Great video! Also, I find turning the mold over and releasing it from the piece instead of trying to release the piece from the mold helps. There's less flexing of the molded piece that happens because you push it against a hard, flat surface as you flex the mold up and away from it. Thanks for sharing! 😊
This video inspired me to run out and get moulds and paperclay. I tried them last night, and found that kneading a bit of flour into the mould (like dough) helped to dry the clay and make it easier to press and remove. I pulled them out immediately after I press them in, and no residue was left behind in the mould. Corn starch would have been preferable, but I didn’t have any on hand.
Thank You So Much Tiffany, I really really enjoyed watching you create these amazing and stunning embellishments from those moulds. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love the IOD moulds! You showed one I really loved and which I don't have so have just gone and ordered it... you're an enabler! :) Thanks for sharing, love your videos
Thank you so much for your video. Earlier today I was looking on Amazon for clay and molds. I want to redo an old dresser. Now I have a better idea on how this works.
So glad I stumbled across your video! Been having issues getting the clay out of the molds w/o breakage. Using the same clay & cornstarch but the more intricate pieces break so easily. Thxs for your suggestions!
This was a great video...thank you so much for sharing your thought process and showing with the baby powder and without. I enjoy your videos best where you share your process....i learned something new today...i like the simple tools you use, looks like just a few tools and you make some beautiful pieces....thanks again for your thought process and sharing.....
I went right after the video and got the paperclay...mind you no IOD moulds But I have the cake decorating moulds and today I am gonna try this instead of the caulk. I love your work and hope this will work for me. Thanks for sharing and showing !!
I am pretty sure the cake molds are very similar. The IOD moulds you can use for cake decorating too so I think you should be fine. Thank you so much! Big hugs and be sure to let me know how it goes!
disaster...lol, the moulds were just to thin and when removing the clay they just broke or crumbled ,I will just have to order some IOD moulds...thanks again
I have been watching your videos a lot lately and noticed these molds. So glad I ran across this video. Definitely ordering some molds! I for some reason have a ton of polymer clay. My daughter and I are going to have fun! Some of your work is so beautiful it could qualify for abstract paint work!
Great video and putting it together. I've dabbled in the clay once. It ended up drying up, on account of not properly wrapping it up. And simply using it. And to quit being lazy. I don't have any excuse s now , so maybe I'll give it a go again.
I’ve done that, and for some projects it works, for others I’ve learned it is better to put it on my project before it dries so it doesn’t “ warp” a little? I’m very new at this… maybe I’m doing something wrong!
Hi wanted to know where you purchased the Nifty baby powder tool I have lots of molds and I have to use a brush to put on corn starch on my molds your method looks much easier and less messy 😄
Thanks for the tip about using the powder! I use it with polymer clay but didn't even think about it for paper clay. These moulds are so gorgeous! Thanks for sharing! BIG Hugs!!
Hi Tiffany. Lol just randomly watching some of your older videos. Question, what can you do with these molds once done. ?? I’m stuck there. Any suggestions on videos that can bring a spark of inspiration? Thank you ❤
I used them for altered projects. If you watch my older videos you will see a lot of them in use. I don't use them really at all now though. It is hard to say which videos as I don't have a playlist but you can search my channel for altered and a lot of them will come up. I hope that helps. Happy New Year!
Dear Tiffany, I love your work, and these molds are beautiful. Hope you don't mind me asking, but how much do they cost per mold? Thank you for the great video, love from Amanda in Australia :-)
How long did you allow the wet paper clay to stay in the mold before removing it????? You never said how long you let it stay in the mold after you put it in it.
I have to wait because I can’t get them out of my molds or I just throw it in the oven for about four minutes on 175 and it pops right out without breaking
@@Tiffany.Solorio I did end up trying it, and it works with corn starch, without it, it’s too sticky. I prefer the IOD clay but it’s more expensive! So I will grab horsey clay for most projects! Thanks!
What I do if I want a piece to be flat is lay something on top. Not too heavy and then about 12 hours later I will flip it over and continue the process until its dry. I have a bin where I keep all of my resin and clay pieces. I don't mind them a bit bent but if you need a piece 100% flat I would suggest resin. I hope this helps. Thanks so much!
Have you tried freezing the molds before trying to take the clay out?also, what do you use these on? I make magic wands and have a kids line. This would be good for them!
I'm going to try the freezing, what a great idea! I use DAS clay and IOD moulds and dust them with corn starch and I'm STILL having a problem getting them out.
You could use a furniture safe glue. I honestly am unsure what that might be. If you follow iron orchid designs on Facebook or Instagram I am sure they can help you way better then I can. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Thanks so much for watching!
I've been trying to steer clear from clay since I know I would get addicted to it, but maybe it's time to dive in. thank you so much for the review! one question: since you said it takes abt 24 hours for the paper clay to air dry, does it turn hard completely say like a veneer or is it still bendable? also, does it break when accidentally dropped onto the floor?
Hello Anna. I don't really like the IOD clay or Prima modeling material. My favorite is the creative paper clay. I hope this helps. Sorry for the late response. I created an updated video. Feel free to watch it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fWpwKBZKyzE.html
A lot of these molds are discontinued. This video is almost 5 years old. You can find silicone molds here. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=33086&u=1283161&m=7429&urllink=&afftrack=
Have you tried pulling/sawing taut dental floss across the top of the mold to separate the excess clay? I will try it myself as soon as my molds are delivered but it has been months now and still waiting.
@@Tiffany.Solorio Let us know if it works as I still don't have the molds I ordered. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to save money by ordering from a Chinese eBay seller? Clamp a stop block to the edge of a table so it doesn't try to chase you.
The clay I use dries hard. I don't think they would break if dropped. It is paper clay. Sounds really cool. Thanks for watching. I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@mermaidsanctuarydesigns6955 The only thing I can think of is maybe the air dry kids clay. It is similar to the Martha Stewart air dry clay and it has a tiny give to it. I am sorry I can't be of more help.
Здравствуйте. Я не продаю формы. Но у меня есть ссылки на то, где их можно купить, в описании этого видео. Я надеюсь, что вы сможете найти магазин, который доставит вам товар. Спасибо!
Would love to see how you use these pieces in your art. Also, do you ever buy the Iron Orchid stamps? I've seen one of their videos where they stamp onto table linens and it is gorgeous.
Olá. Estou estou ótimo. Obrigado! Há links na caixa de descrição chamados moulds. Clique no link e ele levará você para uma loja que os transporta. Espero que isso ajude. Obrigado!
The RU-vid channel named Ultimate Paper Mache has a tutorial called New Smoother air dry clay recipe I've used in these molds. It works amazingly well & much much less expensive.
I went to go check that video...She combines like 7 different ingredients, has to mix them for 30 min and then knead the paste mixer! UM...NO just buy the paper clay! Now I saved you all 30 mins of your life. Your Welcome.

Hello! I created an updated video. It isn't 2 minutes but it is less then 4. I hope you take a look at it if you are still interested. Thanks so much for the push! Happy New Year! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fWpwKBZKyzE.html
