Hello Everyone,
This new video is an introduction to Topology Optimization on the 3DExperience Release 19x.
Functional Generative Design application brings the best of CATIA (design) and SIMULIA (topology optimization) in order for you to create light and robust parts.
This video will show you the entire topology optimization process on a aluminium bracket that can handle 500N (50kg).
You will see how to create a design space and add the functional regions.
Then you will create a mesh, add loads and constraints and run a structural simulation.
After that you will setup the topology optimization parameters and run the job.
The result will be a lighter version of the part. you can run another simulation to validate the result.
The organic geometry will be automatically generated. This result can be used for 3D Printed.
However if you do not have a 3D Printer, it is also possible to generate a prismatic solid based on machining rules.

Hello Patrica, for the whole video or for the topology optimization calculation? If it is the first you do it, it might take a bit more time, because of process to accept in background. Otherwise the calculation time depends also of type of cpu (and internet connection if you are on cloud).

Hello Maxime, I seem to not have the "Design Space" tab in the action bar on the bottom in the Functional Generative Design Workbench. Do you have an idea why this might be? Regards, Marnix

Hello Marnix, sorry for the late reply, busy week! Well I am not sure why you do not see it, but it could be that your removed the tab from the action bar. If so, open the app, then go to Customize menu (click on your profile then preferences) and in sections tab, you should be able to resto all contents. That should put it back. If it does not work, you may not have the full license that I have then... Hi! Thank you for video, it helped me a lot but I cannot validate the setup. There is an execution error, it told me that no license is found in certain file. How to fix this kind of problem?

Unfortunately, I have no idea of the solution, you should contact dassault support via the support app ( www.3ds.com/support/contact/call-us/submit-a-request/ ) or post your issues on catia community directly ( r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com/#community:6 ). Hello!! Thank you get for information. I have a questions. I wanna add Abstraction Shape but did not find it. Do i need a license to use it? Can you help me ?

Hello Muhammed, thank you for your comment :) You need to have at least 1 simulation application from Simulia for creating Abstraction Shape. And I think this feature appeared in Release 2018x or 2019x so if you have lower than that you cannot do it. You can also ask this question directly to the SIMULIA Learning Community: r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com/#community:39 I hope this answer your question!

I have followed each and every step carefully, but when I hit 'compute shape', the error message pops up saying, "Failed to launch execution using the compute orchestration services." Do you have any idea on how to get rid of this error? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks !

Hello Daniyal, Thank you for commenting and exercising on the video :) I had the same issue in the past. But it could come from many different reasons... verify that you are up to date with your java and graphic card (watch video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hBK7dwVtrJo.html ), also check if your firewall is not blocking the 3Dexperience, try to run 3Dexperience as Administrator as well. If nothing of that work, I strongly recommend you to report this in a Service Request (watch video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TP2Mdp6qIyc.html ). I hope this helps you.

Merci beaucoup, c'est vraiment utile. Par contre, lorsque je voulais faire l'optimisation "Compute Shape", un message d'erreur s'est affiché et je savais pas quoi faire? Le message est le suivant: "Le serveur d'orchestration des calculs est inaccessible. Veuillez vérifier votre configuration". Est ce que vous avez rencontré ce problème et comment le résoudre svp? Merci d'avance.

Hi Jigar, Yes you can do that with CATIA 3DExperience student version academy.3ds.com/en (your school need to purchase it). This functionality does not work on CATIA V5

Hi Jigar, I believe you can only do it on CATIA 3DExperience R19x - R20x and R21x (maybe R18x too)
