The fact that you can preserve information by disguising it as a fictional story is crazy. If you remember one of the first quests in the game you did was Lisa's story. An abyss mage tried to steal a fairy tale book and it claimed that it contained a very important secret. Most people didn't pay it much mention back in 1.0, but after this quest it recontextualizes things. That book was 'The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies' and we STILL only have 1st volume out of 7. It's fun to speculate on what exactly the book is hiding, I want the other 6 volumes desperately.

I think the way to think of it is that there is no "alternate timeline". History wasn't changed, just the records/memories did. So Scara actually was the one to do all those things, but since he was deleted from Irminsul, people remember it differently. Likewise, Rukkhadevata still did all the things she did, but they're attributed to Nahida now. The vase at the end is meant to illustrate this. This is why the traveler, as a descender, is so important, they can dig up and remember the true history of things. There's a book you can pick up later that also introduces some interesting ideas on time.

Fun fact! When renaming him, he will say some unique responses to certain names! If you name him his old names, like Scaramouche, Balladeer, Kunikuzushi, and Kabukimono, he will say "…Hmph. I have no need for these names anymore." If you name him anything related to Raiden Shogun, like Ei, Makoto, Baal, he will say "This is a bad idea." If you name him any one the playable characters' name, he will say "That won't work." If you name him a Fatui Harbinger's name, he will say "You can't be serious," or "Is this supposed to be your attempt at a joke?" If you give him your name, he actually will accept it and say "You want to share your name with me? Huh, not a bad choice." Due to this unique system, some lore enjoyers actually used this for theories based on the names he rejects and aceepts at that time. For example, the name Zandik, which can be seen in Sumeru side quest, cannot be used (hmmm). If you name him Morax, they game will not even prompt a response from him, it straight up just say "Name Unavailable", which is different from the other Archon name responses. I named my wanderer 翊 (yi) since I play in CN. As an adjective it means "flying" or "tomorrow", as a noun it means "wings", and as a verb it means “to assist.” I feel like it perfectly represented his abilities and his new life, assisting Nahida and finally having a tomorrow to look forward to.

A blue haired Inazuman boy with no family and a cool hat? The decision was easy for me. I named my Wanderer Ruu. We did promise Ruu he’d get to wander around the world with us, after all.

Fun Facts regarding names you can give Wanderer: (People have found ways to circumvent these rules but there are rules to naming him.) 1. You can't name him after playable characters released before 3.7. He responds with "That won't work." 2. You can't name him any of the titles he erased, like Kabukimono and the Balladeer. He responds with "...Hmph. I have no need for these names anymore." 3. You can't name him with the titles of the other Harbingers, like Doctor, Jester, and Knave. He responds with "You can't be serious." 4. You can't name him with the other aliases or known real names of the other Harbingers either, like Rosalyne, Zandik, and Ajax. He responds with "Is this supposed to be your attempt at a joke?" 5. You can't name him after Raiden Shogun related stuff, specifically RaidenShogun, RaidenEi, RaidenMakoto, Beelzebul, and Baal. He responds with "...This is a bad idea." (But you ARE allowed to name him after the demon god names and local god names of most other gods) 6. This one is weird because of multiple things. He doesn't respond to these categories of names. It's the game itself that stops you and just says "Name Unavailable". Names that are under this one are: +Future playable character names (when the version came out) like Kirara, Lyney, Lynette, Neuvillette, and Iansan +Traveler (yeah just that. Aether and Lumine are acceptable names though) +Zhongli's demon god name Morax and his local god name RexLapis (this was the weirdest one and caused people to speculate MANY things about Zhongli, especially since his character story went through the least change of all the changes after Rukkhadevata got wiped from history) If you choose to name him after what you named your Traveler, he allows it and says "You want to share your name with me? Huh, not a bad choice."

I can't believe we're already here! Back when you first saw scaramouche in the unreconciled stars event I commented that I looked forward to your reaction to his arc, and you've somehow managed to exceed my expectations! :D Also getting to see him receive his vision in this quest was just

Very fun facts about our poor baby I need everyone to know about: - The golden feather he wears on his person as wanderer is a gift from Raiden! When he was dropped off on Tatarasuna she left him a golden feather that, in short, is a VIP priority pass to meet with the shogun, if he ever wanted to. - Him and Raiden have matching "tattoos" on the backs of their necks! His is only visible while using his skill (because it's covered by his clothes and it shines through when using his abilities). Raiden has the three thingies that often symbolise Inazuma, and he has the inverse of that, so when combined they create a full circle! - Him and Raiden form the duality from the Japanese myth about Raijin and Fuujin (alternatively spelled Raiden and Fuuten) - gods of lightning and wind respectively.

So happy that you finally know what's basically almost all of Wanderer's current story and how much you feel for the lil guy, he remains as my fav character to this day lol. Also Patrick (Wanderer's VA) is super passionate about the character, I met him a couple weeks ago and we talked for a bit and through it all it was very easy to tell how much he really loves this role he plays as he was getting happy and giddy when we talked about certain scenes he did and what he does to give such a good character the justice he deserves with an equally stellar performance. Truly an amazing person for an equally amazing character

Interesting fact: all voicelines about scara(like childe's or raiden's) are gone after this quest and almost all new characters don't have them too, even arlecchino who is also fatui(which is strange because you can pull her before doing this quest so it's a little sad that she doesn't have anything to say about scara). Also for example kazuha's dad letter that we got from event was changed and there are no mentions of scara in it anymore. But there is one and only new character who was released after this quest and who has voiceline about scara and scara has one about him: it's Sethos🤭And these voicelines are surprisingly cute?(spoiler for voicelines!: scara calls sethos little bee and says he follows him around and sethos says that scara's hat is beautiful and he wants to touch it) So maybe scara already found his new potential friend, plus he has nahida so he is not alone anymore

I have named my Wanderer "Bongohead" Before this quest was out, we had a limited event that was inspired by Pokemon. We captured Fungi, trained them and battled them in a tournament. Our main pokemon in that event story was named Bongohead. Looking at the big round flat hat of the Wanderer, that name seemed fitting 😆

I truly love that we can see Scara earn his vision in this and even by saving Aether. This quest makes me cry everytime. I feel so bad for him. He had to suffer so much. Your reactions to it were amazing, so much emotion. Im glad you noticed all the little details. Scara finally gets his redemption arc. Now he is going to help Nahida and be on the good side. Also I named my Wanderer "Jun Arata" a Japanese name but written in Chinese --Jun means "Pure" and "Arata" meaning "New" to symbolize his "pure new beginnings" as a new person. I wanted to give him one or the other but i couldn't decide so i just used a translator and confirmed the name with my Chinese classmate for correctness ..and there he was. every time i see his name in my Party settings i call him "Jun-Kun". hehe

After the 3.2 update and even more so after inversion of genesis, the idea of a found family dynamic between Scara and Nahida became very popular because of all the parallels the two have. Both were "abandoned" by their creators and had very lonely lives for around 500 years, and only found freedom (Nahida literally and Scara mentally) in the sumeru arc. And also have very complementing personalities: Nahida who is too kind and gentle for her own good, and Scara who is too cynical and bitter for his own good, so they balance each other nicely. Plus, Nahida has always said she's not good at fighting and the Dendro Archon never had a "familiar" to protect her despite how self-sacrificing she is, which attributes to why Nahida woke up alone and afraid, and Scara fills that role perfectly and is very "needed" (for his own peace of mind) by her (plus he's a cat!!). Definitely take a look at the Interdarshan and Simulanka limited time events that he appears in!g

personally id say the moment scara decided to erase himself from irmunsul he redeemed himself. even if someone dies they will still live on in peoples memories, what scara tried to do is the ultimate sacrifice. final death. i feel like he will face dottore in the future and if there is anyone who needs to kill him it has to be scara or at least with his help.

I have been binge watching this series and waiting for this quest and I absolutely loved your reaction to it! It's so nice to watch someone truly understand and love a character like that. Scaramouche his story is truly one of the best in the game. All of sumeru is extremly top tier. He also has appeared in some events which developed his story and relationships.

Wander (Aether), Wanderer (Scaramouche), and Wanderest (Calvin)

Man, I've been waiting for this quest for a LONG time much like so many of us, since the moment you saw Scaramouche/Wanderer and fell in love with his design! As for myself, I named him Makoto after the aunty he never got to know before she passed, but the person he unknowingly shares a LOT in common with; they were both extremely kind, gentle, and caring and gave their own lives to protect the lives of others without a second thought. Its also my theory that the reason he was born with so much tender emotion and that he cried when he was given the gnosis is because he was constructed from Makoto's body, as Ei might've been intending to try and bring back her sister but realized that he had his own consciousness and sealed him away because it was a reminder of her loss. Doesn't excuse her terrible parenting, but I think the idea offers more nuanced perspective as to why she couldn't bring herself to destroy him.

Now he's officially adopted by Nahida, they're a great duo

i named wanderer indivar :) giving him an indian name to symbolize his rebirth and new life in sumeru, with his tragic past slowly becoming, well, the past! and it means blue lotus, which matches his attire and hat :)

And thus, the best found family dynamic was born.

I named my wanderer Kunimitsu which is a spin on the Kunikuzishi, with the difference that his old name means "country's destroyer" and his new one means 'country's light" but i did it only so i can have and excuse to still get to call him Kuni xD

I was initially against Scara having a redemption arc because I felt like it was gonna be done mostly to please the fandom and give them a playable Scara, so I was worried it would interfere with the storyline. But tbh hoyo blew me away with his development. I cannot deny that he is currently one of the best-written characters in this game.

so, to go a little more in depth for lore bits! one of the most important things we learned from this quest is that information written allegorically, as fairy tales or other stories are IMMUNE to Irminsul's tamperings. this key peice of information is what makes so many of the books in the game so important, we have no idea if they are simply fairy tales, or key peices of information about teyvat, hidden and stored in a way that it cannot be erased. every single book can have a hidden meaning, we have no idea. (note: remember one of the first quests you did with Lisa, in which the abyss mage stated there was a secret hidden within the book 'The pale princess and the six pygmies', this is most likely what he was referring to.)

I don't know if you noticed or not, but Scaramouche didn't have Vision and he got an Anemo at the cutscene

I think its incredibly interesting how the story describes dottore, as lamenting his own existence, pitying those who have to be around him, and jealous of scaramouche for being accepted so readily without having to hide. I think it shows a very interesting side to him that we never really see, I'm curious to know more of the monster that pities the victims it catches. (P.S, not defending him clearly, but i just find this characterization of him interesting and want to know more)

I named Wanderer Izumi cause it means spring symbolising new beginning. Though I'm planning on changing it to Makoto

I named my wanderer 'Belial' since it's a name from the ars goetia that's somewhat related to Baal (Raiden). I wanted to give him a name from the ars goetia since all the gods within genshin use names from there and I belive he deserves it :'D

Before jumping into my in-depth analysis on Wanderer's design and inspirations, I'm gonna share the name I gave him: "Niwa Ren". "Niwa", obviously being the surname of Scaramouche's close friend and family, I wanted him to keep that family name. "Niwa" can also be translated to garden and yard, therefore the next half of his name "Ren" is a translation to lotus (among other meanings since kanji is complicated). So why lotus garden? (also excuse the messy writing im doing this off the top of my head) The lotus is a symbol of purity within Buddhism. As the flower blooms on the murky waters, the flower symbolizes rising above worldly suffering and attaining Buddhahood (enlightenment). Scaramouche as a character is one that has a lot of references that surround himself with Buddhism motifs. From the clothes he wears as the Wanderer, the lotus on his hat, the phrases he says as a boss ("the world is pain"); they are all part of the practiced philosophy of the Lotus Sutra. Obviously there are some videos that go more in depth towards his character, but I believe the "suffering" that he went through is a fundamental part of his characterization from a theming perspective. Buddhism is all about worldly suffering and attaining enlightenment by fighting your inner karma. Karma is in reference to Scaramouche's actions in the past, his past life that hurt so many people, that even through reincarnation, Wanderer still needs to live with those consequences. (Understand that there are many different types of Buddhism, I'm just talking about the branch that I am most familiar with.) Scaramouche's Japanese/ Middle-Eastern inspirations arent also out of nowhere. Buddhism spilt into different practices early on in history from India, and the Lotus Sutra (the philosophy that I feel like most embodies Scara's story) is one that found itself to Japan and some parts of China. The Inazuma and Sumera mix nationality I feel was intentional as it is a reflection of the history of the religion and that his journey is what the practice stands for. Obviously with Wanderer's consistent attitude he is nothing like a benevolent Buddha, but you know who is? Nahida! The relationship between master and disciple is also a core principle within the religion and the fact that Wanderer is consistently finding ways to further his enlightenment shows the depth they put into creating his character. So to answer why I named him "Niwa Ren". I love Wanderer's story since I first experienced his quest. Through all the pain he's suffered, karma that he accumulated from his past, and his attempt to redefine fate with reincarnation, he is very much a human character. As human's we are meant to suffer, and through that suffering Wanderer realized how human he is. I inscribed "Niwa" as his surname to remember the family that gave him a heart, and "Ren" as the new reincarnation tasked with repent but also growth to become a better person, freed from the strings that puppeteer him all his life.

Fruit Stand Scaramouche is so pure, like the Kabukimono 🥹

I have a following analogy for how changes in Irminsul works. Imagine a jar stuffed with pebbles, each pebble having its own position and orientation. When one wants to change orientation of some pebble, the orientation of nearest pebbles have to be changed as well to match it - but in the least energy consuming way (the mininal possibile changes). And if some pebble’s position can remain the same (it does not contradict the position of the change piece) - it remains as it was. That’s why fairy tales do not change and thus preserve the information - they do not directly contradict anything, they can be explained as just being fairy tales. And it is easier to just change memories than actual events - so it happens whenever possible. That’s what the voice of N meant - it’s extremely hard to make a change that actually changes the course of events concerning physical objects (too much force needed to move a pebble hold by lots of other pebbles). Well, history books ARE physical objects and are changed anyway - because they directly contradict the new state of Irminsul.

This quest confirmed that all the story books in the game are more than what it seems. Especially the ones written by the Witches

Now we know that fairy tales and allegory could be more accurate than historical documents. Who else has saved knowledge in this way? Remember the book from all the way back in Lisa's quest...the one that supposedly held a hidden secret? What else has been erased from Irminsul? "Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?"

My interpretation is that its a alternate history. Just like how the vase is broken the outcome happens but its how people remember it that's changed. Just like how Rukkadevata's achivements now go to Nahida, the things Scaramouch did, did happen but how it is remembered changed. Irminsul just fills the void in with things that makes sense. And i named him Rei. I just took R from Raiden and then just Ei.

For some reason I can’t cry to this story, even though this is one of the saddest ones I’ve ever seen, but the way he’s been used his whole life is really revolting. The way he understood the world only in a transactional way was so damn sad as well. So rebirth and being forgotten by the fatui, even though twisted, is the best outcome that he could’ve gotten, I’m so happy with how it ended.

That he was made from a white tree might imply that he was literally a construct of ley line trees like Irminsul, which might have explained why Jester and Dotorre decided to get their hands on him.

In Chinese the Visions are called Eye of God and Gnosis is called the Heart of God

Do not worry, you hear this voice first time, there was an event later was revealed the name of the person who this voice belongs to. Some summary in short - only memories have changed, not the reality or past "Unfortunately, the fate of Teyvat cannot easily be changed. Perhaps a god may have a slim chance, but for anyone else... who can say.", everything that was done by Scara was still done by him, but the history, memories of who done it is changed, not the reality. Only once you witness an actual change of the past, in Raiden's quest, and even that, as Miko said in the same quest, most likely was done with help of powers of Istaroth, god of time, the thousand winds of time, god of moments (also mentioned as Tokoyo Ookami and Kairos).

Can I just say... I adore the way you look at him, have looked at him all along. It took Fruit Stand Wanderer for me to truly come to love him, but you've always seen him. Mad respect and my gratitude for that. You're a lovely human being. I also missed Fruit Stand Boy :P But the more you see him after this, the more you'll come to see and realize he's still in there, under the armour. Now that we've seen past it, he can't hide anymore. He's still soft and lovely underneath it all. And he's gradually coming out of that shell. One day we'll get a genuine laugh out of him and it'll be so beautiful. :') I love that you didn't want to give him 'someone else's' name. I had the same feeling. I named him Kintsugi, because I loved who he'd become at the end of the road, after having been broken and mended, and living with all the cracks highlighted in gold as part of him.

The moment you saw him first and fell in love with his arc, I waited for the moment you name him so much! I discovered I could name him a little before playing this quest. So I kept thinking what I could name for the longest time. After experiencing his story here I thought to name him something that would symbolize his new life. He wanted to forget Inazuma traumas, so nothing Japanese. I wanted something to bring Dendro for being adopted by Nahida, and Anemo for the vision granted here. I went with a plant that represents freedom and new dreams. "Dandelion"

Oh yeah oh yeah! Now that you've done this quest, I think lots of voicelines and character stories became available on Vaan's profile. You should check them out if you have the time, for some extra detail and his personal takes and emotions regarding his past. I know they helped me understand him and fall in love with him even more. :')

After this quest, the fandom became paranoid about any fairy tale in Genshin 😅

I've been looking forward to you playing this quest for so long and I'm so glad the day has finally come :D !! wanderer is a character that's very near and dear to my heart and it makes me so incredibly happy to see someone else playing through genshin who feels the same way. I love the way you really take the time to stop and think about charcters, their motivations, their thoughts and feelings so watching you play through this quest was an absolute joy ^^ I'm also someone who feels really deeply for fictional characters so please never apologise for sniffling or crying bcs I'm right there with you lol. Also! I love seeing what people named their wanderers and the thought process that goes into it! I named mine "antares", which is the name of one of the brightest stars and its also known as the "heart" of its contellation (get it?) antares is also a guiding star, so I gave him that name with the hopes that it'll guide him to a brighter future ^^ (and also I think a star-themed name was appropriate since we first met him in game in the unreconciled stars event, so he's always been connected to stars in my brain)

This whole quest for wanderer is a stepping steps or a tease on future of genshin stories. Specially about the nature of time, fate and truth of the teyvat. Like sumeru's archon quest, this blows my mind when this is released.

I have been waiting forever for you to play this quest. This is my favorite character story quest and this was when Wanderer became my 1# favorite character. I wish i came up with a good name for him but i couldnt so i just named him Scara because thats what i would call him all the time. Im still trying to come up with a better name that i really like for him still after like almost 2 years sense his relase but i still haven't found a name i really like for him. Anyway i loved your reaction and understanding of his character especially compared to other people I have watched playing this quest.

Fun fact Roamer, if you had Childe in your team after this quest is complete, his line about the Balladeer completely disappears from his compendium of lines. This one quest alters your game in interestingly irreversable ways. It's astounding.

Lol, i named my wanderer “Scardo” its like a combination of Scaramouche and Cardo (Cardo is a TV show character, a police man, and there’s this joke in the philippines that no matter what stuff he goes through, he just never dies because the show has been airing for like several years now) Alsoo, I cant wait for the "Caribert" archon questt!!!!

Now that you finished this beautiful quest (absolutely loved the reaction. This quest holds a really special place in my heart), you are safe to know that most of the character development for Scara/Vaan after this is kept behind some limited events. These are "A Parade of Providence (Interdarshan Championship)" and "Summertide Scales and Tales (Simulanka)". It's really a shame because the scenes and events that we saw there are pretty important for more lore of his character after the reset of Irminsul and the game in general, but it is what it is... I reaally recommend reacting to those tho. They were really fun and I am sure you'll love it! You are safe to watch " A Parade of Providence" now that you completed this quest, but I think it will be better if you wait to watch the Simulanka one after completing Fontaine. Up to you tho! Just wanted to drop this info, but please do as you please and have fun^^.

Oh, second comment, but something you need to check out before Fontaine! Listen to Wanderer's (I say Wanderer bc I named him Yodaka and that's what he is in my head but Wanderer is what other people with understand) voicelines about each of the Harbringers! What hit me the most is that part when we met the gentle Wanderer, it changed my whole perception of him. When I saw him like that, I couldn't help but wonder, if only those things didn't happen to him, if only his fate had been different, perhaps the first time we meet him would have been different. Perhaps the person we meet would have been the gentle and kind him, an innocent happy person that bear no sins. But alas, there's no such ifs. His sins can't be undone. I just hoped he repented, repent for the people he wronged and at the end, find a way to be happy.

I think we learn two things from this quest: 1) past is not actually changed when you change information in Irminsul and 2) the only way to protect information from Irminsul changes is to put them in a form of a fable. This means that potentially any fable books may have hidden information about past Irminsul changes.

This quest solidifies that Fate cannot be trully avoided in Teyvat. Wanderer is a merge of the snarky brat and the gentle one 😆 I named him Aoi since it is Japanese for blue green

i was choosing name for scara for probably two hours straight. i was googling every beautiful way to relate him to the wind in japanese. i thought to name him something like a “broken soul” or “fragile” or “gentle breeze” and many more. i did quite a big list in my language first, and then tried to translate it with the multiple dictionaries. but then i thought… no… “broken soul” is beautiful but it will literally remind him of what happened every time, who wants to be reminded of horrible things through their name? “fragile” i declined for pretty much same reason, and im not even mentioning that he is not fragile, he’s actually really strong, which i didn’t think about when was doing the list. and many other names i declined cause it was too long, i wanted one word and not really long. and at the end i chose the one. Hanami. it means “to watch the sakura flowers bloom”. im a little sad that i didnt get to name him related to wind, but i named him with the thought of his character development. its like i will watch him bloom and heal from now on. it was perfect ❤

Calvin, now you understand why we're so excited for you to play this particular quest, hahah... I knew that this story wil hit you with feelsss. Very understandable though, i also shed a lot of tears playing this quest. Also i think this is the first quest where we've seen a character receiving a vision for the first time. There's a running joke that all the shorter male character who tragically lost a friend will get an anemo vision, hahah... (Venti, Kazuha, now Scaramouche). Anyway, Scara was abandoned by his mother (Ei), but now he's being adopted by a smart auntie (Nahida). I honestly love their dynamics so much. Now that you've finished this quest i hope you'll watch the Parade of Providence event as well as the last Simulanka Event (i forgot the title).

Signora has a heartbreaking story herself. Sadly its not readily available to uncover. Her story is mostly told through the crimson witch of flames artifact set. Rosalyn as she was previously known as was a sweet woman who's most tragic choice was falling love. Her backstory like scaras explains her now mean and wicked behavior.

i am so glad roamer wasn't spoled on the name changing thing i named mine Мыш wich is an incorrect writing of the word mouse in my language (мышь is the correct one "ь" is a softening letter and not a sound) which was by two main reasons 1) i wanted to name him a cat(on my native lang) bc i love cats and to me any character i like even with other animals motieves are ending up beeing called a cat or a kitten and so on but bc i called everyone what way it would be stupid 2) pretty sure eng fandom also called him scaraMOUSE but i have a fealing ru analog was a bit more popular? tho can't really tell i only interacted with my friends and not any utside parts of fandom. so naming him like a part off his fandom name would be understandable for people who aren't my close friends and would remember a usual name or even for some observant enough ousider i didn't wanna chose a "real name" bc i was afraid i would either cringe or start to hink about him as my oc which would be terrible for me. and Мыш even without softening sound at the end sounds REALLY soft quite and gentle just by the way this sounds works in my language so it's so affectionate for me and i also calling him "мышка" which is something like "mousy"?? a cuter and a smaller version of the word which makes it's even more affectionate also it's short and fast and i'm lazy(the reason i never callong him wanderer) till this day i so glad of this decision in naming and also i's very funny then my friends are calling any wanderer "мышью" bc i always were the biggest simp for him o them all and they are just gtting used to it i also called him Koneko on my alt account which is japaniese for a kitten (for obvious reasons) though i was really tempted to call him my player name on there since his reaction to this is adorable (and calling him your name is allowed yes)

The way he literally brought up "You sound like a friend who cares", "Makes it sound like i'm qualified to be your friend", "Makes it sound like you're concerned about me" THREE TIMES makes my heart ache 😭 He just wanted a friend who will truly care for him!!! Like the people from Tatarasuna who treated him like family 😭😭 *by the way, it wasn't Niwa's family who sought vengence, it was the son of the swordsmith who went with him in the furnace. Kazuha is the one from Niwa's family I keep saying this but it makes me really really happy that you were able to understand Scara fully!!! His pain and suffering, him taking responsibility and working on atoning, Righting his wrongs from now on!! He's beautiful 😭 beautiful heart and soul I'm so glad he found home in Sumeru 😭💚 This is also the best quest for me, and Scara'a story was fully delivered well 😭🥺 Now that you're done with Inversion, i hope you get to watch Parade of Providence storyline. I'm sure you'll be able to read through Scara's thoughts there too 🥺 I'd love to suggest Simulanka storyline, but that includes one Fontaine character, but i don't think it's much of a spoiler.
