Great guide. I started fishing 2 years ago and I've tried to learn as many rigs and techniques as possible. As many others have said, the dropshot is basically my secret weapon on days when nothing else is getting bites. I always have one of my rods rigged up with it. It's just a super reliable and versatile rig that every bass fisherman should have in their arsenal.

Dude you are the best! I love your channel. Straight to the point. No five minutes of rambling on about things that have nothing to do with the video. No annoying product placement hoping that you will land some sort of sponsorship. Just detailed information with the data to back up what you are teaching. you currently top the list of fishing channels in my opinion.

I'm amazed with this rig. Used it many times just to mess around but the 1st time I really committed to fishing with it for more than a few casts I caught a 3 Lbs Largemouth and a 8Lbs catfish. Because of that I got a spinning reel combo and to use it for more finesse presentations. Definitely a rig that works all year round and worth trying.

hands down, 1000% correct on everything you said about the dropshot. it works in almost ANY situation and ANY location. probably the most deadly rig i have use thus far. deep water, shallow water, drop offs, weed edge, sand bar just about ANYWHERE. the only down side to this rig is that you'll get so bored catching so many fish and it a slow working rig lol. i usually dont go straight to drop shot, but when its a hard day, i know what rig im using.

We used to do this 40 years ago in southern Calif lakes. Don Iovino from burbank made some beautiful drop shot and doodle bait and complete kits. Most beautiful hand poured colors and worms you ever saw. We murdered giant bass at castaic in the 1980s

I am a multi-species fisherman, and I use this rig a lot but I primarily fish with live bait and dead bait and I use two hooks instead of one. I also use a specialized dropshot knot which seems to keep the hook in place a lot better than other knots.

I am staggered. In 2006 Berkley introduced soft plastic fishing to new Zealand. We loved it for sea fishing and taught us the value of fluorocarbon as leader. For years we have used ledger or paternoster rigs but always tied with leader, and always with a length of leader from the mainline so the hook floats out and away from the mainline. You dont bother with that or even leader and you catch fish. Amazing

I have been tying my drop shot rigs with palomar knots. Tuck the tag end back through the eye to get it to stand up straight and it works fine. I also tie 2 hooks on above the weight, about 8-12 inches apart. I've been using bait holder hooks with live worms on them and have caught smallmouth, sucker fish, catfish, tench, largemouth, and even a pike! I either cast it out and let it sit or I will lift the rod tip slowly and draw the weight across the bottom and then lower the rod tip and reel in the slack. Both techniques have produced fish for me!

I love using a bug 12 inch heavy worm instead of the weight of the bottom. Obviously it makes it lighter but giving two presentations in one has caught me tons of bass.

I watched a guy use this rig for walleye fishing at my local dam. He just stood on the side wall of the dam dangling it straight down where the water gushes out of the secondary vent. He had a live minnow on it and the walleye couldn't resist. I watched him catch his and his sons limit in about 25 minutes. That's why I'm here to learn this rig. Thanks!

Basically the same drop shot setup... Its most all i do here in S. Korea. I toss at an angle toward the bank and work its way back to me jigging slightly. Kills bass here.

Excellent video. Keep em coming. In the tactics section, you touched on something that's been a major mental block for me. I always thought i should fish it vertically so as to have the bait perpendicular to the line. That has it's obvious limitations as far as covering water etc. It makes sense to me now that you can fish it like a carolina rig or even swim it back. Wow have i missed out on some bass! Kind of like when i first learned how to fish a jig. It wasn't for a year or two after that i realized how deadly swimming them was.

Great video. I started really fishing for bass with the corona quarantine. With the internet I have learned a ton and my fishing has really improved. So far I have used consistently, flukes, worms (Texas and wacky), spinner baits, top water (frog, plug, whopper popper), and swim jigs, just one on a chapter bait. I haven't tried the drop shot. I will get the necessary tackle try it and report back. I live in South Florida and fish deep residential canals of my paddle board. This technic sounds like a good option.

I would also recommend bobber stoppers for the hook. this will allow adjusting the depth of the hook and you can easily adjust it to conditions. Awesome video as usual.
