Only nine years late. Just getting into amateur radio. Thank you for all the information. You done on each and every band. And using your radio to show all of us newbie exactly were. To tune and each mode. Seeing it is .. like Wow makes more sense than just a printed band plan.

When the solar cycle permits, one fun thing to try is listening for long path over the south pole at around sunrise. It really helps if you have a directional antenna. Most of the signals you'll hear are from VUs - India. If conditions are really good, you can hear Central Asian stations. As the sun progresses, propagation will move to the Middle East, then Africa. If conditions are really good, you can hear southern Europe - Italy, Greece, etc. The furthest signal I've ever heard was from Britain long path, but that's very unusual. If solar activity is high, you can hear long path on 17 and 15 meter bands in the morning. Sometimes you can hear long path from Australia and the Pacific (their sunrise) to the east in the afternoon.

Nice summary and very useful coverage of the 20 meter band. You have very good overall insight on this subject , from the way you make observations about the diurnal timing, seasonal patterns, direction related characteristics, and correlation with geomagnetics, besides other matters. This is high quality amateur radio information. I am seeing it 6 years after posting. Still so very useful and informative. Somewhat surprised at the very few comments over this long a period of 6 years. Thanks, and keep up the good work. KD2KWH.
