This is the most in-depth Q300 vs. Stock Exhaust video on RU-vid. Wish it came out earlier, just had the Q300 catback installed on my 2019 STI and I am loving it so much!
I daily drive my 21 STI with the Q300. Everything he said is true. It definitely turns heads when you’re on the gas, barely any drone, cold starts sound great, the tone and pitch are perfect IMO and the tips, being as big as they are, look great especially with an aftermarket diffuser and coil overs
I'm going this route, I live in California and I'd like a bit more tone but not obnoxious to piss off the neighbors! Thanks for the review on this item. SOLD!
Great comparison. No bs. No story time. Just the facts and the sounds at all of the points you want to hear the sounds at. Would love to see more on other exhaust systems!
I love my q300 it came with the car already and I was so happy when I got it! Haha got a 2020 with 8k miles back in March. The exhaust really brings the rumble to life! At times I wish it was louder but it’s the perfect tone for a daily!
Definitely the best video about the Q300 I've seen, your delivery is articulate and hits literally every question I have about getting a new exhaust. Thanks a lot for this!
Dude your channel is awesome, you're very thorough with your descriptions and explaining your thoughts. A+ I wish every exhaust comparison was performed by you.
Awesome video. I previously had a Tomei hooked up to my STI, but after getting an aftermarket downpipe it became way too loud (like setting off my other cars alarm in the driveway loud) i've heard lots of complaints that this is too quiet of an exhaust but this comparison between the stock setup, plus the consistent testing and decibel reading makes me confident this is the next set up that I want to get to quiet it down but get that beautiful sound. Keep it up!
Just got a 2020 STI. Absolutely love your videos. They are very informative and I learn a lot especially this being my first subie/turbo car. Much is appreciated.
Picking up my 2021 STI here in CT in a couple weeks. Your channel and all your vids have been super informative, and have helped me lay a blueprint for what I want to do for my own car. Especially loved your video on why you bought your 2020, and the audio install. Keep doing what you’re doing bro, we love the content, and appreciate your efforts. 🤙🏼
MCM just used this exhaust as well on the STI in their recent Wreck It video. Between the sound clips from yours and theirs, that sealed the deal on the Q300 for me. Didnt want obnoxious but wanted better sound and this fits the bill.
I'm surprised u haven't done any audio upgrades..I seen the cvt work u did and it was very impressive..that being said I'm kinda blown away at how this q300 sounds cuz I was always told it was similar to stock but that's not the case at all its definitely better
Just installed my Q300 (single exit) on my WRX yesterday and I couldn't be happier. This video was a big reason that I made the choice that I did! Really solid review you've put together here.
YOOOOOOOOOOOO! You are the truth!!!! I used your videos for the cylinder 4 cool mod and the AOS Mod but I got the COBB. Also I got the COBB 3" Titanium exhaust and I prefer it but I just wanted to thank you and say please keep coming with the quality content. Also if you're ever in the Orlando Fl area I would love to meet up and pick your brain about Subi info and future build ideas I have .
Nice work on showing both the stock and the new install exhaust. Nice job all so with the install I will be buying mine as it was a toss up between the Cobb and this one. But I like this one because I like that it has punch but no to loud ! 😂
@@akqjtn Doing great! I cleaned everything, tightened everything up good and reset everything and not a problem since! Just got the rallyflaps put on and been taken it easy for awhile. Love how your car sounds though. I just need a dang shop and it would make doing things way easier!!
Everybody needs to watch this Super video. Though not "scientific" it is really a well done comparison. I think your final thoughts are very relevant to the decision to buy a "Cat-Back" system. It is ONLY for sound unless you swap out the entire system and "tune" (re-map) the ECU. *Be AWARE! As of this writing, California has put in place legal steps to outlaw this type of basic not invasive system. It will become illegal to perform ANY work on your own car very soon. Please make your voice heard before it changes your ability to use your car.
This is a good exhaust for a balance between a bit of noise from your car and not your partner lol. Go with the N1, R400 and you sleep in the garage or ear bashing till you remove it. By the way this is with the STI and those with the FA20 engine wont be as loud and aggressive.
I couldn't agree more about "the cop magnet", I went with the Q300 over the R400 because I daily drive my car and didnt want the additional attention (which we already get lol).
Q300 is a great exhaust and perfect if you live in California as it's only a few dbs louder over stock. Had it for years but recently ordered the greddy rs race single exit exhaust as it's lighter and has less bends in the piping. Should be less turbulence and more free flowing.
Hello, it's nice video. And I'm interested how are you sadisfied with quality of that Q300 exhaust now after 3 years? Is now still everything as it should be? Are the welds still holding, are there any loose spots(bolts and nuts)? I am going to buy Invidia Q300 for my 2007. Accord Type S CL9 (K24A3) so I would like to know your impressions after 3 years. Thanks in advance.
For the price, it's not very much difference. It is well built for sure. I think I need something a little louder. Active exhaust would be best for me, but having some problems finding one for my 2022 WRX 6MT.
Thank you brother. This was very very helpful! Do you mind sharing if you have any BPV and if so which one? Your whoosh is just perfection. Any other mods that would contribute to that sound? Seems like you nailed the setup.
I should have went with this one instead of the R400, the Drone on the R400 is bad. A lot of people say is not. ( believe me is loud and I’m about to take it down and return) but if you’re looking for a little more than stock with out compromising peace go with the q300
Coming from someone who has a FRS with full exhaust and and N1 cat back I totally regret not getting the Q300 my exhaust sounds good only 20% of the time the rest is all drone and obnoxious loudness very unattractive don’t know how the N1 is so popular
Great video. I have 2021 with Q300. Just noticed Your steering wheel is off Center. I have the same issue. It lower on the L side. Not sure if it needs alignment or some issues with suspension that Subaru has, since I have the same issue.
Put the stock air filter back on your losing boost if it's not tuned. Should be hitting 18psi the video is not even close looks like it's running lean.
i guess the only downside of this is the weight. i plan to put to put this in my fxt sj. any exhaust with the similar sound of the q300 but lighter in weight? anyone have any suggestions?
Funny, I didn't sign for my AWE exhaust catbback and the box was equally huge. The GS downpipe adapter is a good call. I didn't on my (AWE) CBE and I think it might have a slight leak at the donut gasket. Does noise change with engine load?
Watching this video again, I’m kind of alarmed by how rusted the stock exhaust looks after only 1 year +\- What are your thoughts on that? I live in the Northeast so I’m familiar with how the road salt can corrode a vehicle, but was surprised to see that amount of corrosion already. On that topic, I’d be interested in knowing your thoughts on if there are any options to prevent corrosion on the underside of a brand new STI in a cold weather climate?
@@akqjtn Will check out the install vid and look in to the fluid film. I know it comes with the territory but was still surprised to see to the aggressiveness of that corrosion. I’m definitely wanting to do some preventative protection early on with mine. Thanks again. 🤙🏼
I'm torn between the q300 and the cobb ss and titanium. Now that you've had this one which do you think I should go with? I'm wanting just a bit more rumble than stock on a 21 STI.
@@rubberlessg241 I ended up getting the cobb titanium and I took it off the vehicle because of how much it droned. Currently running the stock exhaust.
