Hi Diane, I love your videos, partly because they are good, but also I like your eccentric and creative van set-up. I also relate on being an introvert and appreciate you giving us tip on how to self-care and connect in a comfortable way.
That’s my intention arla ✨and … I’m on the setup team and we started setting up today. The welcome gate has changed! Sheesh … and no worries. I’m posting a follow up tomorrow. The only constant is change💜
This video was amazing. It was like the first one that I've ever came across that actually went into detail on what being an introvert can be like. it is the anxiety of the unknown in a new place and how much thought goes into doing something that you haven't done before.
I’m so glad you chimed in @mynomadicdream. And honored it rings true for you too. Not counting the actual Being at an event like this, navigating the details before arrival takes so much energy, I’m often on empty at the front gate. It’s a practice for sure, I’m better at it today than yesterday. And .. I’ve learned every expansion of my comfort zone in small ways has lead to awesome and inspiring experiences. I wish that for you too ✨
Diane, you are a true gift. I arrived at Q last week. Your respect for the rtr and goodness you pour into the world are beautiful to watch. Looking forward to seeing you again this year.
Thank you Donna! And please make sure I know it’s You when we meet. I’m 99.5% sure I’ll recognize you, but connecting this comment, to seeing you in person (and maybe even recognizing you) … whelp, it would make my life so much easier if you could bring me up to speed when we meet.✨💜✨💜✨cuts to the chase and leaves more time for hugs. 🚐🐕see you soon!
@CultivateLife. I was in a few of the group sharing exercises you led as part of the rtr last year. I will definitely reintroduce myself to you when I see you. Soooo many people there to remember. I totally feel that.
Thank you❤This is so helpful for introverts, ADHD and everyone else. I hope to meet you, a storm is crossing my path so I will pause and arrive late but now I already feel checked in❤
Happy to hear it’s helping you as you navigate to e weather. I’m on the set-up team and we started setting up today. Turns out the welcome entrance has changed locations from the last 2 years. Opps! And I’m publishing a redo tomorrow. Nothing drastic, but Sheesh! The only constant is change. I keep learning that over and over🎶safe travels, see you soon.
Thank you for this post! I’m a relative newbie (6 mo full time in a minivan), and was looking forward to attending my first RTR, but the projected crowds in addition to the forecast low temps dissuaded me. Maybe next year.
Diane, you are charming and THANKS SO MUCH for doing the introvert’s guide to the RTR. This year (2024) I am breaking away from my “stopped” life and am about to begin my “moving” life (in a van). So next year (2025) will be my time for the RTR… and I’m looking forward to it!!!
Than You Dana✨I’m getting that you see that as a good thing? Hope so. I’m here to support, not spoil things for people ✨💜✨are you planning to attend? If so, and you see me, please say Hi🎶🦋
This RTR helps so many people in all walks of life that may or may not be living in a car, van, rv, or nowadays, you name it modes of transportation. It's like everyone wins! From the organizers to the attendees, this yearly gathering is the most perfect reciprocal event to come along in ages. My only suggestion: Let RTR stand for Rubber Traveler Rendezvous. Sounds better.
I agree wholeheartedly Joann. The RTR’s are a Labor of Love for all involved. And I’m venturing a guess that most use the initials when speaking of the event. So I’d say since the initials are the same, you could change the name when you reed RTR cuz you like it better. Win-Win-Win! ✨💜✨
@CultivateLife. Yes, this event serves so many men and women. My idea for RTR is to replace the middle name usage in that phrase, considering the negative connotations it carries when referring to a woman, or women. In the same way, if a woman originally thought to call this event something that had a negative connotation on men. Just because no woman has brought this up for discussion before doesn't mean it's too late to do so now.
I am so glad you took the time to clarify Joann. Because I learned you are as mindful as I am about the impact of our words. So many commonly used words are charged with deep negative roots, and other traditionally uplifting words have been co-opted and used as weapons to repel community connection. Other words need expanded definitions to line up with the expansion of human thought. I am actively, as-it-feels-safe-to bring-up-this-perspective-in-conversation, sharing my thoughts about the nuances and impact of the words we toss off in conversation. Some times I have the heart space to do it. And sometimes I don’t. Because in most cases there’s so much more going on, I know my words will not be heard. I’m not here to connect with humans who aren’t making an effort to consider how their words impact me. Instead, I’m here to support the courage of others who do consider the impact of their words. Teamwork Let’s the Dream Work. And really, aren’t we all living in some kind of dream? So with this new info from you, I’d like to revise my words. What you are suggesting is a good idea to presence. In the HOWA organization, I am a worker bee within it. I’m not privy to the incredibly intricate planning that takes place to create a safe place for travelers to learn how to live outside. And, I know there’s always an openness for new ideas. What I’d suggest is emailing HOWA to express your perspective. Hearing it more than once, from many people, is the way to effect change. Thank you Kindred Spirit. I’m glad you’re out here talking about this stuff too✨
Hi Vangela! Big smiles over here. I was hoping you’d make it back here and most definitely would like to visit. Just mentioned Monti to Imogene, she’s up for a play date too🐕🐕Are you planning to visit the RTR’s? Will you be here the 19th or 20th?
I haven't made it to an RTR yet, sigh, and I won't be able to this year but I will one day! (I'm a caregiver for my elderly parents plus I managed to get the flu) hope you have a wonderful time Diane, love and light!
Yes you will MsVintage. I have been in your shoes. At the time the days seemed long and repetitive, but I found the more I was able to dance with it, the better everyone felt💜sending a bouquet of love and light to you Kindred Spirit. All in perfect timing. And it sounds like you’ve got good rhythm 🤪let’s dance! ✨🎶
Been on the road since February 2012. I'm from Phoenix and have only been out to Quartzite once.......out of ALL the beautiful places in Arizona WHY does everyone want to flock to Quartzite is beyond me. SOOOOOO many better and much more beautiful places people could go in AZ. I guess if you are new to the lifestyle then the RTR may be beneficial. But not for me, too many people and ugly landscape , but hope it goes well ❤
Hi FreeNow the intention of the RTR’s IS to teach interested people new (or curious) about mobile living. Quartzsite fills the need for a safe venue with lots of free open desert close by to practice camping for a couple of weeks. The event also encourages responsible stewardship of the beautiful, remote lands we nomads get to travel, and often get to camp for free. This helps keep the beautiful places beautiful for us right now AND future travelers. I’d say that’s a win-win for all of us. That’s how I roll. How about you?
Wow....my point was , which seemed clear, is that there are nicer places in Arizona than Quartzite . I didn't say "flock to the RTR ' , I said " flock to Quartzite" . Many people go there just for winter and never go to the RTR. I am very familiar with the RTR and it's functions. And considering I am from Phoenix, Arizona, also clearly stated in my comment, and a veteran nomad, as well as being well traveled for 44 years PRIOR to my full time nomad life, I know there are other prettier places in Arizona than Quartzite for winter. The RTR has really grown so as far as amount of space for that event, Quartzite accomodates. And as I also said, the RTR may be beneficial for new people. However you should not have to tell people to behave properly and not trash the lands and nature. But considering most people are DUMBED-DOWN, inconsiderate and without concern for others I guess you need an event to relay that message. Have a lovely day ☺️
Hi Marilyn. You’ve asked a question that is at the heart of the WRTR ‘s gathering. And that is the opportunity to meet other women to camp with. First, I would say the following out loud (and every time you notice you’re feeling worried about this) … “Whatever I Want, Wants Me” Then, I would suggest you place a notice and your contact info on the bulletin board at the WRTR. While you’re posting your notice, look around at other notices. Other women will also be looking for places to camp with women. Check back now and then, it’s an active area. ✨Let me know how it goes🎶🫶
