The main problem I see with Ravenscroft is the same issue I have with most other acoustic piano Apps for IOS. Although all the pianos have a definitely percussive attack, it really has no perceivable hammer sound in that attack portion. And that, to me, is one of the most crucial elements in giving the acoustic piano it’s unique quality. The sympathetic resonance aspect is a nice touch. But, even though I own it, I never use Ravenscroft for live performances. And, now with the full version of Pianoteq 8 being offered for IOS, there is no acoustic piano software that can truly compete on the same level. With Pianoteq you can have the piano or pianos of your dreams.
I love using AUM to create and manage all my iOS plugins. It’s so much more enjoyable than editing internal sound patches on my keyboard, or fiddling with MainStage on my MacBook. Lately, I’ve just been bringing out my RD-64 and iPad to perform. Everything I need in a very compact and user friendly setup. Nice video!

I am struggling between having my Yamaha p121 as a midi controller and use main stage/ iPad , and actually buying montage/modx which has all the sounds. Now with the high quality vsts and advanced software, it is even more difficult to choose.
I just LOVE listening to you play! You may not be an ASMR guy, but this music is so soothing, beautiful, and your voice also calming - I think I’ll be listening to this when I need help going to sleep - so relaxing 😌
Didn't know the B-3X was availible on IOS. I've been using it on PC and love it:) I do have a real Hammond(M-103) with a 760 Leslie wich is awesome but when it comes to moving gear around I prefer the software stuff. I mean 10 kilos(20 pounds) compared to +100 kilos(200 pounds) there is no competition really. But using it in a IOS device makes it even lighter :) Great video and most of all great playing🤙
Very helpful video, Ben! I realize you can only display so much on the screen, and seeing the interface is the most important part. But when you're playing, I keep wondering what it would look like if the camera were on YOU. I'm assuming your fingers are all over the iPad, but your playing sounds so seamless that I'm not sure how that could be. Another video idea would be to talk us through your style of playing. I find it relaxing, almost mesmerizing. Are those parts of songs? It sounds more interesting than just "random" chord progressions. Thanks for showing us how all these pieces fit together.
Paul, thank you for your kind words. I’ll take all that into consideration, and see what I can do! I don’t own a real camera, just an iPad, iPhone, and my MacBook Pro, but it’s interesting to hear anyone say they would like to see what my playing looks like. I could certainly do a video about that- but it’s nothing special, just a bunch of octaves and broken up chords! Thanks again, I always appreciate your comments.
i keep being told next version of AUM will sync to midi clock, i use hardware mostly, will be nice for AUM to sync with my studio, i use audiobus3 instead
I meant to ask how you would compare the Ravenscroft 275 iOS version with the default pianos on the Yamaha CP-88. Is it better, in your opinion? Worse? Or just another nice option?
Hi Ben and greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan. So impressed with your demonstration of the AUM app that I just purchased it (...along with Ravenscroft 275 and Hammond B-3x) for my new Arturia KeyLab Essential 61. On the AUM however, I'm having issues with the volume sliders, mute not working and a couple of other glitches. I'm not necessarily a strong technical guy, but can usually navigate around software to figure things out. I'm not having luck with the AUM app however. Any chance I may send you an email? I'm thinking just a few quick fixes and I'll probably be on my way. Would appreciate any time or help you may be willing to offer. Respectfully, Randy
