Thanks for this Caleb! I've read and watched a lot of different things about databases, but this is the first video I've seen where the teacher actually shows dbms in action. It's very helpful! I'm the kind of person that needs to visualize what I'll be doing in order to learn it.

don't know why my workbench, adding table tag is different with yours. not show column list, but only a title with 3 lined blanks of Column Name, Collation and Comments. Also, the blanks don't allow me to edit. The workbench version is 6.3.5 build 201 CE(bit32) running on my 64bit windows7. Any ideas? Thanks,

Make sure when creating the FK in the sales table, you had already checked the user_id in the sales table to be unsigned.If not, when selecting the FK in the sales table, you will not be able to select users.id in the users table as the FK.

I've been using xampp for 3 years and I'm so confused as to where MySQL workbench actually comes in. What is it? How do I use it? Am I supposed to use it with XAMPP?? I'm so lost in the database world as far as workbench goes

sir i could not install my sql on my laptop. they are asking to enter root password which was created at the time when previous cluster was created but i dont know what is that root password. tell me how to solve this problem.plz help me with it... is there any website which can provide me online sql executer which will help me to creat new databases and use them??

@ 5:05 i can only select sale_id in the column, all is set the same, anyone can help ? EDIT: i found out i can set it only if the user_id in "sales" table is unsigned.

Mysql workbench 6.3 does not work with windows 10 ... I get "Mysql workbench has stopped working" error message every time I try to connect to localhost, 127.0.0.1 or remove servers. I have xamp installed and tried disabling apache and sql but it does not work. Luckily HeidiSQL works fine.

You need to slow down clicking between tabs !!! I appreciate the fact that you are showing how to do things. Be systematic, and think of the viewer trying to follow you. I do not know why anyone has not done a walk through of the HMI to familiarize the user with this application, then do an example, that would be a systematic approach.

No, no, no! You are starting too advanced! I have a database class and the Chinese assistant profesor does this, and the guy is really hard to understand! Please start with what are the various windows there. And then, how do I ** create ** a datbase with the workbench? That should be the very first thing. You started with a database already created. Well, where did that come from!? So far, I watched the first minute and all you did was confuse me.

+Anthony Starfield while i slightly agree with you. I do find that maybe you are slightly wrong as well. If you have studied slightly before on more advanced things that you dont fully understand these kinda things can help you cement what you think you know. I was actually getting mad at this, because my gui didnt look exactly like this guys. And it made it so i couldnt see the table for making your colums correctly. the bottom of was made to small and i couldnt see the important parts of the gui. IT was annoying, but i figured it out and from previous learning in other coding videos i figured everything else out. I think its just you need to study father then where you are now. So later you do well. Thats literally just did and im running smoothly

CalebTheVideoMaker2 That is true,.... I have been messing around with quite a few (Free) DB Managers and for DB Administrators, they are ideal, but for someone who is developing some software and just wants to quickly set up a database, a few tables, keys and relations, I think they are overly complicated. PhpMyAdmin fits this bill and is nice easy and simple to use.

+Jason King phpMyAdmin, in my option, is mainly used by developers who don't concentrate as much on the actual design of the database, thus having limits. Its great, like the other two side, for someone who just needs to set something up and has a limited amount of knowledge in SQL. On the other hand if you are a DBA or SQL developer, or perhaps someone who concentrates in tuning performance for SQL servers Theeeen something like workbench is nice. It just really depends, you wouldnt use ruby mine for python would you?

If you already know the Workbench and whatever PHP My Admin is, then why are you watching a tutorial and being all nit picking?
