The Windows App SDK is a new library of developer tools and components that provide a unified experience in developing Windows apps. It builds on existing frameworks like WPF and WinForms instead of trying to be the next framework.
In this session I will take you through the Windows App SDK, from installation to usage in a new project and how to shoehorn it into an existing project. The session is aimed at people developing Desktop applications for Windows who want to modernize their applications, or start a new application from scratch.

I build Windows-Only APPs, very proud of that. I have little or no interest in Web-Based APPs. Good presentation.

Why though? Web apps are far more available, easier to create, and easier to maintain. Windows apps take about as long to start as opening a website and almost always look worse.

WPF, UWP, Windows App SDK, so on and on forever.. Are there any new fancy names in coming years? If you guys keep changing the app development platform as you wish every other year nobody will develop apps on you platform. Lean something from Android app framework.

A guy who does not even know about MFC is blabbering about Desktop development!! Dare to talk about Win32. And then they say why Desktop App are dying!

nice presentaion. i now understand why windows desktop apps are soo bad. so many ways to build a just windows desktop app. confussion cloud. thats why people build desktop app with web technologies.

Shout out to the sad MFC developers. Doesn't even get a mention between VB and WinForms. Nor the original WinCreateWindow APIs (Windows 1.0).

Good intro, thanks! It really facilitates the way we see these things to start upgrading our knowledge base. at least to people who tries to do stuff "by themselves".
