Hello everyone :)
Here is our second part of our Introduction to Dynamic Simulation on CATIA 3DExperience R2020x.
This time, we will talk about the second parameter of contact restitution coefficient. This parameter allows the different part to bounce when there is a collision.
Like in the first Part, you will create a mechanism verify the weight and create contacts between component. Then you will create a dynamic scenario in Mechanical Systems Experience. You will be able to create a gravity excitation and compute the dynamic simulation.
The case of the simulation is a ball falling on trampolines. You can play with the restitution coefficient of the trampolines to obtain different results in the dynamic simulation like high bounce or no bounce at all. The goal is to put the ball in the bowl :)

Super idée les trampolines. J'ai testé la première partie et j'essaie de jouer avec les paramètres pour tout comprendre. Je vais tout de suite essayer cette seconde partie. Cool ;)

Je viens de tester c'est pas mal; mais lorsque l'on modifie un paramètre comme l'emplacement d'un trampoline ou de la balle il se passe des choses bizarres comme une trajectoire aléatoire !!

Merci pour ton commentaire Paul! Les trampolines c'était surtout pour expliquer la notion de coefficient de restitution :) Nnormalement la moindre modification du scénario, c-a-d emplacement des trampolines ou de la bille, le changement des masses ainsi que les paramètres de contacts, devrait changer complètement le résultat... Mais par fois la simulation peut être un peu capricieuse. Essaye différent scénario, mais garde toujours 1s de calcul au début (pour ne pas attendre trop longtemps) J'espère que ça aide! Bon courage pour la suite :)

Hi, great video. I have a problem with the weight, it is red, you know what I can do to solve it? Cheers

Thank you for your kind comment Rubén Hernandez ! Yes it is red when you are missing material. It is orange when in legacy preferences/General/Parameters and Measure/Weight Management, you use the default density (for instance 7770kg_m3 = steel). Then you have 3 choices: 1) use the default density and click on update weight. it should be orange. 2) You can declare the weight. for instance ball = 10kg. It should be blue. 3) You can apply a CORE Material to the BODY of the part (important that it is not a COVERING Material! because no density), then on the B.I essential, you click on update weight and it should be green. @@MaximeChagnot Excellent thank you very much! I was able to solve it by updating the version of the platform, on the other hand, by clearing the cache memory I was able to access the links for update weigth.
