It's literally the Stillworld vibe. I wish more people could appreciate their older stuff too UPD: since this comment expectedly blew up, I want to use this opportunity to tell more people, "Stop living the lie, existing just because you can..." Whoever reading this - if you are new to Invent Animate, and all you have heard from them is "Heavener" or "The Sun Sleeps, As if it never was", please do yourself a great favor and dive into their whole discography!! You'd better respect your surroundings:D
Everchanger and Stillworld are both gems. Half-life and Luna are complete masterpieces, and Heavener and Everchanger are actually both in my top 5 favorite albums of all-time. Really shows how talented and creative this band is. Ben was incredible, but Marcus has brought this band to a whole other level with his phenomenal voice. I just cherish every song these amazing dudes release.
@@ihaveafettfetish9348 Exactly! It's important to cherish them because they do really deserve it a lot. Since this year it is gonna be a 10-year anniversary of Everchanger, I hope they have Ben back on a feature or something. It would be legendary 🙈
I’m gonna say False Meridian is my favorite of theirs, the breakdown and ending sections will be heralded as some of the greatest work in the history of metalcore.
I feel like Marcus found his voice in greyview, TSSAIINW, and heavener and now he’s just running with it. would not be surprised if invent animate blew up even more this year than they did last year
The album is structured perfectly. To go from False Meridian to Reverie to Immolation of Night is such a blast. The album is just a complete masterpiece for me. Love every bit of it.
I was kind of on the fence with the album before the song Heavener came out. I was already familiar with IA from past releases but I just wasn't vibing with the album when it first came out as I was in Sleep Token brainrot and they had my undivided attention. But then the song Heavener came out and it blew my MIND, then the album finally clicked and it became one of my favorite albums from last year, and I rediscovered all their older stuff. IA Forever!
@@MisbegottenFoolI think your taste falls into more ballady stuff lmfao. I feel bad you didn't vibe with the album, but hopefully you'll end up having a change of heart with it someday.
@@skudgyy So. I wanna say this as nice as I can cuz I hate youtube comment drama and I really don't wanna start anything like that here. 1. Please re read my comment, you will notice that what I actually said was that I INITIALLY did not vibe with Heavener (The Album just to clarify), I eventually grew to love the album and let me be clear it was in my top 3 albums of last year. The song Heavener, while is may be softer than the rest of the record was the first thing I truly fell in love with to the point where I instantly knew it was one of the best metalcore songs I had ever heard. At that point I knew I had to give the album another chance and songs like Without A Wisper, False Meridian, Purity Weeps, and Elysium hooked me. 2. I've been listening to the heavier side of metalcore for years going back to 2016, I first heard IA in 2018 so they've been on my radar for quite some time and In the past I've enjoyed songs like Soul Sleep, Halcyon, and The Sun Sleeps, it just happens to be that a couple years ago I needed to hear more than just breakdowns, so I went exploring different genres like Prog, Shoegaze, alternative, a bunch of different stuff because I felt that metalcore was becoming stale (for me personally) and I just needed a break from the scene. 3. Then theres Sleep Token, I really don't care about "TikTok This, oh they suck, mid token, they aren't real metal, blah blah blah" They are exactly what I was looking for at the time and have made some of the freshest music in the scene because they don't care about genre's or elitists who have shittier tastes then when I was 14. I overlooked Heavener because at the time I compared it to what Sleep Token was doing and it didn't interest me as much because at the time I felt Sleep Token had more to offer. In retrospect I realized the flaw in this thinking and came to the conclusion that it's fine that it wasn't Take Me Back To Eden because at the end of the day, Sleep Token is Sleep Token, and Invent Animate is Invent Animate and that's fine, they each are different and distinct from one another but are both incredible bands and when Heavener clicked for me I fell in love with it. 4. Nothing wrong with a ballad my friend. Ballads are the shit. Peace ✌️
Deep cut, but Vacant off Stillworld is the Invent Animate track i revisit most often. The opening guitar always gives me chills, it creates such a perfect atmosphere of silent contemplation and lonliness. Then you're shoved into a driving riff and lyrics talking about feeling powerless and walked over that really resonates with me on a personal level. Its a very special track for me that embodies why i love this band.
The addition of the bit of emtion at 3:04 was an interesting surprise for me, haven't really heard that out of IA. Reminds me of the kind of emotion slipknot gives in a lot of their music, but it's so different at the same time, I really like it.
This song and Keeping Secrets by FFAK could very well already be my songs of the year. Both of them had me hooked from the first play and really sitting down and listening to sleepless deathbed reminded me a lot of my first IA experience when i sat down and watched the whole 10 minute the sun sleeps video. Not because i think they sound the same, but the experience of just being caught in the music and the video, feeling so many things at once is incredible. Favorite IA is hard, but due to the fact most of my favorites already got a lot of mentions, i'm gonna say Halcyon (so different but yet soooo good) and Shapeshifter (my boi garret killed it on this one)
Halcyon is such a good one. It really really captures everything that was brilliant from Stillworld but with Marcus in vocals. That's a special one for sure.
@@JesseGinman-tc3cewow thats actually a W list ngl😂 ngl tho Before I Turn are fell off tho, new songs sound like they were made on garageband and the fact they made false promises with their releases is quite sad, even tho they are only two people, their quality is just not there anymore. Currents new album is good and all, but they need to expand on that sound and evolve more from it, draw it influence from old work with TPIFS, and TWIE, while also bringing in new ideas.
@@ThatsAGoodB0y I absolutely love Currents new album. I think it's a masterpiece. The lyrics and themes are top tier for me by I do understand how you could feel the way u do but I'm obsessed with Currents and everything they do. Just seen them live few weeks ago
@@JesseGinman-tc3ce its just because i’ve been a fan since TPIFS and it feels like this new album is a complete change of sound so i need some more from them to get used to it, all of their previous sounds true to a specific sound but this new album is truly different in a lot of ways, it sounds a lot more like your stereotypical metalcore which i don’t mind but i wish they would find a way to make this sound as their own unique way. They’ve also cut down on their unique guitar work and it seems like their songs are a lot more “low end” driven, they used to have a lot of weird alien noises that made their guitar work stand out, but now they write more rock sounding riffs like Unfamiliar. Drum work is also kinda lack luster, ive heard this from a hand full of people. The album is great and all and Brian sounds better than ever, but im hoping they find the pacing with this new sound and bring it more to life.
Favorite song from them is like a 5-way tie between Luna, False Meridian, Reflection Room, Secret Sun, and Dead Roots. Runner ups would be Eden, Indigo, Half-Life, Without a Whisper, and idk the entire rest of their discography. Literally can’t choose. Native Intellect is like the only song they’ve ever made that doesn’t do much for me (for some reason).
I think it absolutely fits on heavener, and it’s also lumped in with the heavener single on spotify, so I’m hopeful for a deluxe. Just because Heavener and Reverie are such different songs from all the others, I have an open mind of it fitting in, possibly with another song or two to tie everything together
Killer track. It's actually really hard for me to pick a favorite Invent Animate song honestly. I really like a lot of their songs. Monarch is up there, as is Luna, Shade Astray and many others.
Heavener is definitely my fav invent animate song, but false meridian, reverie, and immolation of night are also up there. Outside of heavener i do really like shapeshifter. I have a feeling this song is also gonna be one of the best on the deluxe edition of heavener though.
"As you know from this past year, I'm a Invent Animate fan.", man pfft, past two years at least haha. This song's structure is fresh. It didn't grab me, until that breakdown hit, oh man. That encapsulates the song's unique style. His melodical vocals I always so enlightening, so good.
I haven't paid that much attention to Invent Animate before but this song definitely made me go check out their entire discography. definitely one of my favs especially the chorus
I wasn't really sold on this track on the first couple of listens, but it's the only thing I've listened to since it dropped. It has a unique creepy atmosphere to it with the heaviness and Marcus' feral sounding screams, and it has elements of both old and new IA. I agree that it's super confusing on first listen, but MAN did it grow on me in no time. I'd now say it's on par with most of Heavener. As for QOTD, there's so many but it's between Dark, As If It Never Was and False Meridian for me.
Its insane how Heavener was my album of the year and not even three weeks into 2024, Invent Animate may have released my song of the year. Though Heavener is comprised of nothing but phenomenal tracks, Purity Weeps is the song that sold the album for me as not just album of the year, but album of the past few years.
It's hard to pick 1 fave from IA, If we are talking about the Marcus era I'm gonna say either False Meridian or Heavener, but if we're talking about the Ben era then I'll say Soul Sleep.
The first thing I really enjoyed from IA ever since they released Greyview. Unlike a lot of people, I did not enjoy their last album that much. But this, now this is exactly what I expect from them) A certified banger! And a very cool surprise too!
I see this as a really cool development on both their latest album and the previous. This one sounds like it could be off greyview with some of the more new production elements from heavener. Awesome song
It's got the most beautiful, melancholic but happy breakdown out there. And almost danceable, upbeat, saw-like sounding verses. And the build-up in the second verse! And the catchy, soothing, lullaby-ish chorus!! It's amazing.
Tough to pick a favorite from these guys, it's between White Wolf, Hollow Light or Without a Whisper for me. I love the blend of old and new in this track, it just adds to the evolution of their sound. 🔥
I think releasing new music while you have hype is a genius strategy to capitalize on the attention. It’s gonna require somewhat of a double release but that’s fine. If the music’s good it’ll work. To answer the question Without a whisper is without a doubt my favorite followed shortly behind As if it never was, and White Wolf.
I thought this song was decent on first listen, after playing it non-stop I'm in love. I'm loving some of the older Invent Animate vibes but with Marcus' vocals! I'll do my top IA songs by album because I can't pick just one Courier Celestial Floods Cloud Cascade Elysium and Heavener because it's just so damn good as a single
you seemed very into the track, i mean your reaction said not me lol, its an amazing track all around from Marcus Vik to the drummer this shit SLAPS !!
By the way, your title has a typo! It should be "Best band in history" instead of "Invent Animate". It's unnecessary to name them explicitly. Everyone should know what's up :)
I hear old IA in the chaotic rhythms but to me the riff in the verse fits perfectly on Heavener. It sounds like the Labyrinthine riff. Wouldn’t this likely be a Heavener B-side? Could we be getting a Heavener deluxe version?
It's so hard to choose a favorite from them, but I'd go with either Heavener (the single), As If It Never Was, Purity Weeps or Cloud Cascade. This new song definitely sounds more like something that could've been on Greyview. I think I'm bound to love whatever these genius' put out but the ending structure did feel a bit weird.
It's impossible to choose a favorite, it's a toss up between Shade Astray, False Meridian and Heavener. Overall I'd probably say Shade Astray since that's stuck around the longest and I still listen to it as if it just came out, but they're all equally loved by me
