Well, this is true. I was in a Marine Corps Hawk unit from 1969 through 1972. I was Sergeant over the Pulse Acquisition/Fire Control section. We always had the ability to shoot down aircraft or ballistic missiles. I was surprised when I read in the 1990s that it was considered a short/medium range antiaircraft missile. The only thing I could think of is the Pentagon must have another pet project they wanted to push so the changed the description. I doubt the Hawk's abilities had changed. The space Aliens thing must be a joke. I watch the skies for 4 years and never saw a space alien, ever.
@Dr.Dave3855 Dave Bowman Sounds like the HIPIR was in acquisition mode and liked your vehicle as a target! LOL! I tracked a deuce once coming down a mountain road on the back end of MacGregor range. It's interesting to listen to the doppler in the headphones and hear the driver downshift....
I was a USMC Sargent stationed at Cherry Point, NC from 1977 - 1980. I was a section head over the pulseaq, cwaq, and ror for Charlie battery 3rd LAAM Bn.

Because there was an incident in South Florida in the late 60's where the illuminator radar was pointed at a UFO and it fried the entire system. The radar screen began to turn backwards just before the system shut down implying that the polarity of the entire electrical system (DC back then) was reversed. Also during this incident a Russian Mig out of Cuba disappeared while pursuing these objects.. A VERY fascinating and true story.... I know that operator of the unit at the time.

Love the Bugs Bunny style music they have in these military videos. There's something a bit twisted about happy music and killing machines being tied together. Thanks for the video.
I remember when they came in and upgraded everything. One of the hawkers decided to show off the new cameras they had installed on the mickey mouse ears. He aimed it at birds on a power line and kicked it up to full radiate. Poor birds all fell off dead within minutes.
