I am a 63 year old jazz musician from the USA and am fascinated by Indian Classical Singing and it's poignant complexity, like life itself. You did a phenomenal job explaining the basics and the ornamentation. For western musicians, Indian music seems very daunting, but you have eased my mind significantly. Thank you so much. Brilliant, brilliant job. Your voice is magnificent. Peace and Blessings to you.

Great to hear such lovely words from you as a western Music maestro Sir. She is really doing a great job to promote the beauty of the Indian Classical Music to the world , which is so great that even we Indians do not do justice in appreciating it as much as it deserves because one cannot understand its beauty without having some basic knowledge of Music. And talented people like you appreciating and acknowledging it along with her work is a real reward .

Anuja, I am a classical musician and play the sitar. Had the good fortune to learn from Pandit Ravi Shankarji. I have watched many of your videos and am so impressed by your ability to take a novice on a learning journey from the basics to ultimately the more complex and aesthetic aspects of our music. The simplicity of your style of teaching, perhaps millions of people is a great boon for Classical music. Our family runs many schools in and around Delhi and would be grateful if we could have your consent to use your videos to provide a grounding in music for our students. My daughter runs the Kalyani school in Pune and would encourage her to use your material. You are doing a yeoman service for music. Please keep it up with your 1000 watt smile and wonderful demeanour. My blessings to you. Arun Bharat Ram

India needs more such bright and brilliant youngsters like you :)

here is a person from the western classical music upbringing (heart of europe is where i am from). I am deeply interested in the topic, but from my own experience I know how difficult and longlasting was my education in classical music and I still have to learn and train every day..until the end. So the same probably goes for the Indian class.music. What educated world should do is to preserve everything beautiful that the mankind has discovered/invented. And usually these things are the most complicated to grasp. Simply put, we all need to elevate everyone around us and don't let the idiotization and idiocracy to keep on going big time throughout the planet like a plague. I wouldn't call this westernization. Because there are so many beautiful things in the West, European classical music being the top one of them imho. But trust me that the finances for its preservation are being cut everywhere. And it needs subsidy because it simply cannot survive by itself in the free market. It probably goes for all things classic, no matter the meridian of the globe. There is this globalization thing, especially last 10-15 years to slowly slowly destroy all traditions (everywhere in the world) and things that endured time. That is what we, educated, need to fight constantly, to preserve all the beautiful things that the man has come up about because the ugliness and deformity is taking toll wherever you turn your gaze.

I had been reading on classical music and hearing it here and there, but it was all bits and pieces. Thank you so much for organising it all in form of a mini series. Your explanation is very lucid and enjoyable. The structure in which you have divided the episodes is very intuitve. The plan for delivery of each episode so creative, and execution is spot on. I happen to know some music and can play the Hawaiian & Spanish guitars as well as key-board as hobby. The key sentences in this particular video, according to me are "Music and its basic elements are Universal" and "Music, like food, is an acquired taste". So, with due exposure and conscious effort, one can feel at home with languages, music, literature and food etc., which are not available in immediate surroundings. Keep up the good work please!

Hello, Anuja Kamat. Firstly I would like to express my hearltfelt thanks to you. I am a regular person with no previous knowledge of music. Offlate I have started appreciating the beauty of Indian classical Music and have developed a taste for it. I felt saddened by the fact I had missed an important and beautiful aspect of our rich culture till now. I decided to explore various sources to understand more about Indian music. Being a person with no prior music knowledge I found it very hard to understand material available online. Your channel has opened up my knowledge, now I can appreciate the beauty of the music. Secondly I appreciate your good work, I believe it is a sincere and great effort to preserve our rich heritage. I think you should really be proud of yourself. Thanks again. Keep up the good work. God bless you with Health and prosperity..😊😊
