The worst heresy pushed in Amoris laetitia is the one that says that God sometimes positively wills that couples stay in a state of objective, public sin. This is impossible.
Listen to what the late Fr. Gregory Hesse had to say about the SSPX and the crisis in the Church. He was a traditional priest who worked with the SSPX. Especially in Germany and Austria.
My niece, here in Portugal, told me she was taught in catechism class 'when you go to confession, confess those sins you know you feel strong enough to not fall into again, or those that you are really contrite. Those you can't get over, leave out'. Her mother is a catechist.
I am sure it's only one example among millions. The harm that has been done to the Church since Vatican II. I mean, priests aren't even being taught Latin.
@@od8401 Human beings are complex creatures and you do them no favor by telling them that they can aim as low as their conscience allows them to. Confession is a sacrament and as such, teaching children that you don't really need to take it that seriously is the surest way to make them lose respect for it altogether. Get right.
@@sr.e.9136 I’m telling them to take it MORE seriously. It shows a lack of consideration that you would apologize to someone when you suspect you’re going to transgress against them again. Same goes with our Father
Giving communion to adulterers has been done since the 1980s back in my country in Latin America. I remember hearing about it in my teens and was scandalized by it. This is why Francis "allowed" it. They have been doing it for 40 years now and no one did anything back then.
It is so sad and disturbing that we even have to be having these conversations on where we we go to Mass if.... because of the transgressions in our own Church. Not our Church, but Christ's Church 😢
I am still technically a catechumen, after more than seven years of studying and praying. I did not finally come to the decision to fully enter the church until two years ago, at which point my husband and I realized this will be a long road for us since he will have to get his previous marriage annulled. I have already done RCIA, twice. Not gonna lie, there is definitely a bit lacking in that process. In any case, I have chosen Mary Magdalene as my confirmation saint, and our kids baptisms are in the works. My husband is not fully invested for himself, but he is fully on board for our kids and because he sees how important it is to me. We do attend a Novus ordo, but I’m so thankful that our father is much older and does things as traditional as he can. I guess I’m just painting a picture for y’all to ask you to please pray for our family 🙏🏼❤️ I’ll be praying for y’all.
The language of the Church is Latin. Thus everything is first properly put in Latin, and tgen translates to English or French or Russian or whatever is the vulgar of the local. So the Ordo is in Latin, it is a permission that it be in tke local language
RE: Byzantine I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, Anthony. Like a person new to the TLM, you've got to commit to a few consecutive Divine Liturgies if you're trying to make an informed decision, but... I started going to Divine Liturgy in the Albany Diocese bc Howard Hubbard was Howard Hubbard and so were most of the parishes in his jurisdiction, and the NYArch was moving and closing and moving and closing their TLMs in that area of upstate NY. At DL, I discovered how much Novus Ordo catechesis was a lie. Kneeling. Married cCergy. Prayers of the Faithful. Communion Under Both Kinds. ALL of that and more has been manipulated by NO catechists to make us think we ought to love what the new Mass is bc the Byzantine also do it. Nope. Really, though. Try. It is intense. And beautiful. (Though they have some of their modernist priests here and there as well... who try to be like the NO West.) The singing is difficult in the beginning if you are a singer. It uses different muscles in the mouth and throat than Gregorian chant does. Want to talk about an intense Advent and Lent? Wow.
It's really important to lremember (in the case of ppl who are that old) and to research (in the case of ppl who are not) the pop moral theology of the 1970s and 1980s. What Pope Francis is advising and his rationale for doing so has literally already been done. It's not mysterious or confusing in any way whatsoever. It was taught in the 70s and 80s, corrected to a certain point since then, and now that those who did the correcting are DEAD, you're witnessing the push to enshrine what was nonchalantly brought in the first time. That's how you can tell that we aren't living in a time - in the case of modernists OR trads - where we are coming up with anything new. Not that OUR discussion here is not needed - it is. I think we just need to remember it's ok to take the bad actors for what they are.
Is a confession valid if the priest just says " I absolve you of all of your sins... Father, Son and Holy Spirit " and skips over the "in the name of.." ??
The thing with love bombing girls is that it comes off as desperate. Even if you are desperate, you can’t act it lol. Everyone wants someone who other people want too, but will commit to them. You’re giving away the game that you have no game if you’re acting like the person you just met is your one option
My goodness. I checked her out. Is she a troll or for real? It’s difficult to tell these days. Someone wrote a comment about that Catholic wife, Deena. Just saying “ I know her and Mass has given her peace/ nice stuff. Ordinary Catholic shot back like,” EXACTLY! That PROVES she has made an IDOL of the Mass. it’s so over the top. I will never watch her again. She’s Megan Markle level. Just/ no attention for you
What can the public do? Make certain you have perfect contrition every single time because you can’t be 100% sure it’s even a priest you’re confessing to. Our shepherds are hirelings. Many haven’t a care for your soul.
I am a priest and no way will I apply what Francis is saying. The official teaching on the matter is explained by the Council of Trent which state. NOTHING THAT FRANCIS STATES OFF THE CUFF. A PRIEST HAS TO PAY NON INTENTION TO SUCH OF THE CUFF. THE PRIEST CANNOT FLOWOW FRANCIS' ERRORS. THE PRIEST EXPOSES HIMSELF TO COMMIT MORTALBSIN.BTON.
Up to the first 5 or 6 centuries of the church only apostasy, adultery and murder had to be confessed. The penitent was publically shamed and had to do protracted public penance. Private penance was introduced later. So tradition was changed and can be changed.
How do you square your ridgedness in forms of absolution with the extremely fluid development of said forms for the first millennium or so in the Church?
So what making it stricter just leads credence to Protestants saying Catholic life is a treadmill of never being at peace with God always having to jump hoops and never know. Going to a priest is a thing in and of itself. Any Catholic should be able to go to confession. Give me a break. This is really just Catholic rule watchers trying to be scholarly. I’m starting to like Pope Francis when o hear this stuff all the time. I envy evangelicals they must have a lot of weight off their back.
There’s a great book by St Teresa of Avila called the Interior Castle. She begins the book with this concept of the butterfly that finds no rest in this world until it comes to its final resting place. Which for us is complete unity with God. Until that happens we will wrestle with our sins and our failures and daily temptations from the devil. And only through frequent confession, reception of the Eucharist and meditation on the word of God will we endure this trial on earth. Once saved, always saved, we can do no real wrong and shouldn’t have contrite hearts has never been Catholic teaching. It’s difficult but Christ calls us to this trial.
Romans 3:22 KJV “even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by His grace (free gift) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God has set forth to be a propitiation (CHRIST crucified in our place for the forgiveness of all sin) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus.
@@paulthomas955 I am a priest and king of the true Church which is spiritual and consists of believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit. See 1 Peter 2 for a good description of the Church and believer's standing with GOD. I also have the authority to inform you according to the Word of GOD if your sins are retained or remitted just like any true believer. No person can forgive or retain sins. GOD alone does that. If you still think you have unforgiven sin which call for the death penalty then you deny CHRIST dying on the cross shedding HIS real blood and giving HIS real body in your place for the forgiveness of sins once for all. Therefore, I'm informing you that your sins are retained which if you think about it even you admit it when you think you still have unforgiven sins and you don't know where you would go if you died right now. Read John 3:14-18 KJV. You need to repent and believe the gospel.
