What hes doing does not require smarts. The video title/actual content relationship implies dummy or intentional click bait. IOS 12 is far from 'fast' compared to previous versions and geekbench scores are completely unrelated to software, the score difference is nothing more than a slight change to the cpu clock speed algorithm when a benchmark app is detected. Make your judgement off the actual real world performance tests to see how good the software is. The results would average as very similar to slightly worse which is far from 'FAST!'
Keep in mind that ANY of the speed tests shown here , are not from the official public released versions of iOS 12...so we can only be known about the speed once the official version comes out..then it is officially recorded
My full respect to Apple for not pushing many new features and actually pushing on speed effiency performance and very less bugs. I would definitely love a bug free OS rather than an OS with tons of features and buggy as hell I'm pretty sure iOS 13 will be the next big thing for Apple
Yea iOS 13 will be full of nice features, iOS 12 will be a great base with performance optimization etc on which apple will build new features for v13 then
In case you are wondering why his videos are in 360p early? it's because he didn't wait before publishing the video because it needs to process and he publishes right after it upload is complete that's why it processes in the video itself
I’m running the iOS 12 on my iPhone 6 and gotta say, love some of the features like the fake 3D Touch thing for the keyboard and some other animations and stuff, but for one good reason I won’t go back to iOS 11 and that would be the battery life. I was charging my phone 2 sometimes 3 times a day and had to leave it plugged in at night on iOS 11, but I’ve noticed a huge bump in battery life on iOS 12. Can’t wait for the final version to come out and see what the full experience feels like. But in general I’m happy and gotta add that it also feels a little faster than iOS 11, maybe not 70% but around 20-30% 🤷♂️ my personal experience and opinions 👍
Nope. For 5s and 6 in control centre, fake 3D touch(actually just touching for prolonged periods instead of pressing down hard) to bring up the advanced settings 6s and above would be real 3D Touch then 😂
Keep in mind this is the first build of the beta, and these third party apps have had absolutely no chance to release optimized versions. This is awesome to see, but the results are not going to be accurate at all of the final product. Especially the boot up times, it's likely they are performing diagnostic things during boot that prolong it.
You should really add labeling text and slo-mo in the edit for these types of videos. Would help the audience understand what they're seeing a lot more.
Apple just removed/reduced the animation to make the camera open up 70% faster. To actually make a phone faster you've to give it a speedier SSD, which is a hardware upgrade.

I missed the part where iOS 12 was fast? I visually saw almost no difference between app launching and camera opening. Seems like the bench marks yielded a better score overall for iOS12 but that doesn't really mean anything to me.... App and camera performance are by far the most prevalent things you'll be using on your phone. Hopefully things will improve once it's out of beta.
@Alex Smith- Everyone knows it's beta. Everyone knows things will most likely change once it's released. My comments are about its current state, just like everyone else's comments... Really the only thing that shined for iOS 12 was some of the benchmarks so I think he could have just titled the video something like "iOS 12 has FAST Benchmarks", it would have been much less misleading.
New install needs some time to cache the app files etc in order to see the true performance.. also 11.4.1 is really fast already runs great on my iPhone x
A lot of their speed claims weren’t large percentages. Especially for things that are small time scales to begin with. And for stuff like the 2x claims in certain areas, they specifically said 2x in specific situations *when under load* which means the phones need to be pushed until they’re really slowing down before they’ll be that much faster.
AAO 786 The iPhone X is new so there's definitely more power and more potential, but updating while having an iPhone 5s Is risky since it might become slow or there might be more problems
AnJai I’m on the 5s right now it’s not bad just heats the phone at first and then it gets slow hot but as soon as u reset the phone it’s fine.. it happened once tho so probably was just a one time thing
That's the point of the comparison. Even if it's a beta software, there should be atleast a slight performance bump since newer oses tend to have newer kernels and such. If the beta looses to the older os then that means iOS12 is just a minor ui update with old kernel.
The real difference in speed is probably noticeable only with an optimized app and compiled with new API's. Animations are always throttled and can be sped up with hidden settings.
My iPhone X dims on its own even when the auto dim settings are off. I notice my screen dimming when my phone warms up. My brightness will brighten back up when the phone cools down again. Does anyone else have the same issue?

You should do your internet speedtests next to your router to get a more accurate representation of how much the phone can handle. You should also make sure that the router you are using is capable of giving as much bandwidth as possible to your phone to see where it really can get to. I say this because I get between 470 and 485 Mb/s download consistently with my iPhone 8+ sitting next to my router (same as wired speeds, it maxes out my connection), so I believe some of your equipment might be bottlenecking the test, not the phone, considering my results are higher. Just a suggestion!
You forgot to compare the keyboard, the opening keyboard speed is amazing! I cant belive that a FIST DEV beta is faster than a released one, and if it is faster now, how would it be in the golden master? :O
For people who are not very tech savy, and only read headlines... iOS 12 is in beta. It is NOT a finished software, and a LOT can change during the coming months while Apple release new betas before the actual release sometime in September.
Do it for the iPads! My iPad Air 2 runs heavenly smooth on 12 beta 1, I literally haven’t experienced one bug as yet, and way less UI stuttering, it’s a rare occurrence now
iOS 12 beta 1 is literally more stable than 11.4 on my 6S. The only major issue I could find so far was that Skype crashes which isn’t a big deal for me... Using it as a daily driver on my main phone.
they haven’t lost anything infact they are extremely smart. They make background legal applications that slowly takes the devices RAM / memory which prompts the user their iphone is slow so they buy the new one, = more money
The iOS 11 first dev beta was pretty unusably slow so hopefully they can patch things up on 12 such that the under the hood changes can be better appreciated.
If this is all about getting iOS 12 on older devices, Apple should go all the way and make an exception to include iPhone 5 and maybe even iPhone 4S. Include all the iPad minis too.

Crypto Hags You DO realize that the majority of iPhones have LCD displays, and that would be horrible for the battery if there was a dark mode. That’s why there’s no way Apple is including it anytime soon, it’s very bad for those displays.
Bringing camera from the Lock Screen if you have already have selected Video will always take more time than opening to take just a photo. That's why iOS 11 was faster on opening Camera than iOS 12!
Who cares about benchmarks if the actual phone speed is slower? By the way: OnePlus 6 has lower Geekbench score and still destroys every other phone in speed (even iPhone X on iOs beta 12).
Aamir Ali Default answer from every apple fanboy. Other default answers: "iOS is still beta", "iOS is still not optimized","iPhone has only 3 GB of ram compared to 8 GB" but that doesn't change the fact that OnePlus destroys the iPhone in speed.
