I go over my three like and three dislikes I have with GE's latest direct drive top load washer #geappliances #ge #toploadwasher #review #gtw720 #allnew
I just bought this exact machine 2021 model. Thanks for the video bc it’s a lot to learn coming from someone who always had the basic wash machine. Lol I had a hard time trying to figure out why it wasn’t filling up with a lot of water like I’m used to. Then I leaned what Automatic Load Sensing is. The salesman didn’t tell me nothings out it. I thought it was broke. I really like it now that I understand how it works. Thanks for the video!
Julie Shane I just got mine too, I’m glad he posted this. I love it so far, mine has the 75oz liquid detergent compartment. You can fill an entire 75 oz bottle and it will auto disburse for you. Now if I can figure out how the Wifi works with the washer and dryer, I will be just fine lol...🤣
I had this washer but the 2018 model and it was awesome. It was noisy but it washed well and just like u I loved the Jean cycle. The washer had really good turnover ! Great review !
Thanks for explaining a bit about this washer. We had to buy a new washer and I don't know if it the newer model but it was the largerest they had which is what we needed because we do have some heavy blankets. We just received it and I will have to re read manuel a few more times and test things out to get a better senses of what is going on. But I just washed a crocheted blanket and was very surprised how light it was to remove. It removed so much of the water. Very surprising but awesome. Thanks again for giving me an idea on what the washer is doing when starting..etc. 😊👍👍
Just got mines delivered on friday and so far its great! Its my first brand spanking new appliance(always got ones that would be fixed up and resold lol). I immediately noticed a different in how my clothes smelled and felt🎉. Love the fact that the agitator AND drum both spin while washing!😮 Yes love the deep fill!
Thank you for the review I appreciate your review because is is very informative especially the rinse part thank you for also demonstrating while giving your review. I have saved this video. Please continue to review appliances.
The reason why the water level cannot be adjusted on the "NORMAL" cycle is so that the washer will satisfy Government rules surrounding water usage in washers. This applies to both U.S and Canadian government rules.
I just ordered a gtw840 with smart dispense, im excited. I'm sure it will be better than my tr5 speed queen. (Spouse said he wants another washer) he said the speed queen doesnt seem like it cleans as good.
@@jeromedavis8575 smart dispense just for detergent, fabric softener you have to add to the little drawer in the back. It is being delivered this saturday, ge got rid of the belt drive mechanism and it is direct drive with a stator motor. It still has a transmission though.
So mine came without a manual. I've noticed that about 25% of the time my washer doesn't fully spin my clothes out. It's on high/max spin and I will put it on bulky or towels hoping that will work. My guys work in a warehouse and always have heavy jackets to clean atleast once a week and there have been times we've had to ring them by hand because even redoing it on the drain and spin cycle doesn't get them done. Like pick them up and pouring wet, dripping everywhere. Other than that, I'm in love with it. Haven't really tried my heavy blankets for the same reason.
I have experienced this "won't spin" issue also! I have also seen dozens of other users complaining about this on other forums. The reason for this problem is that you have put clothes into the the machine such that it is overloaded and/or the load is badly out-of-balance. I spent an entire day working with all the settings and washing about 7 loads of clothes...... the solution is to PUT FEWER CLOTHES INTO THE WASHER!
Mine is the 2016 model, which is almost the same as this. The only way to get clothes clean is to always use the Warm Rinse, Deep Rinse, and Extra Rinse options. The Deep Rinse option puts a decent amount of water into the tub.
Great video! You should consider doing ASMR you have the voice. I think the spin speed would counter act the balancing feature if you were to adjust it manually you couldn’t account for that, which is why I’m guessing the bulky cycle for example has a default spin speed, as do all the cycles.
The Color cycle is to REDUCE water !!! Adding more water creates more fading. !!! Also it is the default HE low water energy efficient wash. Under the Normal name. Slow agitation and low water and 🌡️cool to tap cold water reduce color fading. Added with Wal Mart MAS for dark clothes and or Woolite Dark or Cheer Color Guard. All of those detergents helps fading by neutralizing the chlorine in the water. And added protection on dark textiles. If added 1/4 cup of vinegar will drastically help color fading. I use delicate for dark clothes. And no spin .Then come back and spin them at top speed for maximum extraction. For Cotton's for less drying time. Low agitation ...low water...= Less fading and color retention. Heavily soiled darks clothing such as feces ...urine...mud..requires more water for flushing or pre wash.😉🌊💧 Bulky cycle reduces spin speeds it's over 700 rpms or less. For heavy bulky comforters.🔚💧 That could cause stress and In balancing problems.
I’ve had this machine for over a year now... no complaints. It’s a whole lot better than the sorry Bravos washers...had two of them and they were JUNK. We got this one as a result of the warranty replacement we had. Some of the things you don’t like...others may love...personal preference right?
Still trying to figure out all of the features. This video is helpful. Do you have a video regarding prewash soaking? I can't figure out how this works. I have the 725 model witht the agitator. Everything else is the same.
If you hold down the my Cycle button while deep rinse button is on does it save that setting so you don't have to go back and press deep rinse for each cycle.
Can’t do anything on the colors/normal cycle because that is the cycle that is used for the “energy guideline”. Therefore you can’t choose “deep fill” and uses the least amount of water it’s actually a cycle you should avoid.
I have this washer and confused as to the sanitize with oxi. The oxy says. To add before clotted and resolve. The manual says to add clothing then add the oxy and detergent. Mine also has an agitator
I have the exact unit for a year now… the biggest problem is the shaking when it spins. Sometimes it bangs on the inside of the machine when the spin initially starts. We always put the clothes in evenly, but somehow things get off balance, esp. with sheets and towels.
Joe the washer has an automatic sensor to balance clothes, but you must sort the sheets with sheets, towels with towels fold in half and make sure it’s placed evenly in the washer, jeans wash with jeans, can’t wash sheets and jeans together it will go way off balance
@@Zest4life890 Hi Judy, thanks, but we never had to do this with our HE MayTag Bravo washing machine. We only have two sheets each week - top sheet and fitted. It would be wasteful to separate sheets from towels, etc. btw: We are fully aware of how to evenly load the tub. During the various cycles, the contents don’t stay in their original locations and if not manually rebalanced before the spin cycle, it would go crazy!
I have the same washer...got it like almost a month ago, but I think there’s something wrong with mine because it doesn’t wash..... I mean it washed when I first got it but it doesn’t wash anymore. It will the water for a long time but will not wash.
I have this washer I think it's the 840 version. I don't like you can't adjust chime volume. I don't like that It makes more noise than my Whirlpool Cabrio did. The jean cycle is awesome. I'm still learning what cycle is best for different items. I do love that I can add more water and increase spin speed.
Mine fills then sounds like it is washing but not moving.....then it stay stuck on a "drain" but yet the clothes are still soaked because there was no spin ...how do I Fix this
@@christopherdunlap3803 sorry this took so long. Did you mean the clean washer cycle ? Yes the lid locks. With any of the wash cycles the lid will not lock during the wash cycle so you can easily add a forgotten garment.
I’ve had the washer for about three years and recently the control panel wasn’t working correctly. For example if I would press the “start” button the temperature changes would start to adjust if I pressed the power button other settings would change instead of the washer turning off. Anyone else have this problem with the panel controls ?
Great review. I just got mine delivered today however the first cycle I ran never actually completed the spin cycle. Now after figuring out how to self drain, It wont start another cycle. It simply sperts out two splashes of water then the door clicks then nothing! The display says "end." We have a tech coming in a couple of days but I am so baffled and frustrated with my BRAND NEW washer. Any ideas?
You need to purchase software update module from GE or other online shops. The symptom: high spin is not processing at the end of the cycle. Using software update models are not 100% guaranteed to fix your issues but worth trying it if you can borrow the modules from your neighbor or buy from used one from online shops. These models are affected list manufactured date between May 2015 and April 2018. Hi @CreatingMind, did your repair man find the cause of this issue?? Mine is doing the same thing all of a sudden after 6.5 years of working perfectly. Starts, door lock clicks closed, water sprays twice, machine makes the hummung sound a couple of times then the display says END. I really hope you can see my comment and would really appreciate your reply.
Installed the GE washer, however when the hot water valve was turned on it started to flow even though the washer was not turned on. Anyone else have a problem like this?
I’m gonna replace colors for jeans cycle, if it’s true that the agitation is better, cause normally the clothes don’t get fully submerged, does this newer model also let you hold deep fill for the 26 gallon fill up?
I have one of theese and toward the end of cycle it kicks out to paused mode ,with or without cloths in it ,it runs approximately 22-26 min ,with usually about 22ish min left, approximately 1-1.5 min into a spin cycle it just kicks out to paused ,I hit start and it'll go for 1-2min and do it again ,any suggestions
Just got this washer and so far I hate it for some reason every time I put the clothes to wash it shoots out the soap dispenser and all my detergent and softener falls all over the clothes it's very frustrating 😑
We have this exact model. The big problem we have is that it does not consistently spin out the clothes. they are frequently sopping wet. I have to either hand-wring each piece - a large problem with a large load - or put them in the dryer sopping wet, and then it takes about 4-6 hours to dry. Do you have any suggestions? is there a calibration mode, etc to fix this? This one problem renders this unit worthless - it is a deal breaker. It simply does not work properly - unless I'm missing something. Any advice on this?
Hi! Sorry I know this is an old video but I’m considering this washer and I’m hoping you can tell me if the sound button that turns down the beeping can turn every beep (even the knob choices) completely off?! Thank you so much 😄😄
I was just given some sort of filter, and the words on it say, 'Clean after every wash'. Where do I even put the thing? I pushed it in under the tray, and it fit, but I'm not sure that's where it goes. I'm scouring RU-vid trying to figure it out
Seeing as the moment the changed the cycle the washer stopped, and the lid unlocked. So if you have kids that like to tamper with the settings, if you do not hit the child lock feature, they can change everything mid cycle and you wouldn't even know.
I don’t have many good things to say about this washer. For starters it is a year old and is already messed up. My biggest issue is that the washer doesn’t wring out our clothes and constantly says it has balancing issues. When this happens it refills with water “wasting water” up to 3 fills, and then the clothes are soaked when the cycle ends. Also I can’t use the full capacity of this machine because it is so finicky. I can only load maybe a 4th of the way full.. smh I have to literally lay each piece of clothing out strategically, not covering the center and make sure heavy items are on bottom and balanced like a centrifuge. It takes like 5 minutes to load clothes in this manner and even still I get balancing issues and clothes soaked and washer not spinning them out. It’s maddening. The perk to having a smart “fancy” washer is to make your life easier right? Nope this one has gave me nothing but a headache. My recommendation to anyone looking to buy this, ***DON’T*** get another brand this one is trash. Also that 10 year warranty only covers the motor, not issues like mine so on top of paying for a new washer soon after purchase you will have to pay out of pocket for pricy repairs.
Bought this model July 2020, it's totally dead now. I had the same issue you mentioned for about 4 months, then had a loud pop from the circuit board area, no longer works at all.
My washer is stuck on control lock. Don't know how to restart. Called the customer service. But appt. For next week. I need to wash now. I take care of my sad. So i need to wash everyday. So how can i use my washer.?
I just received my new washer and went to wash the first load.... I have the load or normal but the deep fill wont work. Am I doing something wrong. I have read the instructions and can not see where I am doing wrong. Hoping that the problem is me and not this new washer. I got rid of a bravo washer because a it was a piece of crap. Hope i have better luck with this one

Jerome Davis the agitation is ok but and a big BUT..... Mc is right i keep trying to add water and you cant add extra water on this cycle... so now which cycles do I use for my colored clothes. Ugh.. they delivered this yesterday and I am doing my first load today and ran into this problem. I cant see any water yet i know its in there but the level is so low.
This washer is not a good unit to buy I’ve had mine for 6 months and now it won’t start the digital features goes crazy and starts when it wants to, I paid a lot for and thank God I got the extended warranty but it’s been defective from the beginning it’s not a good washer to buy so don’t get it
