~I love my TRP, which is as close as I can get to the Professional Model for under a $2,000 price tag. ~IMO, if you can not afford a Professional Model, the TRP Model or the Operator Model are great values in high grade 1911 Pistols.

I carried a Pro Model as a duty pistol for years. The first time, I broke it down to clean it. My finger slipped off recoil spring plug. It came out with such force, the plug broke plastic cover for the light in my laundry room So use caution during disassembly.
@yrsued
@yrsued 5 лет назад
Arthur Oubre Yup, that recoil spring has some force behind it, yes, you need to be extremely careful.
@carl-ok9gn
@carl-ok9gn 5 лет назад
i'd recommend taking it apart like a glock or other pistols. first, pull the slide rearward until the takedown notch aligns, then pull out the slide stop, let the slide go forward and hold the spring in the slide with the fingers of the hand on the slide, under the slide. this method is quicker, less wear and tear on the gun, and results in less flying things. also, it's good practice to never rotate the bushing on the bearing surface of the barrel. rather push the barrel forward in the slide so the bushing rotates behind the bearing surface and wont be tight around the barrel. these practices are used on high end, custom bullseye guns. the pro is not a bullseye gun but is a tight, hand fit gun so it applies.

I just bought one of these. It’s an absolutely gorgeous 1911. Mine specifically came somewhat covered in finger marks and smudges. Not clean and pristine the way you’d expect a firearm of this price range to arrive. Is that normal? Also any further thoughts at this point of ownership? How would you compare the SA Customs to Wilson Combats? People seem to put the Pro down due to its MIM parts and say for what you’re paying you’d be better off with a Nighhawk or Wilson Combat. Any validity to this? Thanks!
@yrsued
@yrsued 3 года назад
On the fingerprints, unless you have an FFL, and Springfield sent this directly to you, most likely scenario is that the Gun Store staff opened it to verify the Serial Number and they fondled it thoroughly before selling it to you!! The first thing I would do is "BREAK IT IN", which means, shoot it!! This pistol is tight from the factory and should be shot a lot, I would say from 200-500 rounds, it breaks in and you get used to the way it shoots!! This is a Custom Made gun, it compares very nicely to all Custom made guns out there, MIM is a good technology, there is nothing wrong with it, as long as they use good MIM, which they do!!
@danielhenderson8316
@danielhenderson8316 4 года назад
Had one and loved it. Had to sell it for money issues. Word of warning for potential buyer: This pistol is a time capsule. It is Tactical 1911 circa 2004. As such, the trigger is heavier than current Tac 1911s, you might want to change out the MIM Slide Stop and Mag Button, and odds are you'll want to trash the Novak sights for something like Wilson Battlesights or Trijicon HDs since these sights are black except at night. The only options you have is do you want 9mm and/or a rail? As long as you don't want to change anything, it's great, but changing it to your tastes can get overly pricy.

Let’s be clear! I have NO PROBLEM with Gun Sight! I have said in the past FRONT SIGHT has a manual that teaches antiquated position and grips in their manual! Never have I said anything about Gun Sight. Gun Sight is a great training academy that has adapted with the times over the years. Also I have seen videos of people and instructors shooting at Front Sight and they are NOT doing what they print in the manual. That is a problem. Again Gun Sight not an issue with AT ALL!

Shooting too the left is NORMALLY because of your trigger pull, right? Pull the trigger, on an empty mag, and FREEZE right after you pull. Are you still on target, or did you pull a tiny bit to the left? Yes, I'm a lefty, so I pulled to the right. It was only an inch or two off of the bullseye, but it was still OFF.
@yrsued
@yrsued 5 лет назад
I ransom rested this pistol, It shot a bit to the left, like my Wilson Vickers Elite, I adjusted the front and rear sights to perfection and the issue was over. I saw another manufacturers gun shot 7" to the left at five yards, when we ransom rested it, the issue was worse, he had to send it back!! This time the issue was the sights were a little off, but NOT by much!!

@@BigChiefTomTom53 No apologies necessary, These things happen, the pistols are tested and then shipped and not everyone holds a pistol the same way and we all have different eyes too!! Now I use Monovision Glasses due to old eyes and some dominance problems, but this pistol just needed a little nudge in the sights to meet my eyes. I have to admit that I did have a few bad habits before I took my first Gunsite class, but thanks to them, I got my issues resolved!! I owe them a whole lot, they fixed my issues

Not to knock what the Professional is but....really....how different is it from e.g. the TRPÉÉ :) In terms of `shootablity`. One gun as few MIM parts the other none. . One is a few hundred dollars cheaper..... Both has ben used be LEéòpertors`.....if THAT matters in one`s gu purchase...heh....Both are `hand-fit`, tight tollerancs...etc.....
@yrsued
@yrsued 5 месяцев назад
You're not knocking the Pro, the main difference is that the Pro is hand built at the Custom Shop and the TRP is a production gun, both great guns, I have both!! The OLD TRP is still being made because it is Kommiefornia Compliant, it is in the stupid Roster. The new TRP is VERY NICE and I have their Lightweight Commander. I need to get the full size .45. I think the TRP should be good enough for anyone looking for a good 1911. The Pro is just a step above!!

My friend, it's shooting to the left because of your left index finger being wrapped around the trigger guard. As you grip tightly with your right hand when firing, your left hand sympathetically tightens, too, pulling your gun to the left.

@@yrsued i deleted my comment before i noticed you replied cause it was pretty uncalled for. i was in a grumpy mood and i replied like a jerk. but as for zins, i think he would consider it very overrated. zins is quite adamant about his own technique. gunsite is living in the past. their tactics and methods are quite outdated and their cadre are not experts, but rather more along the lines of good ol' fellas. not everything they do is a joke, but as an 'elite' training institute, they are. ed head and many of the instructors there believe they are the pinnacle of firearms training. however, what they do is nearly identical to the first level of basic instruction in the military. the reason i despise them is they teach things as their way is the only correct way. no reason for me to be rude, but i realize i was. it irks me when i hear people making up excuses for shooting left. i realize that's my own personal issue and there's no reason for it to upset me. by far the most common problem for shooters is anticipation which often causes trigger problems. your shooting is far above average and it's clear you have solid fundamentals. who am i to judge or validate any of this. this is an anonymous account commenting on youtube videos. i enjoyed your video and would like to see more. i will restrain myself from being an ass.
