Hi, I think your videos are great! Would it be possible to talk about your views on investment management as a whole? The difference (if any) of asset management in an investment bank like Goldman and that of Blackrock? I hope you see this comment as I am a first year finance student who is trying to consider whether IB or AM is the correct path for a career. Thank you.
I saw you went to Leicester University so how did you get into Investment Banking? I thought they only recruit from LSE, Oxbridge, York, Imperial, Warwick etc. Or is that just certain Investment Banks? One thing I have noticed in PE and some other areas of high finance is that there are some people from poor ranked universities there via connections. Same in real estate world for some leading real estate investment firms in the city that many are from poor universities but old connections (top independent school). This is one of BS things I dislike about the small UK. You do not find that crap happening as much in US.
He went to an unknown boutique called Aquaa partner... And did auditing and risk after. Still good compared to the average but absolutely far from being a top tier profile. If you want to get into BB banks and come from a non target your best bet is to get as much related work experience as possible and then do a master at LSE/LBS and recruit for BB banks. Also, he got a master at durham not a bachelor, Durham is far less prestigious at master level than bachelor. If I recall correctly the master is not even in the top 40 in Europe according to the FT and I have met nobody in banking with a Durham master even thought I did meet quite a few with a Durham bachelor
I live in Pakistan and I want to pursue a career in finance. Is there any chance for a Pakistani university graduate to land a job in UK for an Investment Banking role ?
Hello, I’m currently a junior at uni majoring in economics with a minor in Finance. This summer I’ll be interning at Moody’s in their corporate risk management division. The opportunity to have my first internship at Moody’s is too great to pass up. However, my dream is to become an IB. Do you have any tips as to which division I should try to get into in the future? Should I stick with risk Management and obtain an MBA? How should I position myself so that my chances of becoming an IB will be greater?
