Hey good recent news, Hazbin hotel's season 3&4 were confirmed which is awesome as that means Amazon has enough confidence from the success of season 1 and the production of season 2 to keep it going.
A few things of note that probably got lost in the Wheel-driven madness: - Both Stolas's and Blitzø's fathers, Paimon and Cash Buckzo respectively, share the same voice actor: Jonathan Freeman, who's perhaps best-known as the voice of classic Disney villain Jafar. (I _really_ hope he gets a song the next time he shows up.) - If we take the '25 Years Later' timeskip as being _exactly_ 25 years, that means Stella threw her mean-spirited 'Not Divorced' party _on Stolas's _*_birthday._* (Let's be honest: she _would.)_ - Stella's anecdote about Stolas's performance in bed completely dismisses his obvious trauma responses: his "staring at the wall" is textbook dissociation, which points to how traumatizing it was for him to have to force himself to give the Goetia family the "precautionary heir" Paimon demanded. (Stolas is confirmed to be gay, as are both of his introduced half-brothers at this point, so there genuinely wasn't any attraction in the bedroom until Blitzø showed up.) - 'Stolas Sings', the closing number of the episode, makes use of the same core melody as Stolas's recurring theme in the series, 'Stolas Speaks'. It's also one of the most emotionally powerful songs in the series so far because of how Bryce sang it: normally a recording session will use the best take out of several, or combine the best parts from several takes, but Bryce's final take was used in its entirety -- he frequently syncs up with Stolas's emotions when he acts, and by the time he reached the end of that take, he (and most of the recording team) was in _tears._ They _had_ to use such an emotional performance, ragged voice and all. - The way Stella reacted to Stolas standing up for himself, and how Stolas initially reacted to her advancing on him, suggests that such aggressive displays and threats of violence have been _common_ in their marriage -- and the fact that Stolas actually pushed _back_ this time, catching Stella's backhand in self-defense, seemed like it surprised Stella enough to make it clear to her that Stolas was _serious_ this time. (It pains me to think about, but it's entirely possible that Stolas has endured emotional, psychological _and _*_physical_* abuse from Stella, all for the sake of his daughter -- he really _does_ give Lucifer a run for his money in the Hell's Greatest Dad competition.)
Freaking Jafar!!! That is awesome to know. I love learning who the different voice actors are. I have a massive amount of respect for them. Especially the ones that go above and beyond for their art!
@TheHeckOfficial Yeah, you _know_ you're in trouble when you walk into a father-son meeting and your dad has the voice of Jafar. I'm sure Freeman's a great dude in person, but he's got such a natural villain voice. Funnily enough, he's not the only _Aladdin_ star in this series. He actually reprised his role as Jafar in the original Broadway adaptation, opposite James Monroe Iglehart (Asmodeus's VA) as the Genie and Don Darryl Rivera (the voice of several minor characters, like the butler in this episode, Cletus the Cherub, and Wally Wackford) as Iago.
“Owl In A Cage” is Stolas’ theme. Any time he comes into a scene, you can hear it. This is the first time lyrics have been put to it. They give a melancholy slant to all his appearances. The first time I really noticed his theme music was in the D.O.R.K.S. episode when he came to save Blitzo.
17:15 Something important to note is that they are in an arranged marriage since they were kids so Stella didn't have a choice either and Viv even mentioned this in a recent interview. The prevailing theory is that Stella had a lover that she had to give up or face consequences and that's why she goes at Stolas basically blaming him, and hates him so more recently because she wasn't allowed an extra marital affair like Stolas does with Blitz, not that anything could make her behavior acceptable but it would be interesting to see her perspective.
@@Gaterman wonder if Stella understands that... Either way tho, how hilarious would it be if he and stolas hooked up one night? The look on Stella's face would be damned priceless....
@@vinnie666What do you mean? In their scene together Stella didn't show interest in her brother (he was weird but now in retrospect he was just ego boosting her) and she doesn't even care that Stolas is gay (him being pure gay instead of Bi makes the marriage even sadder as he could never be truly happy even if Stella was nice). She would definitely freak the hell out if the two were together even for just a single night, though it would be understandable.
@@Gaterman he's the only character she's mentioned before, and with context it's clear that he's probably the closest one to her. Possibly even some sort of guardianship situation as he seems to now be in charge of her affairs to a certain degree at least... And i wouldn't say she didn't show interest, I don't think she has any real interest beyond herself. She's a textbook spoiled brat, tbh. I don't think anyone's feelings actually really matter to her.... I mean, hell, her daughter's obviously don't.
Fun facts: Blitzo and stolas meeting as kids could be a reference to Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper 👑👑👑 One of the books Stolas had as a child is a reference to the Frog and Toad book series 👑👑👑 Stolas' Hellhound bodyguards may be a reference to agents Mr. Black and Mr. White from the Johnny Test franchise 👑👑👑
Stolas Goetia is a GOD 22:28-22:33-25:14-25:25-25:34-25:43-25:47-25:51 👑👑👑 I love his voice 24:12-24:15-24:18 🎵🎵🎵 Bryce Pinkham, voice actor Stolas actually cried during the recording of this song 😭😭😭
So like. Not to be rude but when you're sort of muttering to each other over the top of it i REALLY can't make out what you're saying at all and ofc captions don't work bc there's audio from both the episode and you both at the same time. It would be better and more able to be enjoyed if either you paused the episode when you had a comment about it or you hiked your audio right up/ captioned it. Any of those would work i think? But yeah, keep it up :)
