voice it was, but as soon as they said, “Never Letting Go,” she knew it was their fans. 💕 I’m sure many people will be recommending the Dingo Killing Voice Medley, as it is a very recent medley of some of their top songs. Another option includes the Immortal Songs Medley, though that is from 2017, and it’s a medley of cover songs they performed on the TV show Immortal Songs (lol). Instead of medleys, you could also opt to start listening to their MVs. Chronological or reverse order is something I’ve seen often. Their early sound is jazzy and retro if you want to dive into that. A important tip!!!! ****When you react to MVs, PLEASE watch on the official MAMAMOO channel.**** There should be subtitles on all their MVs on their channel. There will be other channels such as 1theK or other entertainment companies, and they might not have subs, or the translation quality is lower (in my personal opinion). there are some kpop companies that prohibit idols from getting a tattoo, or drinking, smoking and even driving ... but Mamamoo's company is more liberal. Wheein must have 8 tattoos, Hwasa 6 and Moonbyul 4 or 5, their company let them drink, they drink a lot but now they are not drinking so much mainly Wheein who takes medication for anxiety and antidepressants... But their company is very liberal with that, the Twice company does not let the girls get a tattoo but Chaeyoung must have more than 10 tattoos but they hide it, on google there are several pictures of her. Currently it looks like she appeared with a huge new tattoo on her back, but for sure the company will send her some makeup to hide, Mamamoo’s company lets them do whatever they want, even date ... Yeah, Mamamoo is all that and more and it's hard to avoid being emotionally wrecked by them on a regular basis. They're so multi-faceted and multi-talented that they don't seem possible, tho rumors of their extra-terrestrial origin are probably exaggerated. Have fun exploring their discography and live performances. Since you like swing you might want to start with Piano Man, which is the first song I heard by them about 5 years ago when I got into kpop. Moomoos in the Piano Man comments strongly recommended checking out their live performances on Immortal Songs 2 so I watched their mind-blowing version of the old Tom Jones song Delilah and became an instant fan. Any moomoo will tell you that Mamamoo is best when they're live. The best live sampler packages are the Immortal Songs Medley from a 2017 concert and the recent Dingo Killing Voice vid, which is a 15 min medley of songs ranging from their debut track Mr Ambiguous to their latest single Aya. More info about things you mentioned: MMM's bond as a group goes way beyond their teamwork as colleagues and Wheein & Hwasa's childhood friendship. They believe they were destined to be best friends even if they weren't in a group and led completely different lives. There are several songs on this topic including Destiny and 4X4ever. Imo their chemistry is one of the things that elevates their performances to goddess tier. Never Letting Go is the fandom motto. And Hwasa has come a veryyyy long way on how the knets view her. She’s strong and very confidence on herself and still very true to herself that she inspires lots of people. And yes, kpop gg aren’t use to talk about their dating life openly, hell most of them can’t even date in the industry. But thankfully for mamamoo, their agency RBW, aren’t so strict about their dating life as long as they can manage and know its consequences. And RBW basically gives freedom to its artist on songs,arrangement,outfit they are wearing in terms of self expression (what i love about the agency) bcs not often you see an agency as openly on self expression as RBW and that’s what also create Mamamoo into this big girl group. Dating. Yes, they have no dating ban. Hwasa used to have a boyfriend, a normal guy, but didn't work out since Hwasa is a giver in the relationship. Wheein talked about it, they were 2 years before she broke it off. Moonbyul used to have one (she used a non-gender specific words so it could be a girl or a guy), as a result she wrote Love and Hate, but she haven't dated anyone since her debut. Solar, I don't know. ahaha Also diet. They are not required anymore. So, they eat what they want to eat. They go on a strict diet whenever they are working on their comeback. Moonbyul is currently addicted to weights, she gained muscle weight, she looks so much better than her previous years. Same with Solar, her body is just fit. A 1st or 2nd gen idol commented that Mamamoo became the standard of girl idol groups. They somehow managed to break the strict beauty standards. FYI, Moonbyul almost get a double eyelid, good thing she values her mom's advise on not to do it. So it's so nice to see them without any make up on.

Also, react to Killing Voice and Immortal Song Medley! Also their solos and their performances on the show ‘Queendom’ (involves 6 popular girl group going against each other where the winning group gets to have a solo comeback show). Although the kpop industry doesn’t allow idols talking about tattoos, dating and other taboo topics, RBW (Mamamoo’s company) doesn’t care about those things, giving them freedom and allows them to date, have tattoos, etc.

Very few groups have the freedom mamamoo has- both in their creative vision and in their private/public lives. RBW is a great company, even if they lack in other ways (marketing mamamoo, for instance). They are still constrained by the overall kpop/Korean culture, but are at the curve of progressivism in the industry.

Ayyee. Girl, we know. We know! They just pull you in like that. AND to think, you're starting off with their personalities! GEEZ, you're in for a ride once you dive deeper, music-wise and just them in general! Just a few things: -Hwasa saying she'll take her top off for a fan is funny, but much better translated into english as the idiom, "If a fan asks, I'd give them the shirt off my back" -Wheein's "very little time" to LEARN the drums and do a concert solo stage with it was 3 weeks of learning. 3 WEEKS wtf -the dating thing is well... honestly, it depends on the company. I think now especially, a some companies are starting to not have dating bans. Mamamoo is one of those artists who don't have it, and is actually encouraged because how else are you going to write music without experience? (and that also goes for things that aren't about dating). The crazy thing is though, dating in general, is so lowkey and unpublicized, you'll never usually see anything about any artist unless they want you to. -Mamamoo and their company, RBW, have a very good relationship with each other. Pretty much a family at this point. Their CEO is actually really encouraging artistically and just in general. Mamamoo have said before that he's like a father-figure to them (What group says that about their CEO??) -Also, it's funny, cause that red-suit Hwasa is from their 2018 MAMA stage and when she got all those comments about how "inappropriate" it was to wear on stage, their CEO was interviewed and he responded with. "When I watched the performance I thought, Oh. It is a bit short, but I trust the members to do what they think is best." -As for "Never Letting Go." It's a phrase between mmm and moomoos. At the start, just after debut, they performed and in the audience, their fans held up signs that said "Never Letting Go." Yes, the 13 moos in their entire fanbase back then (the OG moomoos) started this. Solar then wrote and composed their first song to fans, for fans with "I Love (You) Too" aka Never Letting Go, sealing the deal for our ride-or-die pact. Invoking "Never Letting Go" is the easiest way to make a moo cry, let's just say... -Just a small FYI, since youre new to kpop :) Small company groups that debut literally get no publicity. I started out with Mamamoo, and got into already established groups back when I got into kpop. There is a clear line for groups from "the big 3" (or now "the big 4," actually) and other companies, but you never see how glaringly clear this line is till you see these companies debut new groups. It's actually kind of insane. When Mamamoo did their debut stage, they had 3 people in the audience that came for them. 2 of them were siblings from one of the members and the other 1 was a friend of another member. Comparatively, a big company group's debut stage would have already established fans take up most the seats in the audience.
