The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.

I have a 3 fund portfolio but I have finally decided to invest in ETFs, alongside. I’m looking at SCHD, VOO, XLK or SCHG.

@@ShelleyfromCali thank you! Actually would it be silly to have both?

Not necessarily though there is a fair amount of overlap but that’s not necessarily a negative. Having a diverse portfolio is KEY; that being said my initial deposit of 90K has grown to over $650K in only just ten months :)

Congratulations!! I lost a lot chasing individual stocks and I feel pretty stupid for not understanding how investing works. I have a double major in economics but I’ve been trying to make sense of the market.

Keep it simple, buy things you understand, take some risk but don't try to shoot the lights out. I’m invested in equity index funds, ETFs and various high-quality stocks and use a CFA. On average, she takes 10% of earnings, but using Lina Dineikiene's system makes it much more hands-off. I conservatively follow her recommendations and market entry and exit points, and tbh this has quite increased my prospects of making money.

Great information as usual. Thank you! I have been dollar cost investing into a value tilt index fund for the last 5 years waiting patiently for the outperformance. I am convinced by the evidence provided by Dimensional Fund Advisor historical data. As I understand, the outperformance is more likely to happen when interests rate drop. Anyway, you still need a balanced portfolio to also include a market cap world index fund to make it through the tough times. I am holding on!

That's interesting! Thanks for sharing. Value has started to revert to mean recently and as you say, it could be more consistent in this environment. (Although no guarantees of course!)

Hi George, I personally wouldn't go for factor investing as I don't trust myself to pick correctly. I'm happy to trade some gains for the comfort of broad market etfs😊

Yes, in my view it's a strategy which needs careful consideration before jumping in. Thanks for watching.

In retirement you want to protect against tail risk rather than going for extra growth using factors. The market has under performed for decades in the past, this is when factors can and have had a positive effect. The non-correlation of small and value with the index tends to produce higher growth when the portfolio is re-balanced than the sum of the individual factors held and the index. I believe this is called Modern Portfolio Theory

Any thoughts on using FSWD as a way of implementing this strategy? (ISHARES IV PLC EDGE MSCI WORLD MULTIFACTOR UCITS ETF (GBP) (FSWD))

The decision on where to invest depends heavily on the length of time you are investing for, my first goal is to be able to retire, and then put money in to long term investments, if I were 30 with a large portfolio I might consider this approach.

I took alternative route in 2019 and put Bitcoin to my SIPP (while it was still possible) after careful consideration. 9 more years to go until I can start withdrawing. Can't wait for that day to be honest :)

A number of academic papers have indicated that to benefit from these tilts including size and value one really needs to hold for a minimum of 20 years. The problem, as you mentioned, is can an investor hold for that long without wanting to change. Most investors would prefer any easier option like an index after all chopping and changing will incur extra costs which will ensure lower returns.
