hope one day they make a battery replaceable pencil. so far im smashing it with adding to the ewaste landfill apple are so excellent at creating. i hope ipad os will get as good as samsung dex one day. apple need to do more to make it easier for devs to make great ipad os apps. im so tired of iphone apps that "full screen" on the ipad. still very happy with my m1 macbook pro though :)

Regarding the Magic Keyboard, I think the second hinge was done so the screen is closer to the user so they can still take advantage of touching the iPad UI when needed. If its more “laptop like,” the screen will be further from the user and cause the strain that Steve Jobs talked about a long time ago, and why they never made a touchscreen Mac. One more thing. The second hinge allows for weight distribution, letting the keyboard part of the case be light and thin. If it was single hinge, the heavy iPad would tip it over towards the back.

Yes, I think the weight distribution was the main thing. I'm using my MacBook Pro now, and I have no problem reaching over and touching the display. The bigger issue, as you note, is counterbalance. But the new iPad Pro will be dramatically thinner, and thus lighter. And the base of the new Magic Keyboard will be aluminum. That should, in theory, fix the issues with counterbalance. We shall see! Also, hinge technology has gotten interesting - (remember Microsoft's Fulcrum hinge on SurfaceBook).
