Just joining not an architect, am a public health officer and for my country we do building drawings as well. Loved the intro really got me comfortable starting out on ArchiCAD 25. Thank you will be following the other videos, you never now might get me doing my second degree in architecture.
You can export it as a pdf in the layout book (I’ve got a video on this) also you can export them as a dwg. However you can get areas inside of archicad
@@DavidTomic I have one finished Archicad project, file, where drawings, floorplans, from stories are saved on Independent Worksheet as lines and fills (walls, openings and stairs) and over that are fills in colours to represent different areas of floorplans. Do you know how to save floorplans as that, fills and lines?
please make a tutorial that explains the difference between project map and view map and their respective functions. And where can we get object libraries for archicad as well as sketchup with its 3D warehouse. Thank you
From my own understanding, Project Map is a drawing/view without any defined "view settings". While in View Map, you can create lot of drawing with different "view settings" from one "Project Map". Later, the "View Map" drawing will be used in "Layout Book" for publishing. Project Map -> View Map -> Layout Book
Hello david ! Thank you for all you’re help you’re work is awesome! I have a question! What is the website were you download the archicad blocs ? Thank youu
There's a small dot that keeps shifting with my cursor and makes it jump, I can't transfer objects to the specified lines or position I want and I don't know how to correct it, I need some help coz it's really agitating
You’ve got it set to “snap to grid” press Alt+S to remove it / Olt+S on Mac from memory. Otherwise it’s a hashtag symbol with a small dot on one of the grip lines that show appear in your toolbar just unclick it. Any further issues jump on the free discord chat in the description.
@@DavidTomic thank you sir, I'm on the discord chat, I've been inactive for a while but I'm on, thanks again I'm proud to say I learned archicad with the help your page, like since I subscribed last year, I love your content sir thank you
Hi David, great Video, I have looked at so many but found that yours is "ArchiCAD for Dummies" like me as I have to watch it over and over again before anything sinks in. I'm new to ArchiCAD and I am currently doing an interior design course and I have chosen an advanced module of ArchiCAD. my issue/problem is that when I open ArchiCAD 25 it is the Australian version and I am in the UK. The version I have downloaded is the education version. To be absolutely honest with you I am struggling to even get started on the assignment for the module as I can't seem the even get the walls correct let alone put in the different room i.e. bedrooms, bathrooms. Some advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advanced
This is about as beginner as it gets. Unless you want me to start teaching architecture, what walls and slabs are then I don’t think I can do a better job.
Theres so many of them that only use walls.. they think if they still get the kill themselves its not really cheating, their just giving themselves the edge is all..
hi, this is my day 1 on archicad. On 21:00 your wall is continuous, but for my case, my wall ends as soon as I click left mouse button. Solution? and also, 21:27 , ASDW thing that you showed isn't working or I did't understand. My archicad version is also 25
Join the discord group chat in the description and let's solve your problems. First one is easy, simply click your wall tool up the top and change it from single wall to continuous, here you can change it to a circle too. Second one id have to review the video but drop a screenshot in the discord group chat
Hi, i think i have seen a video of yours where you mentioned how to save old archicad projects so you can open them in the future with future versions, can you tell me what was that format? Is it the archive format? Thx!
@@DavidTomic It's true that you can only back-save one version, but you can also save as a .PLA archive file to be able to open in *future* versions without issues, which I think is what @ovidiu meant :)
Hi, Using a DCP from a local council, what advice would you give to someone to better understand and identify non compliant designs on floorplans for medium density housing development in residential zones??
Hi David! Do you have a roof tutorial video? I'm struggling with something basic....it's the 3D roof of an already built house - the roof planes do not meet and they form a triangle at one place which I need to fill up with another plane but the single roof plane doesn't do the job....
Hi David, I can see "Renovation filters" folder, but it is above "properties", and I can't find "Renovtion options", and under the "Properties", I don't have "default element" there, Do I need to set up something? Thank you
potentially check the window > pallette > renovation filters tab, then try maximize your screen to see all the options. if this still doesnt help, join our discord group via the link in the description of one of my new videos, the group will be able to solve your issues in no time at all, especially with some screenshots
Hello David, I am inspired to learn ArchiCAD through your wonder tutorial videos. I am an Architect from Bhutan. Would you kindly help me model our traditional Bhutanese cornices in archicad by making a simple tutorial video?
Have a quick search for archicad profile marker and you should find a few options. I haven’t made a video on this yet but the premise is very much the same for all shapes that you can imagine :)
Great content, but as a tip for future videos; don't have a frame of yourself taking up 40% of my screen relestate. Are you here to learn us Archived or just to show your face? 😅
@@DavidTomic haha No need for it all. Remember that the majority of views are from mobile, and people watching a tutorial would like to actually see what you do. So have the software you're teaching in full screen showing all the menus and show your keyboard shortcuts 😎👌
Great tutorial, David. I'm just starting today with Archicad and your video is helping a lot. On minute 20:40 you talk about tapping a p button to change the exterior wall to be at the other side. I couldn't find it on the Archicad list of shortcuts nor pressing P on my keyboard would make the changes. Could you let me know what I'm missing on the shortcuts? Thanks!
The funny thing with archicad is it’s all subjective to your keyboard, your software version and even your computer system. However you can go to the work environment and add any extra shortcuts you might be missing or want :)
