I'm an elementary school teacher in Canada. Every Friday I have a music appreciation period showing music genres and musicians from around the world with my class, about half of whom are Indian immigrants or the children of immigrants. A few weeks ago I introduced my class to this band and they absolutely loved them!
Random white dude is Karl Rock. German(?) travel vlogger and metal fan. The old guy playing the harmonium on the subway is, if my eyesight hasn’t failed me, Subir Malik of one of India’s oldest rock bands still touring (Parikrama).
Love Bloodywood! They did what all us Indian bands before them couldn't. But we've been around. 25 years now, us, Kryptos, Gutslit, Godless, Zygnema, Bhayanak Maut and many more. We're all stoked to see Bloodywood succeed! If you wanna dive into Indian metal now you know where to start!
Good to see you're happy for them. A lot of Indian metal bands hate them and call them pretenders. Most probably jealous of their success. I believe, as an international language band, in order to be successful you've to bring something new. You've to be unique and that's why Bloodywood is getting all the recognition.
Fun fact: It wasn't a Steadicam guy for those shots. They were able to have a drone operator come in to do all of the close shots at the fort location of the video. They shared that in a behind the scenes clip on their Patreon (which through their supporters on there they were able to afford the drone cam and they gratefully thank their supporters for everything they do and have done to help them get to where they are now).
So true!!!!!!!!! Jayant is my fave singer since OG Sepultura's Max Cavalera - both have such brilliant harsh vocals, both so heavy but able to be understood. Love it!
when the song ends, the guy says "aaja Karan ho gya record!" which means "Karan come back, we're done recording!" (Karan Katiyar is not only their guitarist, but their music video director as well!)
Seeing you unknowingly tear up hearing them shows how proud you (and we) are of their achievements! I, first getting to know them through "Jee Veerey" just feel them as my own people, even though i never met an Indian person ever :D
Well, you did it again, Tank. Another band I had no idea existed that I'm going to have to check out now. Getting my horizons broadened on this channel and I love it.
It would be so sick if you can get them back on the podcast. I would love another interview with them! Also i didn't know how much i missed the long form reactions from ya, but this was a pleasant return.
Well that was a surprise. I was hoping for a reaction to this banger but a full on "old school" and not the twitch reaction was a nice surprise. Also I already ordered my ticket for Berlin the moment they opened early access on their Patreon. Can't wait for it
I seen them last year here in Glasgow Scotland, it's still in my top 3 best gigs I've been to, and hands down the most crazy mosh pit I've been in, and when I say the whole crowd was moshing, I mean EVERYONE, I've never seen a band be able to bring out that much energy from a crowd before, and it was fucking magical. And to my surprise, they're playing here again in March, I woke up so early to buy tickets, and they're incredibly cheap, last year I think they were around £18, this time they're only £20, plus fees, which is INSANELY cheap in my opinion, I could honestly justify paying double to see them, they're that fucking good, do yourself a favour whoever is reading this, and see this band live, it's one of the best shows you'll be apart of, I can promise you that! 🤘🖤
Thanks Tank for introducing me to this. Sounds really great. I give, as recommended, their last album a try, and if it holds up - concert tickets will follow.
Hearing Eluveitie in the back ground at the start of the video caught me off guard. I had no idea you knew who they were! BloodyWood released another banger for damn sure. I cant wait to see what the album is going to be like!
Sadly Italy is slowly disappearing from the world and european tours. And i hate this thing. Luckily Bloodywood will do one show in Milan, and i will be there, at all costs! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
I already bought 2 tickets to the concert in Oslo!! I even got my coworker who has never heard of this band before to join! I just asked him if he want to see Bloodywood, he asked what kind of band it was, and i said Indian metal and he he replied with hell yeah lets go.
I usually don't watch reaction videos, but I've seen at least three since this video dropped, and in every single one, there is an unmistakable look of joy on their faces...including yours!
As always, it's good to see you, Tank, and I hope you're well 8^) I've been rocking to Bloodywood since "Mundian to Bach Ke Rahi" and "Tunak Tunak Tun" (the story behind that original tune is awesome). I'm SO HAPPY these guys made it. They truly deserve it. Peace 8^)
I discovered them with Tunak Tunak Tun, too. And I've been following them ever since. Got to see them in Baltimore for the Nin Inch Naans tour. That show was insane! I can't wait to see them again.
I LOVED their album Rashak but fuck me i loved how hard this went in!! Never used to like music with other languages in it but since diving more into music in the past year i've grown to appreciate it more even tho i don't know what they are actually saying i can enjoy it so much more, wow what a vibe!! Gona have to look at tickets for the gig in birmingham uk (only an hour from me where i live now) also as a scotsman to see them playing SWG3 in glasgow that is epic, amazing venue for a gig and one very sought after by alot of artists that arent at big venue level yet!
I found them almost by accident- I got "tu Jeet veeray" suggested to me in my feed and I loved them ever since. I've been saying for years that international metal bands deserve more love from the western audience. Names like "Ningen Isu" and "Alien Weaponry" are huge in their own countries but are just now beginning to get recognition in America- that's a crime. There's a ton of good metal out there waiting for you to find it and no, you don't need to know the words, a lot of the time (Besides being subtitled) the music itself conveys the feeling of the song well enough to gain an understanding.
Its kinda funny for knowing this bands for years now since their first music video, people now start to talking about Bloodywood becoming the next big thing😅 The boys really deserve to become big
I've been listening to Bloodywood for a while now (thanks RU-vid for recommending them to me). I think they are great and will continue to listen to them. It's great to see you cover them here and love your reaction as I completely agree. First Hu, now Bloodywood.
The song is amazing and your excitement is contagious! I'm really happy that you broke your hiatus for them and I'm super happy for these guys, too, one of my favorite bands, sound-wise, lyric-wise, pun-wise and just in general. Also it's great that they put their lyrics in the video itself so we don't have to deal with RU-vid's garbage. Very much looking forward to buying the album!
I found these guys fairly recently because I went around looking for bands around Polynesia and the Oceanic territories; I found Gadaar and I was hooked.
These guys are incredible. The song is a banger and the music video is sick. I absolutely adore the shot of Jayant hanging out if the vehicle just spinning around, ehehe
Was kickass seeing you rock out, Tank, and thanks for the info on the instruments - damned happy for Karan and Jayant and Raoul and Roshan and the guys for the epic song, massively looking forward to the new album!
Haven't come across these guys before, but these guys are really cool. I love seeing traditional instruments from other cultures transcending into the metal space and it works. Have a lot of respect for this.
I absolutely love Bloodywood. I discovered them in 2019 and loved them right away. I was able to see them in Wacken the same year and they rocked. Then I saw in their documentary that they had only been on stage together a few times before and I found the performance even more impressive. Rarely seen a band with such joy in playing. Can hardly wait for the tour 🤘❤️
Tank! You're the man! I love your content and your passion for music. You're one of the few creators on RU-vid whom I absolutely adore. Godspeed, brother!
Delhi is the capital of India, and New Delhi is the main city (there's also old Delhi). I'm from New Delhi myself and love seeing not just a national representation but even a home state representation. It's a wild city, for some wrong and really bad reasons (won't articulate here) but also for many solid reasons (the community, the diversity, the street food). Also more and more props to Jayant, doesn't get enough credit. The bollywood style Hindi vibe with consistent natural Punjabi undertone and easily switching between them - chef's kiss.
Great video dude, I’ve heard the bands name before but never heard any of their music. Definitely gonna have to check out the rest of their stuff, this song was awesome! Also the puns are just the icing on the cake! 😂
Bloodywood was already in my radar as I had heard some of their earlier stuff. This song did the rare thing of giving me chillbumps. So now, imagine a rather seasoned woman sitting in front of a computer knitting (sic) and getting chillbumps from an Indian metal band...
Looks like you've introduced me to my birthday present a month early. And around this time last year you introduced me to Electric Callboy after YT put your Hypa Hypa reaction in my feed when I'd watched a few AC/DC reaction videos. This has been a fun rabbit hole so far!
I'm on Bloodywood's Patreon, and they've posted videos of how the process of getting signed to a label has gone. They have really taken their time with this process to make sure they don't get screwed over (I'm sure Karan having a background as a lawyer has something to do with that). I've no doubt their choice of label was deliberate and measured. Edit: And they also posted behind the scenes footage of them making this video- yes, they did use a drone, at one point flying it in between Karan's legs!
Bhangra feelings! This is great, thanks for a new favorite. New Delhi - I was there for a few hours, coming up from Jaipur to the airport what I remember is horrible air pollution over the city. Wild wild east, love it!
Their production is incredible. They put in these fantastic little sonic anomalies that just make it that much better. First new band I've absolutely loved in probably fifteen years.
RU-vid mix introduced me to them a few months ago. They've been a part of my work playlists since. I work from home and often long hours so metal is great for keeping my energy up for 11 hour or longer days.
Also this video is a homage to all the known musicians from Delhi. Youll find them throughout the video here and there. Indian people will know who they are while watching the video. Basically people who make the delhi metal scene. Band members from Parikrama, Undying Inc and Hip Hop artist Seedhe Maut.
Let's gooooo! High expectations after Rakshak, especially now that they did sign. I do wonder how much Karan will still want to do (or need to) on the production side.
My first Bloodywood song was "Aaj", and I love it .. went straight into my personal playlist! Since this I forgot to check for any new releases .. thanks for reminding me! 😅
These guys are LIONS!! From start to where they are now, Im really fkn proud that 1 band can have this reach by puur passion!! 10:30 Karl Rock 11:50 Fing 11:56 Encore ABJ
I discovered them with your previous reactions, and it might be one of my favourite discovery They have this vibe, awesome, love the way they embrace the culture with an indian sound really nicely incorporated in more traditional metal sound
Just a thing for future videos. Space Bar only stops and starts the video if you have the right parts of the player selected. Pressing "K" on the other hand will stop and start a video from wherever you are on the site.
I ust love how heavy yet positive they are. I get pumped every time I listen. And speaking of feels, man I played Jee Veeray for her and she teared up. Said we're going to that show! Lyrics hit hard.
This song sounds similar to Ari Ari yet like you said thats their signature sounds and i can’t wait for their next songs. Cause the desi boys’ll always know diversity’s a gift. 🔥
If unknown to me metal bands were like new drugs, you’re my dealer! This after House of Protection, 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!!!!!! I was just into the Orbit Culture binge which led me to you way back Tank.
