i have 3 geissele triggers. they are what makes the rifle n i really dont ever want to own anything else. the sw 1522 (if you dont shoot the recommended ammo) is a very finicky rifle. people say im crazy to put a 250$ trigger in a 400$ gun but mine runs n theirs doesnt. with a geissele trigger n a volquartsen extractor my 1522 will literally eat anything without failure. the last trigger i bought by them was the sd3g for my 11.5 build... best trigger i ever shot hands down. i cant understand people who will buy 30 guns but wont spend money on components. id rather have just have a few that run really really well than 30 that may or may not run... n thats why im going to order one of these kits in about 10mins, i must "dampen my harmonics" lol :-)

I really appreciate this method of advertising. Nothing flashy, just straight talk that isn't afraid to get a bit technical. It's how you guys sold me on the ALG QMS trigger (which is great; very smooth), and depending on the cost, I may pick up one of these Super 42 buffer kits. :) I don't make much money, so hopefully this kit isn't too strenuous on my wallet. If it is, well, maybe later in life when I have a better paying job.

Excellent concept and I believe that your hypothesis is likely spot-on. Although the ar15 buffer spring application does not closely match our application at work, we have known that higher amplitudes and frequencies that bombard our product, do decay our spring type alloys because we see the pitting that occurs on the surface of our alloy target samples when we compare them under a SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). For us, nothing else can be causing that pitting other than harmonic energy so high frequencies are treated by us as the source. What a smart solution you have come up with and made very thorough explanations regard all of it. I love my Geissele triggers. They are the best trigger I have ever owned, and I will be buying one of these wire braid systems for my AR15. A very enjoyable video to watch, Bill. Thank you!

I appreciate it when the owner puts his face and reputation into a problem and solves it. And then you get to see actual testing. I am also glad that he mentioned there is a cost savings in most commercially built ARs. I have been having an overgassing problem for ammo outside of one brand. So, normally, I stick with that brand but my plan for my AR-10 is to replace the spring that came in the Luth AR kit and the buffer with a heavy duty spring and H3 buffer. Slows down the travel of the bolt carrier group and it is the easiest way to tune an AR-10 if you do not have an adjustable gas key or gas block. And you would have to live under a rock to not have heard someone who has rebuilt a gun or rifle with a Geissele trigger kit, which is how I had heard of them, first.

Third video in a row tonight on buffer technology and functionality of cycling carbines. I have been building for a while now and experiencing various feeding and ejection issues from combined suppressed, nonsuppressed,62 to 77grain, adjustable gas blocks, buffer weights and barrel lengths. I am convinced I need to get the Super 42 next in hopes that I can reach the sweet spot I need for my current build creating a match grade precision AR capable of one hole groups at 100yrds shot for shot. I am currently averaging sub 1/2 to 3/4" with factory ammo. Excellent video, thank you.
@Veedubbin18
@Veedubbin18 2 года назад
This is an awesome upgrade. I run one in my carbine length AR and everything he says is true about it! The only thing is you have to mess with buffer weights for certain applications. In my 10.5 inch pistol it would not lock the bolt back on the last round but ran fine other than that. So just a heads up! Also it is pretty insane how smooth the bolt goes back.
@mitchelldelaney5872
@mitchelldelaney5872 2 года назад
Odd that it caused issue on the pistol, Likely to do with dwell time on the 10.5" w/carb gas. I didn't account for dwell when I first started to put together builds, So I thought "hey, shortest barrel I can get w/mid gas system is the way!" But 11.5" w/mid gas just doesn't have enough dwell time. After the bullet leaves the barrel you lose alot of pressure that you need for gas system to work 100% in my opinion at least. Some may not agree, But it's common sense that the gas will go into gas system far better if bullet is keeping it from going out the end for extended amount of time, More pressure to push gas into that tiny gas port. Might try the super 42 spring with a standard Carb buffer on the 10.5, or H1 w/a flatwire 17-7 spring like strike industries offers. Bet one of those would fix that last round issue. I love the braided wire myself, SIG has been doing the braided spring for a long time in their pistols to great effect. First time I saw one was in my first P229 SIG. I later learned it was used in German MG "Hitler's buzzsaw", Which says alot bc German engineering is generally top notch even under that psychopath.

@@markbritton844 I was kinda wondering the same thing... I've put a multitude of H3, H2 and H1 Super 42s in SBRs, PDWs, and full length 16" barrels with varying gas systems, suppressed and unsuppressed and had no issues once I figured out the recoil impulse and gassing in my ARs.

I think Geissele's theory on the spring waves is correct. That resonance is a major accelerator of fatigue, and fatigue is what causes the spring to lose the preload and free length. I'm however not sold on the braided spring as the ideal configuration. If you look at other compression springs that have to deal with 1) fatigue and 2) high force, you don't see braided springs used. In fact, if you look at high-RPM racing valve springs (like might be used in NASCAR or in Drag Racing), you'll find a single-wire is used. But it's not an ordinary round wire. It's usually an asymmetrical wire (with the larger radius in the ID and a smaller one on the OD)-- not flat, nor round, nor even elliptical. On top of that, the spring is not the same diameter throughout-- one end will taper to a slightly smaller diameter. This breaks up those resonant waves (more accurate, it spreads the spring's natural resonance across several frequencies rather than letter them concentrate at a couple peaks). All if which makes the spring last longer. I think the Tubb flat spring is a better, cheaper approach overall. Surely the Geissele is quieter, but the Tubb will last just as long at much lower cost.

My go to are Springco buffer springs. They have regular, intermediate, enhanced, and extra power buffer springs made from chrome silicon. The difference between them all is the length of the spring. The longer the spring, the more resistance it has. They are also quiet and do not have the audible twang we all know. I coupled their extra power spring and h2 buffer on my 16" carbine length rifle and it lessened the recoil of the rifle and allowed me to shoot steel cased ammo.
@vincentkeller3450
@vincentkeller3450 5 лет назад
I agree that this is a superior spring with a 16" 5.56 barrel. No more PHONG. You'd have to be pretty sensitive to notice recoil differences, but you'll definitely notice an audible difference. I cant speak to much about a comparison to flat springs, but 1500 rounds of various loads have worked well for me. I have found that my best group sizes, for the range I'm shooting, is the minimum and maximum load. My setup is unsuppressed, and since I shoot shorter distances, an H1 buffer, 55gr FMJBT, and 24.4gr bl-c2. Despite shooting lighter hand loads, I have never had a problem cycling any match ammunition. Well worth the bucks if your'e sensitive to spring sound or have noticed spring degradation.

I'm seeing quite a few comments complaining about the cost of this, and the propriety buffer. While I'm not an expert in buffer kits or all the different brands of them offered, I think many are missing one huge plus to this kit..... being able to swap out buffer weights yourself. To me, that is HUGE. Trying to fine tune a rifle with different ammunitions, or shooting suppressed vs unsupressed, being able to change the weight of the buffer, without actually purchasing different buffers all together, seems like a pretty big pro to me.
@armedfarm3429
@armedfarm3429 Год назад
You can easily change buffer weights in the standard AR buffer the same way. Just push out the pin take the poly pad out & change the weights yourself. Heavier weights or steel weights or mix a heavy with 2 steel weights etc. They are separated the same way with a little rubber pad. Same as this buffer. People that just start flopping parts around for no reason then wonder why it won't run right have no business with an AR. Most AR's run fine without all this "after-market" "after thought" parts. If it works don't fix it!

I'll try this Spring Kit on my 16" Bushmaster. I've never been disappointed with any Geissele Products.

I think it is awesome your company is trying to improve every aspect of the AR. I just bought one last night so waiting to test it out in my new sbr.

Braided wire springs have worked on aks for the hammers since forever so this makes alot of sense

Bought my first geissele a couple years ago. Now almost every AR I have has a geissele upper and buffer system. Gassing is 👌🏼

This is outstanding. I recently built a rifle and spent too much money on buffers tuning the gun. I will go with your product next time.

My top 3 companies that are top notch and think outside the box in with improvements instead of gimmicks: Geissele, KNS, Troy Industries.

I bought one of these for my over gassed DPMS that wouldn’t lock back on empty. This cured the problem…

@ Mr. Geissele. I love your products! Amazing explanation, but we didn't get the sound test. I put a JP on my 8.5 blackout. Love it! My brother and I did similar builds (Wylde -mid length gas) and for some reason his rifle is twangy? I'm ordering now for my 11.5 "223. As a test before I send him one as a present. Love you both! We need a Geissele, JP and Tromix collaboration! 100%

Note that Bill points out that this kit works well with AR pistols and carbine length gas systems. I tried it with my new mid-length 16" AR build and had major short-stroking. Switched to a standard spring and buffer and was able to cycle the rifle reliably. I'll try the Super 42 again after some break in, otherwise it will go into a future pistol build.

It's for carbine length gas systems

Which weight buffer were you using if you don't mind me asking?
@the_hwyman
@the_hwyman Год назад
@@JoeyMo973 it was the H1. Since posting, I've learned that the BA Hanson barrel I have is under-gassed. Even with a carbine buffer, it ejects around 4:00. Obviously an H1 and stiffer spring was way too much for it.

Just an FYI on 2 things; as an armorer for 1 of our inactivated Army divisions we had a rounded solid lead bar to cut for in-field repairs and 3 lead slugs is same weight as 2 steel and 1 tungsten or H buffer if cost is an issue. 2nd instead of telling everyone to throw away there Mil-Spec buffers you could have trimmed your braided spring down to 9 inches and put an adapter tube on it.

I immediately ordered one, but due to my eagerness, I didn't watch the video completely before doing so. Now, I'll have to order an additional tungsten weight. I'll never completely finish my SBR to the point where I'm 100% "happy" with it.

I put the 42 braided rifle spring with my Kynshot Rifle hydraulic buffer in my MK 12 mod 0 super sweet smooth flat operation recovery after shot quick recovery for second shot like shooting a 22LR A great combo Kynshot Buffer and Super 42 Braided Buffer Spring ! Added a Super 42 Spring and buffer H1 to my M4 carbine also ……..very happy !

You can tell the super 42 has less felt recoil just from the test! Look how much that box he covered it with was jumping vs the super 42👍👍👍 I now own one lol

Understand stress, harmonic waves not in sync in other springs, but difficulty in calculating temperature rise in twisted metal spring in extended rapid fire environments. I have been getting reduced performance before burn-out with this spring and buffer tube however spring length remains same after cool down and measuring. You have a beautiful product.

He was going to finish saying the spring tolerance but realized it was .030. Lol. Im sure this product is as incredible as everything else Geissele offers. I'm now hooked on your products and went a little crazy this weekend on the blem sale. Haha. I now have geissele rails for all my rifles and some other stuff coming as well. Thanks Bill

I bought one! I love it I mean it works as advertised. I see a lot of people hung up on the 50,000 round issue seems to have taken a back seat to the whole super quiet one but let me tell you that's the first thing I noticed since i've been shooting with mine. Smoother also I mean so far it's just a superior combo and highly recommended in my humble opinion USMC Retired Gunny

TACTICAL BURGER GRIP They would have to make a rifle length braided spring and a cut down A5 buffer. Current Super 42 wont work.
@shananagans5

That would be the ultimate setup. I love that A5 system & I would go with that over ANY standard carbine buffer set up but I would buy a braided rifle spring in a heartbeat.
