Think of all the lightly wrecked F150’s lying around in holding lots that can be gotten very economically that would be the perfect doner vehicles for this type of project.
I agree but they should have went with trucks from the 90s and earlier. There is a huge Market of people that just want a good work truck and are sick of the high-priced Hi-Tech junk that is out there right now. We just want a good reliable work truck and Factory Five could have filled that void. They overshot this project. They should have kept it simple and made it for earlier model work trucks.
@@steveh7108 I thought the same thing. I would want something like this for a 1999 or earlier truck with an 8 foot bed, then I could put a Cummins 2.8 repower kit in it and have a reliable work truck that gets 30+MPG. You have to be 99' or older to do that though for light trucks. Someone needs to come up with restomods for those of us that don't want to drive spaceships to get sheets of plywood.
I don’t know what the price of a f-150 is. Now being 2023. And he’s saying 2015 to 2022. Body. But in the long is it worth it. I want to know more. A custom frame is about 20k. And he’s saying 25 for all.
@@kc72186 now that we know the US has alien technology I'm sure they'll bring out something soon and we won't need shocks anymore my friend. If that happens I'm accepting all donated prerunners
love this idea I hope you guys can incorporate something like this for cars, obviously a lot more fab work you might have to do yourself because of the unibody but retaining the sort of factory exterior + the interior would be cool
@@rtz549 that's understandable, but I wouldn't want the full carbon fiber body anyway...their fiberglass body is more than adequate for a build...that way theres more money to invest in the power and drivetrain.
@@audiwankenobi361 for rock crawling and trail riding its better. For what the truck is built for like hitting whoops and dunes like a baja truck should longer wheelbase is more stable in turn means itll carry more speed
But they should do it for older trucks. 90s and earlier. There is a huge market for people that just want a good work truck and would gladly build it themselves from a kit like this. We don't want the new trucks with all the electronics and headaches that go along with it.
@@jacobstrutner8232 they are far from rare. Throw a rock hit 3 i got 3 in my driveway bought collectively for 3 grand perfect condition maybe 30k but not rare and not 30k just on the usual.
I would buy one if I didn't have to go hunt down a used F-150. It's just a pain in the neck.... it takes a lot of time to look online, and then it takes even MORE time to physically go and inspect each truck. Most sellers are trying to disguise the fact that they crashed / abused / rolled their truck lol, so sifting through those is a headache I just don't want to deal with. I am also not going to put a ton of time and money into a vehicle that someone else jerked around with. I would REALY LOVE a serious off-road kit car that doesn't require getting a used vehicle, that way I can use my time for building and not for hunting a car I don't want. I also really like the idea of building a brand new vehicle, and I am repelled by the idea of wasting time and money on used and damaged car.

Remember the Chevy short wide Sport Trucks from the '90's? Do up a truck for city driving and do a lifted one on 56" tires. That desert truck stuff is cool west of the Rockies.
Depends on the motor. The twin turbo six can be tuned to 450 hp, and the trucks with 5 liter engines can be tuned with a turbo to 600+ hp easily, on par with the raptor r.
@@factoryfive To clarify, yall do not provide a 700hp engine? I poked around the site and couldn't figure it out. Do you provide an engine at all? whats the highest hp engine if so
Absolutely. Factory Five missed the mark because people are sick of the overpriced newer trucks that are so fragile because of all the electronics that they are unreliable. They should have done just like they did with their original Factory Five Roadster. Made a kit that worked off of a very popular cheap and readily available Parts truck. The market is huge for all of the pickup truck drivers that are sick of all the electronics and gadgetry that make them unreliable junk.
They missed the mark. There is a much bigger market and need for a restomod type of pickup truck. They should have done it just like they did their original Factory Five Roadster. A kit that would have used parts from the 80s or earlier F-150s ( most abundant parts availability in the world) so what consumer can actually build a reliable dependable durable work truck without all the electronics that have destroyed our trucks. This could have been an absolutely huge Market to fill. The American Workforce is tired of all these junk high-priced trucks that constantly break down and don't do the job they were purchased for. Please ! Factory Five, please rethink what you're doing and what the market wants and needs!
The F150 is perennially the best selling truck in America. It's clear that FF very much did their marketing research. People who can afford a newer truck can probably afford this kit. People with older trucks...
@@jacobstrutner8232 you see it all the time professionally built with SCSB im sure they have cons but they are still very capable and handle good from what i have seen to say its a “terrible” idea is kind of a broad statement
i especially like the part where the bed of a pickup becomes completely non-functional for carrying things pickups carry. this won't last any longer than the daytona roadster.... shoulda made a rac-type rally version of the 818 instead.
Not so fast- Trucks sales are through the roof and prices up to $128,000 if there is a market this could be their best seller Larger heavier but probably a simpler build overall
If you are putting anything else other than spares and trail gear in the bed, you are doing it wrong. This isn't a utility truck, it's a fun truck. Though with enough demand, Factory Five may eventually offer a cantilever option down the road.
