@Labour Law Advisor pls could you make a video on mutual fund taxation. 1) How do we need to pay the tax when we redeem (thru IT return?). 2) Are there any tax saving strategies like tax harvesting, rebalancing (need to know what are these) OR is it good to only redeem only say after my goal of 20 yrs (eg.) and pay 10% tax in the end? 3) Also, when is the right time to exit? 2 3 yrs before when we need the funds?... To take care of any market fluctuations. 4) what is indexation? Many are clueless wrt to MF taxation, any video on this topic would be really helpful - Thanks.
Sir I didn't understand last blunder. You only said in some previous video that tax won't be applied for upto 1 lakh rs. So it is best to withdraw and re-invest when the value is around 1 lakh.
It seems certain stocks are undervalued, flying under the radar despite their potential. You can't help but wonder when the market will recognize their true worth. How can I invest $600K wisely to ensure our future security?
It's frustrating when market inefficiencies persist, particularly with undervalued stocks. Consider consulting an advisor for smarter investing decisions.
My financial advisor has been a game-changer, providing clarity and boosting my confidence in navigating finance. With their help, I've achieved my goals faster than I imagined. Highly recommend!

I just googled her and I'm really impressed with her credentials; I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get. I just scheduled a caII.

Ultimately amount invest in mix of big and small cap IT Co only.
The market trend can turn around very quickly. In fact, the indexes often switch from a bear market to a bull market when the news is at its worst and the mood of investors is at its lowest point. I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?
In particular, amid inflation, investors should exercise caution when it comes to their exposure and new purchases. It is only feasible to get such high yields during a recession with the guidance of a qualified specialist or reliable counsel.
Blunder 1: Low NAV high Return❌ Blunder 2 : Investing in sectoral funds Blunder 3: Too many mutual funds Blunder 4 : Expense ratio should not be the only criteria!! Blunder 5 : Frequently withdrawal
I was a beginner in stock market in 2007. . Lost 3 lakhs at that time but some experienced holder one day told me that not to do intra trading but invest ur money in delivery. I have invested 5 Crore at that time bought TATA Steel at 350 ,Tata Motors at 135,,TCS , Infosys, Polaris, Maruti, etc.holded 10 year and then sold .I have gained to much but I learnt one thing Stock market always gives you new lessons to learn.Well thanks for your kind information I know less about mutual fund

While choosing Mutual find I will see following components 1) Lower expense ratio 2) Direct fund 3) Past record 4) Asset Under Management 5) Portfolio diversification

With ULIPs plan improving a lot as they face tough competition from Mutual funds and also the special benifits of having no LTCG in Ulips maturity amount, Please make a full detailed video showing why MFs are still better than Ulips taking in mind post tax returns
I have just started investing. Started sip in three mutual funds - 1. HDFC mid cap opportunities. 2. ICICI nifty next 50 3. Quant Small cap. I will be holding these funds for a very long time probably 20+ yrs and step up once in a while. Any suggestions for my investment planning!?
Mandeep, Thanks a lot for this detailed blunder list with respect to MF investments. Honestly, I have committed all these blunders. Good content with systematic delivery in easy-to-understand terms for non-BCom/Finance blokes like me. Keep up the good work. Thanks and Regards.

Committed the mistake of buying too many funds. I finalised the funds 2 days back and ended up investing in 10 of them. Will wait for your video on how to choose which equity MFs to invest in. That video is definitely of highest priority than any other videos that you may be planning. Thanks! Your content is definitely helpful and valuable.

Strongly disagree with keeping 1-2 funds. e.g. For retirement which is 20-30 yrs, small cap and mid cap will definitely outperform multicap and largecap. So fund type selection is dependent on goal. Goals can be many.
Also you start investing in some good fund, they stop accepting more money. So you start with another and then they stop. Now you cant sell the first 2 as they are truly good funds. But are forced to invest in 3rd.
Great video! I'm still kinda confused about expense ratio though. If returns and NAVs are calculated after factoring in expense ratios, then why do we even need to bother?!
1. High expenses being deducted from NAV automatically means lower return. This is important, same MF will have 2 versions: regular and direct. Regular plan will have a higher expense ratio. Meaning, returns from the direct plan will be higher than those of regular plan even though it is the same mutual fund. 2. You would want to know which mutual funds fail to beat their benchmark and yet charge a high expense ratio. It's a sign to stay away from them. Only if a mutual fund justifies expense ratio by its performance, we need not worry.
I have 5 mutual fund. 1 Flexi cap, 1 Sensex Index, 1 US Index, 1 Debt fund, 1 IT sectorial themetic.... I choose these fund for different goals and Purpose...
Thanks Mandeep. I was always confused about the expense ratio point and never got right answer from anywhere, I used to minus it from the returns to compare 2 MF schemes. Finally my confusion is clear that Expense Ratio is irrelevant when we are comparing returns of 2 MFs.
Dear Sir, (1) Comment on your point #1. - Lower NAV indicates that the MF scheme is at the initial cycle and there are greate chances for the NAV to increase . In case fof Higher NAV in case of long existing scheme, that the fund has matured and it will not grow at the same scale at which it grew in the primary phase of the Scheme (2) Point no 2 , whenever I wish to purchase MF Schemes , I take available various schemes and divide their NAV by 3 year CAGR, .This indicates which MF is cheaper and which one is costlier . and after getting this I again apply filter of CAGR % range e.g. 20-25%, 15-20% & like that for MF selection
Thanks for informative content. I am asking very simple question, lets consider I want to invest 50k monthly then 25k each in two funds or 10k each in 5 funds. I believe 25k each in two funds is more riskier than 10k each in 5 funds. Everyone says Portfolio should be diversified so 10k each in 5 funds would be ideal scenario. Another concern about sector fund but I believe some sectors funds like ICICI prudential technology funds are giving consistent returns over several past years so its not bad to put sector fund in portfolio might be only 20% allocation from entire portfolio and its all depends on requirements. In long term perspective sectors fund are quite good specially IT sectors which always outperform other sectors in long term 10 to 15 years
Hey man, finance guy here IT sector has done well over the LAST 10-15 years, pick a sector for the next 10-15 years Trust your own analysis over everything else and always quadruple check your calculations Pick something simple that'll work over a long amount of time
The term Diversification applies only in case of people who are investing in stocks. Mutual funds are already diversified as they select almost 50-100 stocks. So selecting just 2 categories will be enough diversification.
@@Jaibajrangbali1709 Yes correct if investment amount is less e.g. 10k per month but I am saying diversify in terms of index, small cap, large cap, flexicap, sector and foreign securities when want to invest large amount
@@pravinyadav8261 Brother diversification has nothing to do with amount. Even if you invest billions. If you are picking MF then just select 2 or 3 good ones.
One thing I don't get about MFs is that their declared returns don't match up with their actual returns. For example I have invested in ICICI prudential technology Direct Plan Growth. I've been putting Small SIPs in this fund since October 2020 so it's been 2 years 7 months since then. My total principle invested stands at 80,500/- but my returns stand at -3.85% at 77,402. But when I click on the mutual fund portfolio it says that this fund has given 174% absolute returns in the past 3 years. How can that be when my own investment is at 3% loss?
Sir, the first blunder with NAV I have done already 🙈 Secondly with new navi index fund I took the opportunity of NFO for low expense ratio Thirdly I invested in more than 5 MF 🙈 I am also invested in sectoral funds and they are growing also 😅 I think I made all blunders here 😑😑😰
Mandeep what do you suggest should I make a lumosum investment in MF for 15-20 yrs or go by small fix monthly amount investment. What do you suggest Which option will generate more returns Lummpsum or Monthly ? Moreover you can suggest me the best MF to investment If I go by your suggestion for Lumpsum or Monthly investemnt option ?
I have 13 mutual funds in my portfolio 😂. I was already aware that they are a lot and I am planning to redeem them once they get under long-term gains to save tax 🙃
Same condition here bro. During learning period I have invested in many mutual funds. Now I have 13 in my folio. Waiting for redemption as per when it gets into bracket of LTCG 😂😂😂
I select my Mutual Fund Schemes by looking at various criterias. It's not based on any one point like expense ratio, coz for me returns are more important than the price I pay for that return. Basically it's the net return we get. Love ❤ Labour Law posts. I'm happy to say that I'm not part of any of those blunders...
Good morning sir. I plan i invest 1lakh in SBI multicap fund which has current NAV of 10.9 My reasoning is this: SBI has consistently performed well across all segments of MF (Small,Mid,Large,Flexi,ELSS) And the fund managers of this scheme have managed other SBI mutual funds successfully. So i am confident that the NAV of this scheme won't be around 10 or lower after 2years. I expect it to cross 20NAV in two years based on performance of other Sbi MFs. Is my reasoning correct?
Sir abhi mne abhi ek video dekha isse phle , usme ye bataya tha apne ke nav jitna kmm hoga utna jyada chance h profit ke , but is video me bataya ke , nav km ho ya jyada usse koi frk nhi pdta. 😑🤷
Sectoral funds rakh sakete ho but total portfolio ka 10 percent se jyada nahi hona chahiya Hamesh 4 funds rakho large cap, multi cap, small cap, sectoral and tax saver (if needed) Sectoral mai 10 percent Small mai 35 percent Multi mai 20 percent Large mai 35 percent Bina kisi pareshani ke app achha pesa gain karoge, lumpsum pesa mat dalo hamesa sip Karo, lumpsum keval market crash ke vakt dallo jese corona ke vakt hua tha, aur 2 ya 3 percent market girne ko crash nahi bolte jesa ki is video mai stocks mai invest ke liye bola ki demate account open Karo ye galti jindgi mai bhi kabhi bhi mat karna bar aad ho jaoge, jab bethe bitaye har mahine sip ke through pese mutaul finds mai kat jate hai, aur 18 se 22 percent ka return mil jata hai, to jabardasti kyu bhaagna aur tension lega
I did B,C and D mistakes 😅 thank you so much Mandeep for this video. Please make a video on how the LTCG tax is paid? Do we need to file the tax or the AMC does it on behalf of me and gives me the remaining money? Also, how the period in exit load is considered when I do SIP?

I would like to add one more thing. Active funds almost always have a higher expense ratio than passive fund. I don't think I need to explain what's active and passive, it should be you explaining it better to public.

thanks Mandeep for always guiding us, the only thing I have done is choose Sectoral Fund, but I did it intentionally and no one told me or guided me about same. I am invested in Tata Digital India fund started Sep 2020 only, I have most conviction on IT companies may bcoz I working in TCS from 8 years now :)
Bhai my dad had a similar portfolio. He had 34 MFs in his portfolio. He had just 4 index funds of different fund houses. Cut the clutter in 2019. Quant active fund Quant smallcap fund & everyone's dear PPFAS. A bit on the risky side but barely any overlap and I believe it will work well with the time horizon of 10years.
Elss, fof, flexi, small, gold, its fine to have more sips. If gain is averaged than fall is also averaged, in this way voltality is reduced similar to having multiple stocks, all fund house uses different strategy to invest, so overlapping of stocks is not the only factor.
I have chosen IT sectoral funds but I dont think it is a blunder because: 1) I will be invested till long term mostly 10-15 years 2) As I am from tech background , I strongly believe the world including india will be driven by tech industry for atleast this decade. Please reply if you guyz think My reason are wrong
