So thankful I relied on the strength of the cone from this amazing sub, I accidentally it with a heel, no damage, sometimes these items need to be adult proof as well! my brain exchanged my heart... strength and integrity... REL
Got this sub to replace my SVS SB-2000 Pro in my home-office 9.2 (music/movies) system using Elac UniFi 2.0 front bookshelves, and ELAC debuts all-around. The SVS was always impactful on movies in this small 12x12 room, but always felt a bit "disconnected" from my mains when listening to music. Yes, it was punchy, authoritative, app was great... but it always liked to pull attention to itself, which is not necessarily a good thing. I recently replaced it with this REL HT-1003 mk2 and after breaking it for over a week, I'm honestly very impressed with its musicality. I know this is supposed to be an "HT" sub but the bass sounds tighter, yet still punchy and with enough grunt. I love how it integrates MUCH better with my UniFi mains for music (mostly rock, jazz, chillout, R&B). Bass now seems to come from the mains instead, which for me is a total first and something the SVS, despite all its virtues, never truly delivered. Is this little REL as strong as the SB-2000 Pro was in movies? It actually is closer than I thought. It also shakes the room (and doors and closets) and from 40 Hz down to about 19Hz it sounds more like a powerful sealed 12" than its size would suggest. BTW I'm using it nearfield, under the desk, i.e. not corner-loading it. Only downside I can see is: No more app, but tbf as the days go by I have less need to fiddle with it and just enjoy it, and if needed, adjust the AVR's sub level. It's so good I'm afraid of adding a 2nd one and screwing it up (cancellations, etc). Overall, I highly recommend this little beast. If this one's so good, I wonder what the new HT 1205 would sound like here... xD
@@fixanddrive I believe you. For music only I'd also probably go with a T series. Different products and applications. IMHO, it's hard to beat the value & versatility of a couple of HT1003 MKII's (I got a second one, ha)
i had the 1003 mk2, returned it because i could get the 1205 mk2 open box for 100 euros more. the 1205 mk2 is crazy overkill for me, but it rumbles a bit more in movies then the 1003 obv but thats about it.

This makes me excited just placed my order at best buy. I was looking at the REL T5 and svs sb 1000 pro. I was back and forth around the $500 price point and this sealed the deal. Perfect presentation is what I needed to hear explained in a exciting and informative matter. Have Klipsch bookshelf R-50-M II possibly getting the RP-500M II. This is for a small 11 x 11 room that has a high end pc setup on a 72" adjustable desk with 32" monitor for gaming and multimedia and next to it a 49" tv on a low 52" entertainment console. Right now they sit on pc desk with long cables and I just move the speakers to each side of tv when I watch movies. Once I get this sub I will check placement and maybe even have two sets of speakers to switch between. I am using a SMSL A0300 DAC/AMP combo with sub out and it works well with bookshelf speakers and has a sub out with headphone amp. Not end game but something to get me back into HIFI that is midrange in my eyes. Hopefully a good update will follow.

How do you connect this sub to a standard speaker connection? Does the cable have RCA on one end and bare wires on the other? Can I connect it to a Conrad Johnson CAV50 integrated tube amp?
Thank you for reaching out. The HT/1003 MKII does not feature the High Level input or other speaker level inputs. Instead it uses line level RCA inputs, which can be connected to the stereo RCA pre-outs on your Conrad Johnson CAV50.

Thank you for reaching out. A stereo pair of HT/1003 Mk.II can perform very well in a 2-channel system, though typically we would recommend running just the pair of HT/1003s, rather than running these two HT subs along with a third sub of a different model.

The HT/1003 Mk.II can be used alongside an original HT/1003 V.1, though there were several improvements made during the development process for the Mk.II version which results in a noticeable improvement in performance compared to the original V.1 model. As a result, while these two models can perform well together you will likely notice a difference between the two.
Thank you for reaching out. You are correct that the Serie HT subwoofers, including the HT/1003 Mk.II, do not feature the High Level input. As a result, the subwoofer should instead be connected either to the designated subwoofer output jack on an AV receiver, or to stereo RCA preamp outputs if the sub is being used in a 2-channel system.
Where would I crossover my klipsch with this sub I have the 6000f for hometheater and heresy iv for music I would get duel 1003 for even bass to fill in the holes but what should I cross them over at?
Thank you for reaching out, and for choosing a REL subwoofer for your home audio system. Ideally the Crossover on your REL should be set to just below where your main loudspeakers naturally roll-off in their low-frequency extension in your room, with as minimal overlap as possible. To achieve this, it will be necessary to tune the Crossover by-ear rather than aiming for a specific numeric frequency value, since the low-frequency roll-off of your Heresy IVs will likely be different than what the spec sheet suggests, based on variables specific to your system. To tune the Crossover by-ear, we recommend starting with this dial set to the lowest/minimum position and the Level control set to a moderate value. you can then play a familiar reference track with deep and consistent low-frequency impulses, and with the track playing slowly raise the Crossover until you just begin to hear boominess and a lack of definition/detail in the low-mid to upper-bass frequency range, and then lower it back down slightly from there.

In our experience a 2-way phase switch is plenty sufficient for achieving a correct and proper phase match between the subwoofer and the main loudspeakers, and that a continuous rotary phase dial sometimes offers more control and adjustability than is necessary which can make it difficult for most uses to achieve a correct phase setting.
Thank you for reaching out. On the HT/1003 Mk.II, the crossover control is always functioning regardless of which input jack you connect to. If you wish to bypass the subwoofer's crossover filter then we recommend raising the dial on the sub's back panel to the maximum position, though improved performance can be achieved by adjusting and tuning this control in order to achieve a more seamless blend with your main loudspeakers.

The T/5i, as with all of our subwoofer models that features the High Level input, has two separate input channels, the High/Low Level input and the .1/LFE input. On these subwoofer models each of these input channels features their own independent Level control so that they can be tuned separately, with the .1/LFE input channel also bypassing the subwoofer's input filter circuit so that you can set a crossover for this channel within your AV processor that is separate from the High/Low Level input's crossover setting. By comparison, the Serie HT (original V.1 and Mk.II) subwoofer models feature a single input channel with the option for stereo input connections, and correspondingly feature a single Level control. This means that any signal which is received by the subwoofer will be impacted and filtered based on the Crossover dial's setting.
