i soooooo hate it when I try to record my bands and get background talking !!! In my mind - competition is like a concert and one should use 'concert manners'.

The only thing is though...it isn't a concert. It's a day out for alot of people to have that background playing heard and for them to have a gab, a drink and a good time. If you want a concert environment then go to a concert. It's a pipe band competition and the folk going in don't need wee authoritative polis type behaviour of "am trying to record this so you must be silent" They are in public and what they are doing isn't unlawful. Get the pair of drumsticks oot yer keich hole.

Turn round and tell them to shut up and just listen nothing as bad as some arseholes talking just for the sake of it 😡

Absolutely loved this…as usual, Inverary pushing the envelope with innovative ways of how to improve their scores and stand out…opening attack was genius, high tempo, everything super clean both pipers fingering and the drum corps along with the bass section who always make it an occasion to watch these guys, superb

Absolutely f**King amazing......dynamic, full of pulse, drive and perfect execution, superb finger work, subtle yet dynamic ensemble, first time I've heard this and already I'm convinced this medley is a worlds winner. Couldn't conceive of a medley as a game changer until I listened to this medley, at 2320, 22/6/24. Liddell, and your pipers and drummers, I salute you. Regards Keith Davison

If you want to hear the first band to have drums continue playing after pipes at the end, listen to the YT video "Polkemmett Medley - 1991 World Pipe Band". It's more drumming than this, even.

Nice set. Some good standard tunes played in interesting innovative ways. I like the setting of She moved through the Fair. The only thing I'd question is the little extra snare bit after the pipes cut off. To my ear it muddles the crispness of the ending. Obviously it's only my opinion, but I wonder what the judges thought of it.

I definitely see why you think that. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen. I personally think it’s a bit weird. I personally like to hear nothing after the pipes cut out at the end of a set. I think having that thing after the pipers cut out is extremely risky. The drummers an extremely exposed during that split second as it is only them playing in that moment. I understand that they’re one of the best bands in the world, but they’re not perfect. No one is. If it’s off, that’s a huge blow to their chances of winning. The drumming judge in particular has until the next band competes to think about how good the ending was, or how bad it was. I personally believe it’s both extremely risky and unnecessary to have that little thing after the pipers cut out at the end.

They came 1st out of 4 bands at that competition with a first place from the drumming judge.
