December 2017, I was sleepless for days because I had my mind blown with machine learning, that lead me into cryptos and my mind was blown a second time just in a few days. First programming language, first computer , first time on the internet , computer science education and now this. I had tears in my eyes from the 3rd minute, I paused and reflected on my life, on my duty, our duty as people who can speak code. I just knew I was on the right path. Abdullah Alruwaili he calls it money maybe because it's easier for the new audience to understand and he called it a system of trust because it's not conventional system of physical money, you just trust that what you are getting (bitcoin) has value and it equals the value of your work/product.

'decentralized money' as opposed to a 'centralized' government issued currency. Also known as fiat currency when the government deliberately debases it's own currency through the power of the printing press which literally all and I do mean all sovereign nations continue to do. Now Bitcoin is a blockchain-based currency with built in algorithmic 'decentralized' safeguards that prevent this type of currency abuse.

Great Video! Forgive me for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you thought about - Zanackson Pocket Buster (do a google search)? It is a great one of a kind guide for learning how to make an extra income online minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my work colleague after many years got great results with it.

Yesterday a young man planning a massacre at Federation Square in Melbourne during New Years eve was apprehended on the basis of financial monitoring data shared between a bank, AUSTRAC and law enforcement. Complex monitoring algorythms coupled with KYC protocols means that even when cash is used a trail is often still left. We can all sing the benefits of decentralised anonymous peer to peer transactions but sometimes privacy must be sacrificed for security. I live in Melbourne and may have attended that event so before you quote Lincoln just think about this for a minute.

All bitcoin transactions are publicly visible to anyone. They leave a trail which you can follow. Google "Sheep Market Scam" and the related account 1CbR8da9YPZqXJJKm9ze1GYf67eKAUfXwP. It was used to launder 96,000 stolen BTC by a fraudster. Trail is still there as intact and ready for forensic analysis as it was in 2012. Plus, just today UK Treasury announced their plans to require a disclosure of identity of bitcoin traders. Other countries will do the same. Eventually, the system is going to be an improvement on our current banking system but not as anonymous as feared / hoped (depending on your political views :)

OMG. Old guy (retired engineer) talking here: I am blown away by this presentation. I’ve listened to Booth, Saylor, Saifedean, Breedlove, Adam Back and many others. These folks are great - they fed me BTC milk. But Antonopoulos is the purest signal among the noise that dominates the digital currency environment. SNR >= infinity!!

Excellent video on the bitcoin concept. A dynamic, articulate and forceful presentation of its underlying theory and revolutionary implications for society and the world. That said, the “flip-side” question of all this remains unsaid and perhaps not fully pondered - what are the negative consequences and fallout of total “decentralization” of value, communication and protocol? Ultimate chaos, confusion and anarchy? Breakdown of control, organization and progress? Bitcoin itself is now splintering and fracturing - bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold and forks and segits and numerous copy-cat and cousin cryptos and more ICOs on the way. If it happens with crypto, it will likely happen with any other technology based on open-source blockchain. Big Brother in reverse - everyone becomes a Little Brother and little progress gets done? Just asking questions, amigos; just questions.

@Gary - this is a very valid point, and something i have been pondering myself. As much as we like to villainize government control of currency, there are real benefits to our current system of money in the forms of 'protections'. ( this can of course be debated). I speculate that in the future, governments will issue their own cryptocurrencies (doubt they will be finite in qty). At that point, the IRS job becomes very easy. Kind of scary that crypto aligns with some biblical prophesies. I will leave it at that.

The best plot twist would be that Andreas himself was the creator of Bitcoin. Being able to spread the evangels of crypto since he has a fortune of it since early mining
