A walkthrough of several fundamental pieces of our papercraft modular terrain, showing how you can turn your flat dungeon maps into 3d environments for your tabletop roleplaying games!
No painting. No 3d printing. The richly textured pieces can be printed on a home inkjet printer on photo paper or cardstock. All the parts are easy to craft by hand, and it all stores compactly! If you're looking for DIY terrain or props for your tabletop games, see what we have to offer.
You can visit paperrealms.com to see our whole catalog of papercraft terrain, buildings and props!

I already have some of your sets but never got round to build them. I think I'm gonna make time to start building them. I already have a lot of the tavern tiles printed out, time to wrap them and build my tavern

A direct link in the description of the video to your website and files would be helpful!

The way this stuff works is striking similar to worldworksgames paper terrain. I’ve gotten their stuff many years back. I’ll have to explore what you folks are offering. I love paper terrain.

loved it. Nice system, must be a saver when it comes to storing

For sure, you can pack a LOT into a relatively small space! I store each of my terrain sets in a photo box, which honestly is a little too small, but it fits a LOT of terrain pieces!

Nice system and good design! Two questions: What kind or weight of paper do you use? I like the system of connect the post. But, don't bend with the use? I'll bought one (or more) core modular terrain set, thanks your generous offer in DriveThruRPG. Congratulations and good luck in your project! Regards!

Great questions! I hope to get some more videos in place early this year to walk through a lot of topics in detail about construction, tools and supplies, techniques etc. But, for now, I'll address your two specific questions: >> What kind or weight of paper do you use? That's a really common thing folks ask. I use a local office supply print shop for my terrain, and I have them print on their inexpensive 110lb (199gsm?) white cardstock. Photo paper tends to work as well, and for home inkjet printing, might produce more vivid colors; if you're printing with an inkjet printer, you might want to experiment a little bit with your printer settings as you may find the prints coming out dark and/or muddy. You might imagine that setting the quality to its highest value is always best, but this can sometimes work against you! >> Don't [the posts? the tabs the posts attach to?] bend with use? If you are asking about the posts specifically... The heavy cardstock should be rigid enough for the posts to maintain their shape. They're designed to fold flat for really compact storage (many, though not yet all, core sets have been updated to have custom storage boxes for posts and walls!). If you are asking about the tabs on the tiles that the posts attach to... The tabs are two-layers thick, so once glued, the cardstock is quite rigid. After I've taken apart a modular build, I stack my tiles upside down and sit something flat on top, like a book, while I put away other pieces. This can press those tabs back into place so they can store as compactly as possible. Over time, it's possible for a tab or two to become damaged. They are easy to replace! If the tab wasn't glued on strongly, it may pop off the tile. Just add a drop of glue, press gently in place, and in a couple minutes it will be as good as new. If the tab has accidentally torn for some reason, your craft knife can be used to slice just the one tab off, and a new one can be attached in its place. If you have any questions, you're welcome to reach out at info@paperrealms.com and we can share some tips and tricks to get the most of your creations!

Nice system! Are the walls 3 inch tall as well? Do you have a scifi range? Your system would be perfect for Deadzone if the walls are 3 inch high as this game uses a 3x3x3 cube system.

The walls are 2" tall - things are primarily designed around a 1"=5' scale, so 2" make for a nice even number to run with. Sci-fi terrain is on my radar, but not much progress to show yet.

This system looks exactly like the system created by Worldworks about ten years ago.

If you're familiar with one, you'll be familiar with the other, but they aren't identical systems as everything Paper Realms has done has been from the ground up - templates, cutfiles, instructions, everything. If you'd like more information, just reach out to us at info@paperrealms.com and we'd be happy to chat!

That's the company that this reminded me of, especially the walls! I still have my WorldWorks files. Still good!

Yeh I’m literally building some Terrainlinx terrain from Worldworks right now! This is identical, even down to the design of the connectors having the black in the middle to hide gaps between tiles! Terrainlinx is old maybe 15 years or so perhaps there is no patent on the design/system?

@@andyfinlay4833Thanks for checking this out! Identical isn't the right word, but the systems are similar! That's not being coy - just more accurate. The short story is this - back in the day, I was a contributor to the WWG ecosystem, providing a large number of 'kitbashes' of their products to try to help keep the community going during the time shortly after they moved on to other ventures. Eventually, I made the decision to remove everything I had from them - files, built products, etc. (even my build of The Maiden!) and I spent a number of years building other terrain systems (and exploring other hobbies to clear my head). I finally decided to start from the ground up and build what I loved in a way that was not infringing on any protected intellectual property. There's no intention to even have other systems be physically compatible, though I use nice round numbers for measuring things. If you ever have any questions or ideas you'd love to see made into reality, you're always welcome to reach out to info@paperrealms.com!

@@paperrealms appreciate the detailed reply. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not accusing or bashing your work (the quality looks fantastic by the way), I am more than happy to take your word on all this😀 The key thing for me is that right people are getting the credit (and the money!) for their work, all too often indie developers get caught and damaged through copies and unauthorised sharing. I’ll follow your product with interest! Any thoughts on modern/sci-fi designs?

this is just wylochs system or no?

Nope! Aside from the notion of having modular tiles that can plug together, I think they share very little in common.
