He's talking about the fact that Mauritania has a 20% slavery rate (as in buying-and-selling kidnapped humans old school slavery, not modern slavery) and overall crime and terrorism threats are very high. As always many people there will be lovely (as witnessed by Ahmed doing this lovely thing for Noraly), but sadly as a generic whole the country has some legitimate problems that are in no way a 'stereotype'.

You find the police who are ready to provide shelter when you are in need. You find random people who invite you into their homes for refreshments. That reflects what I have found as I have traveled many places. Of course, there are others who want to take advantage. They are everywhere. But, across the world, there are far more who want to help, to show that their country is good, to protect us from harm. I am enthralled by the beauty and compassion you show us every week. It's a different mind-set when you live in places like that. I've travelled and worked all over the world as well. It's the same up north in Alaska, the Yukon or Northwest Territories; you never pass someone on the side of the road between communities without stopping and asking if they are ok or need help. You pay it forward every time you do that, because one time in the future it might be you who needs help. City folks down south simply don't get it. Heck, most city folks don't know their neighbor's first name.

Ahmed is the man. A "Roger of the Western Sahara" if you remember Roger out of Wallace, Idaho from Season 6. I buy and burn gasoline by the gallon (except when infrequently riding in Canada). So, when Noraly arrived Atar and Alaska took two tenths shy of capacity I incorrectly thought it wasn't too bad- I've done that a number of times. Then I remembered it is two tenths of a liter not of a gallon! That converts to a mere 7 ounces remaining in Alaska! This brings me back to Ahmed. His hauling of Noraly's luggage was key to Alaska not running out.

Wow wow wow, I am still speachless while watching every single second of this amazing , wonderful and georgeus adventure you have been made. I also still speachless about what has AHMED done to help you, given his guidance all the far distances for a long time with his kindly heart together with all the mouritanian nomades and people as well. That Ahmed is really the hero and the lion of the desert, . Wow wow wow..Wees voorzichtig Noraly en rijd ook veilig . Greetings from the Netherlands.

I’m so happy Ahmed was taken care of by you to say he was a life safer is an understatement the people and hospitality you have been shown is unbelievable and priceless. You have a guardian angel watching over you on your journeys speaking for your parents and me I’m relieved that you do. Stay safe may your blessings continue on this most amazing journey. So much of the world we would never see without Noraly. Always on the road less traveled. I keep coming back to how the visit by Itchy Boots must effect the local people. n a short period I met a man who had never left New York city and then a man who had never left his tiny vilage in Alaska. What an amazing diversity our beautiful planet holds! Ride on safely!

Talk about far flung corners of the world. A fellow with a chainsaw on a mountain road to a gentleman with a Toyota truck who knows the vast desert like the back of his hand. This is a unique channel.

Gespannt wies weitergeht.😊

This may be your best season yet IMO. You've done more for tourism in Mauritania than anyone else. Achmed will praise you for years to come I think.

I too in my wanderings have found that these Nomad people are incredibly hospitable. This girl was lucky to have been rescued by such a gentleman. Deserts are beautiful but can be deadly. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK

Ya le dije a Noraly que lo menos que puede hacer para agradecer tanto cuidado, compañía y ayuda que le han brindado en el desierto es casarse con Ahmed 😅😅

Ahmed is a legend. He'll talk of this for years to come too. He may be a local, but any excuse to go bush bashing in the ol' 4x4 would have been more than welcome. ;)

You could see that Ahmed is a master at avoiding the soft an difficult sections of sand. No doubt he has been driving in that stuff most of his life.

Believe it or not, you look so glowing and gorgeous for riding 12 hours Noraly... I guess the Mauritanian desert heat had done good for your skin. Lovely Your rides had proven my belief that there are still plenty of kind and good people everywhere.
