Holy crap... So very informative that I almost couldn't believe it. As stated in other comments the links are not on the video and this is more or less for guys with boats. Other than that, thanks for the video. 30 minutes of time not wasted.

Love your channel Nick! I've always been a saltwater guy but I've always been interested in freshwater. I've been freshwater fishing for about 3 years now with my own humble baitcast setup and spinning setup and I have to tell you, your channel is my go to channel for everything I need to know. I loved your bass fishing from shore video and your bass fishing 101 "class". Keep doing what you're doing my friend!

I just started bass fishing because of a Co worker he gave me a medium action spinner rod and I haven't got any bass yet since I'm still not to familiarize with where to fish and since he has a Jon boat he can fish lakes and cast to the rocks or Lilly pads but since I haven't got a bass yet beside really small ones he started to tell me to just quit bass fishing since he quote on quote a pro with sponsors he stopped showing me how to fish for bass and looking at this video explained a lot I didn't even know thank you for helping a beginner like me

Finally a video that teaches first time bass anglers how to get started, most videos just list 400 techniques and tell you to fish cover and then end so i thank you the very informative Nick. I am just about to go bass fishing for the first time and i was wondering if i can dropshot on my baitcasting setup? Thanks again.

I would be happy as hell if I caught that fish at 19:46. I've fished for 3 days with 500 casts had no bites and caught probably the smallest bass in history, but like you said I was just throwing in the middle and not trying to go along with banks. Good tips, thanks.

When first getting started you can but you will start running into times that you will need accuracy and power. Baitcasting outfits preform much better with stronger line than spinning outfits do. You can also be much more accurate plus have the power to yank them out of heavy cover and structure.

If you're truly a beginner listen. All you need is a rod(a cane pole will even work) some weights. Some hooks. A bobber. Live worms or minnows. THAT'S IT! That's how most adults caught their first bass! If you just want the experience of catching them the easiest simplest way is to just use live worms or minnows under a cork.

Ok I currently own a Shakespeare circus fishing rod 6'6 Action : Medium with a 6-10 line and a Shakespeare circus spinning reel gear ratio 5.0:1 6lb/290yds 8lbs/220yds 10lb/180yds. I need and want a new one ! When I chose my first combo fishing rod kit I just got because it was cheap and got the first one I saw lol. Since I have been fishing lately (mostly in lakes, rivers, and reservoirs,) in so-cal during summertime I fish for mostly bluegill, bass, carp, and catfish. I want to use my current fishing rod for bluegill and Im looking for a new fishing rod and reel to catch largemouth bass, catfish and whatever I can. The problem is that I don't know if I should buy a combo or buy rod and reel separately. The rod I want is 7 feet Action: medium heavy 12+ line and a good fishing reel that can cast far out since im fishing from the bank. Any tips for which type of rod and reel I should get with the specs ? Im trying to spend around or less than $50 for the reel and rod ill go more if needed. The rod I want is tall with a strong line a good spinning reel for FRESHWATER fish ? Im just a new fisher kid 17 yrs old and no to ask for advice in my family because no one likes it except my cousin and we barely have been fishing around a total combined hours of 30hrs fishing and only caugh 5 bluegill 3-5 inches :( and 2 catfish 8 inches we catch and release (: Please help me find a new fishing rod and reel or fishing kit around plus or minus $50 Thanks !

When would you want to be stealthy? I caught my first bass fishing for snook and tarpon in brackish water. I chucked a huge plug and I don't think it was in the water for more than a second when he exploded on it. A few other times since, the same has happened with weighted jigs: splash and instant strike. It seems as though I could've thrown a rock and they would've bit because they hit it so quickly.

+InformativeFisherman two questions: since you fish the Delta, how does that Irod hold up to the incidental striper bite, and how much drag is ideal for a rig that is primarily a dedicated bass rod but can be used for striper in a pinch? I ask because I got a deal on that same rod and I'm looking to pair it up with either a Citica I or a Revo SX. I like the Citica better, but it only has 10lbs of drag whereas the Abu has 20. Will 10lbs cut it if I accidentally/on purpose hook into a striper?

No, you can't. You shouldn't hold any fish horizontally by the lip. Not a one pound, let alone a four pound. But he did not hold the fish horizontally. He barely tilted it at all. People just like to complain.

Well, I don't think I'm ever going to learn fishing. Have no idea what you just said. Not sarcastic, just sad that I can't find anyone that knows how to show someone that has never fished, how to do it. I didn't know one word you said! I come from a long line of fishermen. All my brothers, my father, and about 50 family members that fish like crazy. Live on the Chesapeake Bay, and can't fish! I'm one heck of a crabber though, so I guess I will have to stick to that. Bless, Sheila

+Alfatejp Blind It's one of those "all the guys" thing. They don't mind teaching me to shoot, but fishing is their "thing" I think they get too excited to have the patience to teach me. I'm sorry I sounded so rude, but I finally found someone to help, and I didn't mean to sound the way it came out.. I just got really excited seeing the fishing skills and felt lost again. I will learn, and even getting good at knots, but have a long way to go. I will be going to my pier this weekend, and will be giving it a try. This did make me decide that it was time to finally make myself learn this. Bless, Sheila

Hey IF, I've learned so much from your videos, so thanks for that. I've had luck with bass fishing on docks, tullies and against banks while trolling on a boat... I'd like to know when it's appropriate to be casting into the middle of the lake? Is this just a matter of how deep the water is? I see a lot of videos having such good luck but I don't have enough confidence to target the middle yet. In Norcal, I've been to Chabot, San Pablo, Los Vaqueros, the Delta (Disco Bay area) if you have any reference to those places (like your San Pablo video of you catching a 10lb was what made me go there actually lol) that would be helpful.. Anyway, keep it up. Cheers!

I rarely bass fish, but I've been catching a lot of striped bass lately when bottom fishing for catfish with live shad or nightcrawlers. I had never caught a striped bass before three weeks ago and I've already caught a couple dozen. Anybody know if there's a reason why stripers are so prevalent in the Midwest right now?
