We sat down with inZOI, the so-hot-right-now ultra-realistic-looking Sims-like, and found a game that shows a ton of potential and is indeed gorgeous, but still feels a bit empty. Previewed by Sarah Thwaites
Not a good comparison. Sims 4 didn't even have toddlers when it first launched is still a barren landscape without dlc. This is base game and we're already seeing a ton more then sims 4 offers and without dlc. It needs polishing but they are working on it so I'm not worried. The biggest issues will come from cultural differences. They hired people to help with western influences but its a Korean based company so there are gonna be things they do for the game we don't get, just like we do things in the US that they don't get.
1. You complained about the world being hollow, but never explained why. 2. You complained about the usage of AI, which the devs have said were trained on in-house assets. Would love for IGN to address this.

no one bashing ai is aiming at the fact some people can't create textures, it's arguing about the fundamental right for humans to create something and for that to not be stolen and used to feed an ai datastet... Why do people who have no clue about how generative ai actually works and why companies ban this kind of thing due to future legal ramifications insist on advocating for it?! I'm sadly thinking people don't read things anymore to have the notion to claim that it's, "needless hating on gen ai..." Are you gen ai creator or someone who has a stake in that garbage?
@@Mboogy the problem is, it’s someone’s choice if they don’t want to be “creative” or not and not really your business to tell someone what tools they can or can’t use. This is like when Socrates said writing is bad because it stunts people from training their memory and now nobody agrees with him on that just like nobody will agree with your stance on Ai in a couple of years. At the end of the day it is hating because it’s simply not your business what people do with tools they have given to them.
The "data source is stolen" argument is NOT the only argument your side uses and you know it. You guys love to say "AI art isn't real art". Which is a very silly claim to make. As if you guys are the ones in charge of deciding what is and is not "art" @@Mboogy As for stolen data - human artists look at other human's art to get new ideas and find inspiration. That's also basically what AI does. Writers cannot write unless they read a lot of books. So human artists are allowed to use other human's work for inspiration and often for straight up copying it too. But when AI does it, you start screaming? Double standard
Doesn't have driving or bands or public transportation or any real activities to do or color wheel or more life stages or cutscenes or customization in clothing grocery stores real shops etc
They clearly mentioned that the background feels empty and leaves the game feeling somewhat hollow. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know how to fix that. So it doesn’t need to be explained. Adding NPCs in the background and more moving cars would likely help. Maybe add birds flying around. A plane in the sky.

No the AI does not put a damper on playing at all lol. Just domt use it people make big deals over everything. And also it looks really fun its gonna be early access they say early access for a reason lol! People are to fussy and this is why they cancle games.
People complaining about The Sims graphics because this game looks too realistic and at the same time they're praising and loving "Paralives" cartoonish graphics. Make up your mind. The Sims and Paralives will stay cartoonish, not realistic.
Hating on the AI is crazy. That’s one of the best ideas I’ve ever seen in a character creator - and sure it may be empty at times, but is the sims any different? We’re dealing with a large open world here…. Lower your towering expectations ma’am, This games gone miles further than the sims 4 ever did at its launch
The Sims had a decade to put little by little all the things we know, plues prior games. This is this company's first game and it already looks amazing and adds things that we havent seen in other simulators, cut them some slack.
What do you mean by "empty and hollow". Everything I'm seeing here is par for course in a "Sims style" game. Where are yo getting the hollow feeling? you can't just say that without explaining. We don't know what this means to you nor what you are referring to aka give an example.
Base game might be light on content being a brand new IP, but the graphics alone makes the Sims devs look like amateurs who just finished their first year of college.
It briefly & quickly explained the hollowness sterns from tiny interactions such as third party involvement, reactions, eg. Accidentally crashing gets u no reactions, missing ppl in cars when viewed from the outside. Abilities to plan yr own events, such as marriage, business, child birth etc… Lack of multi-tasking to give off that overwhelming feeling of work overload or anxiety…or pressure. Also bcz ppl are capable of doing 2 to 3 task at once that have time oriented limits to it while also communicating such as arguing or flirting, talking about future etc. The choice to name yr kid, the lack of time movement…the time skip growth on the child should not occur in yr normal days but rather if u choose to time skip yr town making it consequential as u will now skip a part of yr characters life and end up with a future u did not puppet but ones that yr characters automatically would make if u let them be autogenerated. Needs More subtle interactions in every environment such as in work, school, inside the bus or car if u are not driving, etc… + those third party interactions are crucial as irl ppl get jealous, fall in love, steal, kill, etc…u shouldn’t solely be the cause to those events unless u pupating the whole town than u decide. Eg. If yr character marries or date a partner there most likely will exist someone who liked yr character or yr partners character in which would result in the third party either hating u out of jealousy or become yr friends if u know them but might try meddling with yr relationship etc. 😮 I’ll stop here what other situations do u guys think needs to be fixed or added.
sorry those of us in IT realize how awesome generative AI is. to me thats a HUGE+ not a negative. the game needs to be totally moddible like the sims though, animations, clothing, body and skin textures, the works or its a non starter for me. the built in clothes were horrible especially coming from a Korean publisher, PRUDE does not sell. women's clothes should look like womens clothes not mens clothes, high heels and skirts and blouses, even the Sims4 built in stuff isnt as prudish as this game demo was..
This would be fun as an AO game. Would have been nice as we don't seem to have very many of those. Unfortunately, they aren't going to make it like that. We will have to wait for the modders to work their magic.
Your comment that prompt crafting is less creative freedom len a few defined patterns with some tweaking options is baffling. Clearly a card carrying member of AI, progress new things scare me crowd. You know what would cultivate a better community? Avoiding ignorant fear mongered comment like that.
This game was so close to out beating the sims but didn’t because of one reason. They’re WAY too PG. part of the fun in video games and open world games specifically is being able to do what you want. Which is funny because that’s what this game promotes but then gives you the red light when you wanna make any sort of havoc
I'm not going to defend a game before it comes out but Sims 4 defender are just ingesting copium and are just in sunk cost fallacy having bought too much dlcs to be open minded.
The game needs less rabbit holes, the map is not that big and you only have access to HALF of the city. When your zois are making love you get a "weird video" like the ones you had back in PS1 for many games, when your zois are giving birth you get ANOTHER VIDEO instead of a quick animation or something. It's great but it requires more things to do.
