It appears this video has been getting some traction recently! 😁 Thank you all for your support and suggestions. Even though the Kickstarter was not successfully funded, I'm happy to say we're still hard at work bringing this product to life, and are currently developing a new and improved design that will not only be cheaper, but also have an adjustable base! If you'd like to stay up to date on the project, join our Discord server here: discord.gg/Yaeys6fdCj and/or join our email waitlist over on encasepc.com -Luke
We'll be focused on the US market at launch, but plan to expand to other regions if things go well. That's not to say we couldn't ship to Europe at launch (or anywhere else in the world) but we won't have any fulfillment centers outside of the US, so shipping would be insane - like $400-$700 USD. @@CptnBalu
This is an amazing concept! My only gripe is that there is no sit/stand functionality. It would be cool if a future version of this desk had an optional sit/stand add-on or something!
its because no one really knew about it. It needs to get in the right hands. AKA streamers like Asmongold to be able to push it. Other wise it will rot in the fundraiser page.
@@4dchessplayer516 nah it’s the price. More expensive than any sit-stand desk which are all the hype nowadays. And a LOT of people actual like showing their pc case on their desk. Especially gamers.
@@cakeisalie yep, it's a nice product. But they forgot to ask themselves if there's a market for it. Just watching the PC case market going heavily into "fishtank" design with glass panels everywhere. People (at least the kind of people sinking that much money on their build) don't want to hide their PC.
If this was a pre-launch campaign 2-3 months ahead, this video getting recommended right now would have definitely gotten the Kickstarter project fully funded. Your next one will raise $1,000,000+ I can see that. Wishing you well team!
I just wanted to say that this design is incredibly elegant and well executed. I hope this gets another shot and I wish you and your team so much success! This is an accomplishment that anyone would take pride in.
seems like a very well thought out product. you guys took your time getting feedback and getting all the human factors dialed in...the attention to detail is impressive and so is the seeming build quality based on the video. Congrats on the project
If I could just buy the top desk part then I’m all in! I can pair this with a standing desk kit I already have and components. I don’t care for the wireless charging either. Love a minimal layout
Hey guys, I emailed the Luke at encase email but haven't gotten a response. I don't think you should give up on this product. Email back if you want to discuss some ideas... I think I can help bring this to life! Thanks
There should be option to have height adjustments as well! I think there is market for desks like this one. It's great executed and considering buying case+desk pricing is understandable.
The quality and price point on this are extremely exciting! My main worry is rigidity and strength against side forces on the legs without a rail running along the underside of the table at the back, like the Husky worktables have.
I'll have to say: I am really interested in this but standing desk is a must for me personally As well as: EU power plugs of course and at least 180cm width for the desk (but I don't know if you have both of these points already)
Very cool, gonna look more into this kind of thing for the future. Its very clean and simplistic. Hopefully this kind of product takes off and becomes cheaper down the line. It just makes complete sense.
I know the project wasn't funded, but I love seeing the front IO in a desk, the wireless charging, and the cable management. Even having the whole thing as a barebones kit with the PC tray as an option would be super cool. I am just now hearing about this months later, so I'm wondering if it didn't get funded for lack of visibility.
This desk looks awesome! The only issue i have is for those of us that have multiple monitors or 1 very large monitor and the inability to mount them. Many monitor feet look so tacky and take up a lot of real estate especially when using more than one. Looks like the tray for cables and things in the back would hinder clamps style mounts and the desk itself doesnt seem like one you would want to drill through for mounts that use that method. But overall, very neat!
@@dale7561 I think cable management should stay in the back, but if the tray opened in multiple pieces, it would make clamping onto the back easier! This would be less aesthetically pleasing though... or as OP said, a hole in the desk, or even propietary mounting system would solve this.
Or strategically placed pass through holes for through-desk type mounts. Covers for the holes that don't look awful (hopefully hides them) for those that decide not to use them or a different top with the holes you'd choose when you order. This without legs so I can add motorized ones may temp me to buy, though I currently have a huge monitor mounted to the wall behind my desk.
This looks so cool, It's like a brand new form factor! One thing I'd love to see is spring-loaded mechanism that can roll up cords when you're not using them and unspool and lock in place when you are. That would be a bonus for drawing tablet users.
The desk looks beautiful. If this is successful, please consider expanding your portfolio to the full suite of standard desk options including L-Shaped and Motorized options!
Dude I just kept on getting more and more shocked with the cable management then I saw the rotating head on the one cable in the wall and I just couldn’t believe how much you guys thought of lmfao
I use Macs exclusively now, but if I were still into PCs and PC gaming and such, I would totally go for this. Seems really well thought out and executed
No criticism at all, I'm interested to know why you're exclusively Mac. I personally can't see any benefits, but I understand this is subjective and depends on your needs. Again. I'm genuinely interested, not trying to cause any factional controversy.
@@MattDTB1 I cant speak for OP, but i personally use both. I'd say i use my Macbook Pro (M1 Pro) 90% of the time, and my gaming PC 10% of the time. Even for video and photo editing, apple media and graphics engines that are specifically designed for this kind of stuff are unrivalled.. its why most of the industry are on Mac. People look at music and video producers as posers because they use Mac's, but theres so many more benefits to it.. I also much prefer the mac for everyday use because MacOS is so fluid and simple and easy to use, and is also blisteringly fast on load times.. But when it comes to gaming, nothing beats a gaming PC.
I should also mention that Apple design their own hardware and software, completely. Everything is made to work together, and its why it works so perfectly. You see a lot of issues with PC's because its all kinds of different brands and chipsets and hardware working together, and sometimes it does work, sometimes it doesn't.
@@MattDTB1 If I wasn't a gamer I would be exclusively Mac & Linux. I am a software engineer and Macs are closer to linux than a PC is (they are UNIX based). Apple products always have solid build quality physically, good resale value, support, longevity, etc. The OS is cleaner in my opinion, and better for productivity.
I hope that when I can afford this (in around 3 years or so) y'all will have a standing desk option. I just got one, and the ability to adjust the height of my desk is something I'll always need moving forward. I also recommend incorporating some glass or seethrough material into some of your designs, since a lot of people who own pro computers want to show them off.
The fact that the video that inspired you was from DIY perks in the first place just goes to show what amazing things one can do with some tools and a little bit of work
Hopefully when this got more successful . There should be another versions with the adjustable height. I knew its not easy building the first consumer desk pc so congrats on making it possible for us consumers
As someone who struggles with cable management this would be a godsend for me. Sucks I just lost my job, but maybe eventually I'll be able to pick one up once it's available
I have to say the design for the concealing cables is very well thought, as now my desk (under part) is like a jungle even though there’s only a few cables. Also the price feels very balance
Glad to hear you're still working on the project! Here are a few things that would make this a slam dunk in my eyes: - Size options (48", 60", 72"?) - Some kind of solution for monitor arms/VESA mounts - Ditch unnecessary bells and whistles that will eventually become obsolete (e.g. wireless charger; this desk will dramatically outlive the current Qi standard) - Sub-$1000 USD Personally, I'm just looking for a rock solid, versatile, reasonably priced desk PC. I believe in the vision!
Hi, thanks for the feedback. 1. We can do both 60" and 72" but most likely only 60" will be available at launch. 2. The new design (see pinned comment) will support monitor arms. 3. In the new design, the charger is easily swappable, so there shouldn't be any issues with upgrades in the future. 4. Sub $1000 would be tough, but not impossible.
@@encasepci built a prototype out of wood with ikea legs. Doing the math on parts and labor the costs were $240 and shipping was another $200 if I was going to sell it.
Can't believe I'm only seeing this now. Would have backed, perfect desk width and length airflow doesnt seem like an issue. Wondering if they are still running with this and if a UK version was ever in the works.
Wait.... This is one of the most brilliant design ever. Not only does it saves space, it's also one of the most secure design for compagnies and professionals alike... because if you want to steal a computer, what are you gonna do with a whole ass table...?! It's never going to sell on the use market anyway! It also means the PC must be quiet. Makes me want to do this!
I love desk PCs! This one is the best i've seen yet. But it don't solve one problem that i always see. I agree, the desk pc must have the air intake and outtake underneath the desk itself. But with that you are forced to position the AIO CPU Watercooler facing downwards, and that create bubbles. I was trying to thing of a solution to that, someway that gravity wouldn't get in the way of the position of the tubes, but i can't think of any way. Unless we made that desk thicker, which is worse. Or custom watercooling, which is too complicated for most people who just want a practicle desk pc. If anyone have any ideas, i would love to read it.
Perfect! Decades ago, when Home PCs were really very new, I had a dream. I would invent a PC where all the modules were plugged into an office desk. To upgrade your storage, just lift the lid unplug one and plug in another. Then I woke up. But here it is.... my dreamed of invention!!! Will it take off?
Interested to see where this goes. Unfortunately I'm not a potential customer yet, but I might be in a few years if there's a standing desk option as well and I'm in need for a new pc/desk
I can’t believe Linus Tech Tips helped to popularize the doomed Dune Case and yet didn’t even report on this..despite the fact the prototyping company is only a couple hours away from their studio
Great idea, thank you just a few short questions heat love to rise up not, so much down. Wood and high heat don't mix well, I can't see what you do with the heat in my opinion a heat shield is not enough yes it helps, but not enough heat goes up and move where it wants to like dry wood. Gravity is not your friend here with PC parts that can fall, things do get loose over time. What PC do you put in the desk, a gaming PC how big... water cooled? Thanks!
