Ah stress, one of the biggest causes of illness and disease in our modern world, but often overlooked. Why? Because people don't understand their stress response. See, we think our bodies are clever, but they're not that clever. Our stress response hasn't changed in thousands of years, despite the stresses of modern life being completely different to outrunning a sabertooth tiger.
Did you know? The stress response in our bodies responds to any threat in the same way - it releases adrenalin and cortisol. Super useful for short term fight and flight (like avoiding imminent danger), but not so useful when you're stressing about a deadline at work, sat in traffic or reacting to the news channel that's blurting out fear-provoking content 24/7.
Excessive and long-term adrenalin and cortisol in our bloodstream accounts for inflammation, heart problems, chronic stress disorders, fatigue, poor sleep... it's just really not good for our health in the slightest.
But, there are some really easy ways to override this adrenalin and cortisol when you don't actually need that shot to help you avoid danger...
In this video I share my three favourite techniques for keeping my body and mind relaxed, so my digestive system, circulatory system, and nervous system can all well, live in harmony and aid my day to day life, rather than impede on it.
